I was looking for a place to have a private Birthday party for my very close friend who was turning 60. I called Sylvia at Tres Vinos and she went out of her way to accommodate my needs for the party. On the day of the party like in every event effort there were a couple of glitches and they all were on it. I worked with Manager Richard who was awesome. The staff helped me with every detail and the food was delicious and affordable. I also was able to book their Salsa and Latin Jazz group for the party. They are amazing. Without hesitation I recommend Tres Vinos in Covina, California. If you just want to go for a relaxing Sunday Brunch and hear live music, go out dancing or have a private event,... go for it at Tres Vinos, you will not regret it. Love the staff. I like coming to 3vinos to dance. They play top 40s, flashbacks, salsa, rock en espanol and cumbias. The drinks are fairly price and can be strong, depending on the bartender. The crowd is mix, young and old. Some good looking people and some that are not. If you like to dance and drink come check this place out. Also some nights they have live salsa bands. It's near impossible to get a seat at their bar, which does wraps around to the restaurant side. But who wants to sit there when you want to be where the action is? Review is based on a visit around 8-10pm in the fall of 2017: Came here to celebrate mom's birthday after having a terrible experience at the Italian restaurant down the street (which shall remain un-named). The live music was great - mainly salsa & cumbia. The service was great. One of our guests is my 5 year old niece. When the place was getting ready to turn into adult-only zone for the later part of the night, the staff were very polite to us as they rearranged tables and chairs. They offered us a new place to sit so we could continue enjoying our stay as they finished their set-up for the night. We opted to head out because my niece was tired, but I appreciated their professionalism and tact as they tried to accommodate our stay as long as possible. The chef came out to make sure we were content with the meal. He was friendly and energetic. The food was great! Mom received a complimentary birthday drink - I would describe it as strong and very sweet mix of fruity flavors - it came in a huuuuge glass. For an evening dance spot, the staff offered our family an outstanding family-friendly restaurant service even as they were setting up for the "late" shift. For a family restaurant, this place is lively with good music and quick/attentive staff. If I return, I would do so when I'm looking for a place to dance cumbia & salsa. I might even consider staying a little late. --- Based on other reviews, I see that some people have the expectation for this place is a club where they dance to music that is "in"... yea, nope. Drinks are pretty good here, but now that I've had their food I feel like I can write a review. Salads are definitely the winners on the menu. I had the shredded chicken salad and I really liked the flavor of the dressing and the portions were good. My girlfriends enjoyed their steak salads and the salmon salad too. The only complaint was from someone who got their ropa vieja, which tasted like it was made with a sauce out of a can. As for the bar/club atmosphere, it has gone down in quality from before. Probably because of the music. Crowd is a lot older than it was before too. I've heard the Sunday brunch is good, so I may try it out one day, but I'm not in a hurry. read more

Salsa wednesdays are here... It's about time a new place opened up in the area with nice ambience and a smooth dance floor. I haven't sampled the fare yet but 3 vinos serves a mighty mojito and has a dj that keeps the salsa, bachata, and some merengue coming. There's a large bar in the center of the room and later in the evening they will clear the dinner section out to open up a second part of the dance floor on the other side of the bar. That means more room to dance in and less stepping on my feet!Even though this weekly event is only a couple of weeks in, it's looking like a good start. There's a nice mix of younger folks, not just the older salsa crowd. If you're a salsero/salsera and are in the area, I'd give it a shot. read more

Last night was the grand opening of 3 Vinos and I got to go with a party of 14 for dinner. They did offer free Sangria from 7 to 8pm. That was the highlight of the night! The place looks beautiful. The owners spent a ton of money with the place. The mirors on the wall are great. The bar top has some really nice LED lighting that changes. Overall, the place looks really really nice. HOWEVER, the food was way too expensive. If you want to pay $20-30 for a plate, this is the place. The sangria was $10 a glass. And the glass was small! A couple will spend $90 if you get a drink, 2 plates and an appetizer. I would not go back again. To spend that much money I recommend that you go to a higher end restaurant. No good for brunch. Just got back from a Sunday mothers day brunch and I'm not impressed at all. The food layout is horrible. The food options are horrible. Mainly lunch foods, for breakfast all I saw was bacon, pancakes and bagels. O yea there was an omelette station pushed way in the back next the kitchen so you had servers bumping into you every 10 seconds. The live music was way to loud. Trumpets, bongos and electric guitar while I have brunch? Not in the mood for that this early. Seems like this place doesn't know how to tone it down for a breakfast. well if you live in the area this is a perfect place to go locally. Its free to get in, it has an ok dress code (no bums allowed lol) Drink prices are ok. Im not that into salsa so at first i hesitated to go but my friends convince me to go. Between 7pm to 10:30pm the salsa band plays. Alot of older folks are there in that time to see the band. When it gets around 10:30 the Dls starts playing hip-hop, spanish rock, 80s and alot of other music. You either need to get here real early to avoid the long line or real late. The crowd is pretty much mix. Usually the older folks leave when the band plays & the younger crowds show up or stay. The bad thing about this place is the Djs on friday & saturday. they usually play the same mix every week. They play music videos but it seems like they dont really much rotate them. Review for the Club: Pro: Good music. Good Atmosphere. Con: I went for a Bday party, We got there around 1030p and there was a huge line that wasnt moving. The manager was asking people if they wanted to get in quick they'd have to pay for at least a $300 bar tab. There were 11 of us to we did it, We were seated at a small table, oh well. Hope you dont have to use the rest room because you gotta pass through the 1000's of people packed on the dance floor while bumping into people and end up touching private parts on accident. And dont forget the single guys who were deperately on the look out for girls. The ambiance is awesome. The live music great. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. Do NOT order the churrasco. It was well-done when I asked for medium rare AND it was crazy spicy. The empanadas were very good. The mashed potato balls are very good also. Their beans and rice are tasty. We also ordered this pork dinner with onions and it was excellent. Came here for brunch today for friends birthday and they have an amazing spread of food! Great deal for brunch with bottomless mimosas, only $20. During brunch, they have a full spread of Latin food, salads, omelette bar, traditional American breakfast food as well as a dessert bar. Each table gets A pitcher of mimosas so you can serve yourself, which can get pretty handy. While we were there, they also had a live band playing music which really made the place fun for a big group. It was my first time there and the staff was kind courteous and attentive. Would definitely go back again for big groups for an inexpensive brunch. Also looks like they have live music and dancing on other nights a week which I would definitely love to come back for. I agree with Sonya M Joints like 3 Vino's should have 2 profiles. One for the restaurant, and one for the nightclub. I went to the nightclub. I had blast. Although it was a rainy the people were in great spirits and partying Cali style. There was a cool mix of House, Progressive, Electro, Hip Hop, Top 40, Classic KROQ, Mash-Ups.....Etc. Sound System was bumpin'. Smoking Patio. There was some Technical difficulties thanks to SERATO, lol. I gave it $$$$ because a few drinks and you are well over $61 To me it's a slap in the face for a joint to sell a Bud-Light or any cheap disgusting beer for $6 +Tip. I had Modelo Negro $7. On 09/02/12 the wife and I decided to give 3 Vino's a try. We started at the restaurant and eventually worked our way to the bar area. It was an early dinner so we enjoyed conversation with some regulars. The food was gratifying but too fancy for my taste (I am a tacos and beer kind of guy). The wife enjoyed the change in venue. Came here on Friday, on 10/18/13, the band playing that night was great, I think it was Soto. Get there early to get a seat at the bar because after they clear out the dining tables to make room for dance area, there is standing room only or space against the wall and nobody wants to give up their seats. Anyway, overall liked the atmosphere, as stated in previous reviews from fellow yelpers the music is a mix and not bad for no cover charge!! Been meaning to try this place out for quite a while since I work in Covina, and it was decent. I can see why it had such a buzz when it opened as its very hip and trendy for old town Covina. Not much like it in the 626, the night I went there was actually an extravagant fashion show going on! Service was decent, but they brought out our entrees only a few minutes after our appetizers. We had to have the entrees go back and wait on the line...they were both seafood entrees so I'm sure my lobster was dried out because of that. I work at a restaurant, and I know that properly coursing a meal should be Service 101. Especially since we paid so much for the entrees! Still, the food was the saving grace (minus my dried out lobster). The Arepas Colombianas appetizer was good, basically a Colombian-style sope with your choice of diced grilled chicken or shredded pork, we got one of each. The flagship entree, Paella, was BOMB! I liked it because they surely did not skimp on the seafood...pretty much hit all the bases in regards to that. Also, the Camarones Coco Loco looked amazing, but too rich and creamy for my tastes. We went there last night 12/29/12 (a Sat. Night). We had dinner which was excellent, while the live band played Cumbias and Salsa. The service was excellent, even better than the food. Since it was our first time here, they told us a little about the dancing/club scene, so we hung out for it. It was great. We enjoyed the nice setting. The age group was between 27-50. This really helped the scene. We are in our 30's. By 11pm the live band stops and DJ plays which played a variety of music, from the 80's to Gamgam style (lol). We would definitely go back again. I came here because my husband made reservations for Valentine's day. I had something else planned and would have been better off. portions of my dinner were cold, the rice was over cooked, and some of the rice was hard (seemed they scrapped the bottom of the pan), The chicken was good, not worth the price. My husband enjoyed his meal and told him I had enjoyed myself. Not my ambiance at all, made me feel older than I actually am! Too many drunks "having a good time" and being obnoxious which I don't like. I paid a lot of money for a nice quiet dinner with my husband and ended up listening to the drunk's conversations sitting next to us. UGH!!! Would I come back? I was invited to join a friend at 3Vino's this week, so I made the 30 minute trek from LA to Covina -- something I would rarely have done if not for the invitation from a good friend. I had already heard about the restaurant on a local radio station (The Wave). I honestly didn't know what to expect, except that it would likely be a disappointment. I couldn't have more wrong. Food: First of all, I am a seafood freak, and honestly I've never found a place in LA that blew me away more than this place. The range of seafood options was unbelievable, and it wasn't the run of the mill seafood you see in every restaurant, it was flavors and combinations I had never seen before. From the thick chunks of calamari in a lemon reduction, to the incredible "Zarzuela De Mariscos"....it was a treat for any foodie. Ambiance: Nothing I've ever experienced before. Modern/hip meets Havana circa 1952. They had dancers with the big feather headdresses, like something out of a scene from the Tropicana, and a live band. I almost thought Ricky Ricardo and his big band would come out at any minute. Really cool experience -- felt like I was on vacation in Rio or Buenos Aires. Service: I felt like royalty. Simple update here: This place has gone downhill over the last two years. The night mood has gone from a nice local, no cover charge, spot to go have a drink and mingle (without having to roll to the west side, etc) to a 'wanna be' vegas spot. A place where older (maybe not "that" old 35-45) people come to hang out. Been here twice for birthday's but never on my own recognizance. When we arrived there was a band playing salsa (they were alright) and people still eating dinner. Then at around 10 chairs and tables were being picked up and the DJ started up. I don't know, maybe just not my vibe. Went on a Saturday evening (both times) at about 9:30 and there was a line :/ good thing we had "bottle service." BTW not really bottle service, more like order whatever you want to drink until you hit the total amount for the VIP section. Place is rather small, and music could be a bit louder. If I could hear people's conversations 10 feet away then music should be bumped up. Err on the side of caution, but really, there's a reason Covina isn't known for clubs. read more

It all started like: I called and the women that answered the phone was rude!!!!.. She does not have customer service skill, and she is making 3 Vinod lose business. You would think that the person that answers the phone would know what kind of music 3 Vinos plays, or general questions. She said "Well I only know they have bachata there from 8:30 to 9:30, and honestly I don't know what happens afterwards!!!" Seriously, I love bachata and just wanted to know if there was dancing tonight. She clicked!!!! "wow" I can only imagine what it's like if I decide to go to the actual place... I moved in across the street few months back. Decided to check it out after some hesitation. Was not suprised by discriminatory behavior by managment I recieved. I was let in around 1130 pm and kicked out at around 1:00am because of my dress code . Which of course was a lie. If that was the case why would they have let me in? I was wearing a collared shirt apparently they were upset cuase I had rolled down my sleeves???? So I was obviously upset because I was obviously being targeted. People around me complete strangers were asking the security why I was getting kicked out??? They had no answer. It was strictly discriminatory because I guess I I didn't git the usual demographic of old people ? They kicked me out and I was disputing with the security guard . They called the cops on me and I got booked for disorderly conduct I wasnt even drunk . Covina and the establishment apparently have some kind of off the record understanding . I was not asked one question by the police officer .be careful with those guys at that establishment from mangment to staff. I was warned by one of the nice police officers after I was released. The nice officer said they get bs calls from them so often. I will never recommend to anyone or go back to that place. Instead of taking care of covina residence and local businesses I will make sure people be careful.
