It all started like: I called and the women that answered the phone was rude!!!!.. She does not have customer service skill, and she is making 3 Vinod lose business. You would think that the person that answers the phone would know what kind of music 3 Vinos plays, or general questions. She said "Well I only know they have bachata there from 8:30 to 9:30, and honestly I don't know what happens afterwards!!!" It doesn't even deserve 1-star. I was there today, there was no one in the front to answer any questions. People were in the front crowding the entrance because they were taking pictures with a Christmas tree. Once I went inside I found a waiter and I told him I wanted to ask him questions about the food. He asked me if I had reservations, I said no but I was thinking about making a future reservations. He finally took me to the area where the buffet was but he was very patronizing. This is not an establishment I would recommend instead go to Media Noche which is also in Covina. I want to star by saying that our server, Jaime, was very nice, a good sport when I teased her about not speaking Spanish, and very cute. However, that was the highlight of our evening. We started with a pair of mojitos and some Papas Rellenas as an appetizer. The papas were okay, but Portos has nothing to worry about. The $11 mojitos were nothing more than lemon and slightly mint flavored club soda. Neither one of us detected any hint of rum, and at $11 a copy I'd expect a slight buzz after sucking down the first drink. Nothing! My wife ordered the Camarones a la Parrilla and I ordered the Bistec de Palomilla. My wife's camarones and the maduros that came with each of our meals were good. However, the rice was over cooked, the black beans were mediocre at best, and my steak was the worst piece of meat I've ever tried eating. It was the fattiest and most gristly piece of meat I've ever attempted to eat. To make matters worse, the light was so low in the restaurant that I wasn't even able to cut around it to the meat. So, I resorted to using the flashlight on my phone only to find that it was mostly fat and gristle anyway. So I ate the few things that were eatable and left the steak. They did comp my plate and offered me a second entree, but you don't get a second chance to make a first impression. I had to pass. Food was delicious. I have yet to come here for dancing. I ordered the Salmon Salad and my dinner buddy had the steak. Black bean soup was wonderful. The food has a very ethnic taste to it. The salmon was absolutely delicious full of flavor and spices. Portions are a good size. The sangria was wonderful, presented well, however, if its a heavy alcoholic drink you want you might want to order a martini instead. This is the second time I get HORRIBLE service here. Getting to the front of the line (as instructed by my party and staff), they let half of my girlfriends in, and the other half outside. Staff said a few people needed to leave before letting in more people. About ten people left the venue. My friend asked the doorman if he could let the last two girls of our group could now enter. The doorman said, "Now that you ask? No." I could not believe how incredibly rude he responded. After showing my I.D. when entering, another staff member tapped my shoulder, flashed his light on me and asked to see my I.D. again. He said I was too young to be there (maybe because 90% of their clientele is 35 and older). I explained that I already showed my I.D. when entering, he still decided to double check. After proving my age, the man couldn't even apologize. Drinks were very watered down for the prices they charge. The dance floor is very small and the staff will make you move as they did to us (we were not dancing in a walkway area). The last time I had a table with bottle service, staff made us wait in the regular line for an hour. Isn't the purpose of paying for a table/bottles is to avoid waiting in line? Been coming to this place off and on to get my salsa dance on and I think it's great! Located in Covina, free cover charge...Yay!, free salsa class offered before the dancing begins on salsa nights which I felt was very good, the guy at the door is always a sweetheart to the ladies =), nice ambiance, a good variety of music, and great mix of people who are looking to dance but watch out ladies for those pointy heals because in close dancing quarters some people just don't care where they step when they are having a good time and that just might be your foot...Yikes. I have never experienced having to wait in line outside so maybe that's on other nights or for people who might arrive later in the evening. I also think it's funny to hear from another review about the "older" crowd which I think is unavoidable unless it's a place specified for 18 and over. As for the food, I haven't tried it yet so I cant comment. As far as the people who work the bar...well I haven't had such a good experience with them yet and the drinks for the price are a bit expensive. Make sure you drink lots of water before you go since a small bottle is $3.00. You could even stop by at Starbucks before going in for a drink and enjoy some quiet time with friends or a date. However, if you plan to dine and dance on a Saturday night, check to ensure the schedule coincides with your plans or you will find yourself pressured to chow down so they can clear your table to make room for the large crowd of dancers that show up there. Saturday night's music is a little more on the contemporary side and the ambiance is festively chaotic. This last time, I dined on a Sunday for the first time and was pleasantly surprised at the slower paced environment. We were allowed to keep our table for the duration of the evening but even if we hadn't there was plenty of seating. In the dining room we received courteous service. The bistec was delicious but the ceviche mixto I normally look forward to was a bit of a disappointment. This time it was missing the fish I normally look forward to and the "fried" calamari cuts were still nearly frozen ;/ Both the dj and band were very enjoyable, playing a good mix of 80's and latin music. I guess that was not enough for him. The waiter was supper nice and helpful and the owner blamed him for the mishap idk why. The owners sister was super nice along with the other workers however. 3 Vinos - Dance Clubs Near Me - Covina, California

I have been a resident of Covina for 6 years. I frequent the local restaurants, and spend time in downtown. I have been waiting for 3 Vinos to open for quite a while now. With that being said, let me give you my thoughts... We started the night with a carafe of Sangria, and the croquettes. Both were great. I was surprised to see that the sangria did not have any fruit in the container, but it tasted good, so I just let that go. The croquettes were as good as the ones I have in Barcelona. Next, I ordered the black bean soup. It too was outstanding! The taste was superb, and the presentation was nice. I did feel a bit rushed with our main dishes, as I was not done with the soup when the main courses came out. But, I think that is just timing that will improve with some time. For the main course, our party ordered the BBQ shrimp, arroz con pollo, and the shredded pork with peppers and onions. All three were excellent. The pork may have been a tad overcooked, but again that may be a function of timing. The arroz con pollo was outstanding, and the BBQ shrimp tasted great. By this time, we had ordered anther carafe of sangria, and were looking at the dessert menu. We decided to split a caramel crepe. Again, it was amazing. Raspberries and ice cream on the outside, with strawberries filling on the inside. I was impressed. Finally the bill came... $145.00. Seems excessive for what we got. At looking at the bill, I realized that the sangria was 30 per carafe. 60 of it came just from that. I was a bit disappointed because although the sangria was good, it was not $10 per glass good. Overall, the service was good, the employees were pleasant, and the atmosphere was nice. I will give it a try again, although be a bit more attentive to the price of drinks. If not for the high prices, I would have rated this place 4 stars. However, the initial shock of the bill made me reduce it to 3. Seems like a good addition to downtown Covina. read more

I went on a Friday night for my sisters birthday. The place is relatively small, but it has a cozy feeling. They have music playing during dinner which is pretty loud. We had to shout to talk to the others in our table or to the waiter trying to get our order. We were there for dinner and everyone in our party of 9 said their dish was delicious. Despite informing the hostess we were there just for dinner, she insisted that we pay a cover charge, and yet failed to let us know that there was no regular sit down dinners available! I remember 3 Vinos being a nice, classy place where you could enjoy delicious food and great entertainment.
