Half of the restaurant turns into a bottle service/lounge/dance floor on Saturday nights for I believe is their weekly salsa night. The spicy green spread they serve with their bread is really tasty--especially with a slab of butter. The seafood paella was wonderful. We ordered the portion for two and it was way too much food. We can both put it away but there was still a lot leftover. I could barely make a dent in it. The server informed us that we have the option to just split one order but we got greedy. Their specialty sangrias were very tasty--possibly the best version I've ever had. I wouldn't have minded if it were slightly stronger. An extra ounce of triple sec or vodka would have made it perfect. Two glasses of sangria, an order of empanadas with mango salsa, seafood paella for two and a coconut flan only came out to around $90. Not too bad for the quality and the amount of food. The security at the door carded me even though we came in for dinner around 8pm and told me that there is a dress code after 10pm. Men apparently can't wear tennis shoes, which I completely understand. Be prepared for it. Again, this is Saturday night. I can't speak to the rest of the week. read more

Horrible place! We just spent about 1K in bottle service. The host moved our party three times without putting us in the right place. Treated us sooo rudely while this was happening instead of acknowledging it was their mistake. Carded three people in our party three times and accused us of having underaged guests when all our guest surrendered IDs. Never once apologized. Security harassed our entire party the entire night. Everything was a problem. Even our server said they've had many complaints on him (security) and he is still there. Terrible way to celebrate a 30th bday. I don't know what is going on with this club. I usually come here on Salsa Wednesdays but for the past several weeks they have not been turning on their air conditioner! Tonight, a lot of people showed up to dance and the place was a a stuffy hot box!!! If you don't like sweating all night and dancing in what seems to be a sauna, then choose to dance at a club where they turn on their air conditioner! Actual dancing starts at 6 pm. DJ Robby plays a mix of salsa, bachata, merengue, cha cha and cumbia (in that order from most played to least played.) It can get crowded, but for the most part the crowd is made up of actual social dancers, so it works. $5 cover charge is totally reasonable. Do not got to 3 Vinos the service was horrible. I want thetegor my brother in laws bday. He paid $50 for a private booth with a prepaid $250. In drinks $300. Total. Once you exceed your $250 In drinks you can open an additional tab. However upon trying to leave the waitress tried to refill for the $50 to rent the table. In addition the bus boys come by your private table and steal drinks that are clearly not empty so you have to reorder drinks sooner and hence blow through your $250. Much faster. I happened to catch this bus boy twice , thus having to reorder more drinks This appears to be a common practice. This place despite having nice decor is very ghetto. Once we tried to clear this up with the waitress she called the manager over who immediately summoned his security staff, very much bully like tactic. Once we went out to discuss this with the manager we were greeted by 6 police officers who no doubt know this place very well as a troublesome establishment Do not take your business here unless you want to be treated like a common criminal. I just celebrated my birthday at this place. We had dinner and stayed for the club... the dinner was delish and the the club was amazing!! Making reservations were easy. Christina was always available to answer any questions I or my guests had in regards to dinner and dress code. She even made recommendations that made my visit easy and helpful. The waiters at dinner were very attentive and always at our service for all our needs. We never had to ask for our water cups to be filled and or our drinks to be refilled they were prompt! At the club we reserved a lounge and a Nancy our hostess was super sweet and attentive as well. She always checked in on us and made sure to introduce herself to each one of my guests. She made sure all my guests needs were attended to as well. Even when we were on the dance floor she walked by and checked in with me to see if everything was good. The reasons why: the staff are friendly, the ambiance is great and this place dedicates itself to music and fun for everyone. I've been here when they've played hip-hop, I've been here when they've played rock en espanol, I'm been here when they've played top 40, I've been here when they've played salsa, I've been here when they've played jazz... the list goes on and on. There's always an event for everyone! Recently, I came here for salsa night and my girls & I had such a great time.The host and his lovely partner make it very enjoyable. He's friendly and fun. Partners get switched, so if you bring someone, you'll be moved around. If you don't bring anyone, don't worry! By the end of the night, you'll have learned how to salsa with a good 10 - 20 partners. Some people are beginners and some are pro, but this weekly event is set up so everyone has a good time, no matter what their level. So I decided to tag along with my girlfriend and her 4 friends last Saturday to 3 Vino's. (It's a restaurant that turns into a club after 10pm. So this review is based on the club) Me and 5 girls...this should be a fantastic night! So we get to Citrus Avenue and I glance at the place, realizing it's July 3rd, I was expecting a huge line in front, but no, none whatsoever. Ok, that's good and bad I guess. As we're walking up to the front, I look into the place from the patio, and it's not a bad looking place, simple but small. We walk up to the entrance, and I can see the bouncer just staring at my shoes; Bouncer: Hey bro, everything's cool, except for your shoes. Sorry, no sneakers. You can go up the street and get you some $10 black shoes from Target. Me: Are you serious? (pointing to the 5 girls with my left hand and the non-existent line with my right hand) Ok so $100 black and white Nike's isn't going to cut it. But $10 all black shoes from Target will huh? I'm thinking to myself, this is Covina, no offense to anyone who lives there, but IT'S COVINA! Covina's greatest claim to fame is that it's a mere 50 miles away from LA. You're NOT LA, you're not Las Vegas, this ain't 90210, I barely get cell reception out here! Verizon sent me a free text message asking if I'd been kidnapped! You're a club in the middle of no where! The fact that you're telling me that you'd rather have me wear $10 shoes just says it all about who you're trying to attract. Ok fine, whatever, I didn't want to be a dick to the rest of the girls, so my girlfriend and I decide to chase down a local Wal-Mart. (Target closes at 10, something mr. bouncer hadn't considered). So we rush to Wal-mart, I buy some crappy black shoes, and we head back. Once we got in, guess what? THERE ARE GUYS IN THERE WITH SNEAKERS! This is really what annoyed me the most! As a covina/west covina resident my whole life its nice to see Downtown Covina having some sort of decent nightlife. 3 Vinos is absolutely beautiful inside, with an amazing retro decor. The bar sits in the center with this vibrant blue light that radiates from outside. It looks like its 2 rooms but really its just 1 due to how the bar sits. The funny thing about this place is its sort of lavish, so you would think there would be a cover fee with a ridiculous dress code. But, there's no cover fee, and the dress code isn't the slighest bit severe. The vibe is a older crowd, which is cool cause I feel like one of the youngest dudes in there. As another reviewer stated its a Latin vibe, and they even have a band that performs. That shouldn't turn the younger people away because they do have a dj that plays top 40 (if your into that..im not) and you can dance. I didnt try any mixed drinks but for a 16oz. Bud Light it was $5 which isnt bad at all Another plus to this place is the fact that its a resteraunt as well that I am looking forward to trying. Downtown covina is really trying to go for what Pasadena has, and thats been confirmed to me by someone who works for the board. The only downfall to this place hasn't happened yet, but it happens to every place I go to, and that is eventually they will start charging a cover fee and getting more strict on who they will let in. Doesnt that bum you out like it does me. You go to a place when it first opens then slowly but surely the cover fee goes from $5 to $10, and then they will try to have bottle service, and then start getting strict in every aspect of you just trying to have a good time. I think all of the reviews are hilarious and right on. As a resteraunts the food is poor. They make an attempt, but the quality, freshness and taste, just is not there. It is not an establishment for the food. This is a local, home grown playground for its single Owner, Raoul, who is the Rico suave proprietor of this establishment. it is for the over 50 crowd, and the guy's do look eager and drooling, and the women do look like MILFS standing at the bar. The place is too small for a dance floor, so there is traffic walking past the bar to the bathroom. They frequently have a line out the door. Really? This is Covina, and I think Raoul creates that ambience. Let it be known that the bouncer's will quickly take your money in a hand shake, if you want to get in NOW. The night we went, cost us $60 for 6 of us to go in the back door. Really? I asked myself. I like the decor, the bar, the music, and the environment - but it works best with a minimum amount of people. One of the reason why I really like 3 Vino's is because of their music. They go from today's top 40 to 90's hip hop, Meregue to cumbias and even Norteñas... they really mix it up. Secondly, because I always have a blast! Some Yelpers talk about the age of the crowd, which I don't mind at all, after all, I am 29 and the crowd here is a little older. I like that I'm not surrounded by youngsters who think it's okay to just grind all up on me without asking if I want to dance... this ain't dirty dancing! Haha! Place is a bit small but works since it's not a downtown LA night club. Places gets packed everyone is dressed very nice and plenty of hot chicks. So this review is based on the food and the type of service we got last night for my boyfriend's surprise birthday dinner. I had called 2 weeks ago and spoke to Ray, the owner I believe.I told him I was planning on having a surprise birthday dinner and was expecting about 20 people. I asked if it was ok that I bring a cake beforehand as well as balloons and he said it was fine. I called earlier this week to confirm reservations for 20. Once again, I made sure it was ok that I brought the cake and balloons and they said yes. Yesterday, I made my way over to Sweet Addiction in Montclaire to pick up the masterpiece of a cake that Annette made for the bf's birthday. I took it to the restaurant about 4 hours before our reservations were scheduled. The guy I spoke with gave me somewhat of a hard time, and when he saw how mad I was getting, he laughed and said he was joking and sure I could leave the cake there. Come 8:00, the time I had scheduled our reservations for, my bf's sister texts me to say that they had no idea that a party of 20 was coming. WTF?! They arranged together some tables in the back of the restaurant and that was taken care of. I get there with the guest of honor, his friends get there, we order drinks and appetizers and finally food. OMG, I swear, it seemed like forever. BUT, we did only have one server for our large group and he was trying to do as best of a job that he could. The food was great, I ordered the chimichurri steak and the bf ordered the salmon tamarindo. Both were delicious. Everyone said their meal was fantastic, but, I do think it was slightly overpriced, especially for being a Covina eatery. I guess we were paying for the ambience, and the fact that soon, we were the only people there besides the workers. I did appreciate that during dinner, the manager came to apologize for the confusion regarding the reservations as well as to wish my boyfriend a happy birthday. It was a personable touch to add. However, I don't appreciate the lack of communication among staff and the fact that they couldn't "find" the cake I had brought in earlier. They had no idea about any cake. I named the guy I handed to, and after 15 minutes of having people search for the cake, they finally called him at home and he told them where to find the cake. I almost had a fit because that was the icing on the cake for surprises (lol). I think the restaurant still has a few things to work on. It has become a fun way to share good food and tell stories. When we arrived at 3 Vino's the restaurant had just opened. The food had just come out to the buffet area so we jumped up and made our way to see what they had. First Container: Ropa Vieja. Ah! my favorite! I make a pretty good version myself. There were at least 6 container with everything from Picadillo, Masitas de Puerco, to Chicken in a Cream sauce. Even one container with Cuban Tamale. Black Beans, and omelet station, fresh fruits and pastries. Pretty Much "The Works" There were also complimentary Mimosa! I decided on a plate of Ropa Vieja, Masitas de Puerco, Cuban Tamale, White Rice and Black Beans. I also came back and got an omelet my way with mushrooms, ham, onions and cheese. It's not cuban, but it does scream breakfast. Overall the meal was really good. The Ropa Vieja was well made with all the correct spices. The Masitas de Puerco were excellent. Perfectly tender. The Black beans could of used a bit more cuban spice, but were good. The only thing that was a complete "Train Wreck was that Cuban Tamale. It was not cooked properly and tasted burnt. Fix that recipe and you have one heck of a meal. The regular menu is very diverse. With prices a bit on the higher side. I am excited to come back and give them another try. Saw this place in the "jazz and blues section". Was hoping for a relaxed atmosphere and some couches, but instead it was packed to the teeth. They didn't stop letting people in, there was about 6 inches to one foot of free space wall to wall. I wasn't expecting a dance club, and even though they played more mellow music than some other venues it still wasn't jazz or blues. They tried to charge me $7 for a bud light!
