4 stars for the pizza. 1 star for what I watched in the kitchen. The wood-fired pizza was excellent - blistered crust, good char, quality toppings, and it came out hot. That's why this is frustrating. We had a clear view into the kitchen. Multiple cooks were on their phones while handling food, touching their faces and hair, eating and drinking at the line, and I never saw anyone wash their hands after any of that. Nice pizza joint located by the Albertsons on Lake Hazel and Five Mile. Plenty of tables, seating at the bar as well. Six TVs to enjoy some sports. Over 20 brews on tap. Irish red is really tasty! The pie was spot on. The dough is aged 72 hours, and the chew is awesome. Toppings were delicious, fresh mozzarella too, so creamy. Wood fired pizza is the only way to go. Gianna did a great job as our server. Everyone was great, actually. The only detractor for me were the cold plates. I hate putting hot pizza on a cold plate, instant moisture. We visited 3Wood on 8/23/26, a beautifully warm Sunday afternoon. We had the best pizza and cheesey bread! Highly recommended the chicken bacon ranch pizza! Ahhhmazing!!! The real treat was the wonderful service... our waitress was Cee Cee (not sure how to spell it, sorry). What a beautiful soul! She had the best smile, a wonderful personality and so happy. She was very attentive and a wonderful waitress. She is quite the asset to your team. I highly recommend this establishment and you'll be very lucky if you get her as waitress. Came here because we love to try local places that people recommend and we were not disappointed. The place itself is really nice, on the smaller side and it was busy, but the service was great. Everyone is friendly, they made good recs and the food came out quickly. We started with the cheesy bread which was okay- not the best we've had, but decent. Then we got a small pepperoni pizza (also okay) and a large half and half, with the chicken bacon ranch and the hammy manny- and those were both amazing. The crust was also delicious. I had checked the menu before I came so I knew what kind of pizza wanted to order. (Glad I did because it was busy.) A side Caesar salad which was delicious and the zorba. It is a neighborhood staple! When people say, "Do you want to get pizza tonight?" If you live in the area, they are referring to 3 Wood Pizza. My father is a loyal Freight Train pizza guy, I enjoy testing other pizzas instead of staying with the same and I will say, I haven't found a bad pizza yet. Take-out is simple and is usually pretty quick. When eating in, you don't wait long either, even when it is busy. The restaurant can get pretty loud during the dinner rush, so I don't suggest this for groups over 4. We have tried 5-6 people at a time and it is so loud you end up forming groups at the table since you can't hear to the end of the table. While this is not a bad thing, just know it can get bustling. But isn't that what you want with a place you are eating, it says, PEOPLE LOVE IT! This is also a great stop for a belly up to a bar and grab a beer kind of afternoon. There are t.v's playing sports, the beer keeps are friendly and prompt, and more than likely you will find a neighbor at the bar to chat with. Friendly bunch! read more

Went here after hearing from numerous people how great the food is. Its a cool place with a nice bar and good ambiance, very laid back and all group sizes and ages can be accommodated. We ordered a few kids pizzas, a salad, and a meatball sandwich. The meals were good and things came out quickly. Our server was fairly attentive, have had better and worse. First time to eat at this place today for Father's Day. Was very busy but got in right away. Got a great seat, had a really good waitress, stayed right on top of everything. The Pizza was absolutely fantastic. We got the meat lovers and their version of the combination Pizza. Pizza had great crust. I would have liked the Pizza to have been cooked just a little bit longer, though. It's a little bit too floppy other than that fantastic. I like the combination better than the meat lovers because of the vegetables. Definitely going to try some other kinds next timeI go there. We picked up pizza here last week and brought it home to eat. I was most interested in their 3-day-aged pizza dough, and the fact that they make their sauce fresh. We ordered two pizzas: the 3 Wood Margherita (with added Italian sausage) and the popular Freight Train. Both were great. They like to keep the pizzas with minimal ingredients, so don't expect thick cheese or heavy sauce. The ingredients are good, but minimal. The crust is thin, but tender, and works well with the rest of the ingredients. The Spicy Luau is next for me, I think. I opted for 4 stars instead of 5 because I think they could use a bit of ingenuity in their menu, as far as flavor combinations. I do get that sometimes "less is more", but sometimes more is great, too. It's a balance. read more

Good beer/cider/wine selection. But most importantly the food is awesome! The pizza is just so good, both the red and white sauces are excellent, the ingredients taste so fresh, I loved the slow roasted tomatoes and cup pepperoni on the Slow Roast Pizza. 10/10 would highly recommend anybody searching for great pizza to check it out. Its about 10 miles from where we reside, but IT WAS SO TOTALLY WORTH THE DRIVE. They have a nice long bar (but it was full), several hightops and 4 seaters as well as booths. As soon as we sat down, our server was there with menu's. I chose the michelada (be prepared it comes in a small pitcher), could have a little more spice for my taste but it was good. I ordered the 12" Pepperoni Lovers pizza w/ jalepeno's. My husband ordered the Spicy Laui. The crust is nice and crispy, the pizza's were NOT OILY OR GREASY, sauce had lots of flavor. Our server was on point checking in on us, refilling my husbands sweet tea. I would go back even though it's not the closest pizza joint, like I said, it was worth the drive. read more

It's been a minute since 3 Wood opened their doors in Southwest Boise and I finally waddled my way down for some dinner. According to their menu, their NY brick-oven pies consist of a "combination of their 72 hour aged dough, their red sauce made daily using the finest vine ripened tomatoes and locally made sliced mozzarella make for an amazingly great pizza." I began my evening with a glass of Blackberry Boom from Meriwether Cider (6.9% ABV, $7.50 for a 16 oz), and my husband tried the Rocket Dog from Laughing Dog Brewery (6.7% ABV, $5.50 for 16 oz). While I can't critique on the quality/experience with the beer and cider since it's an entirely different company however I found the price for the cider a little steep. Not sure if that's just the brewery so no stars lost just an opinion stated. For food we shared the Pepperoni Lovers (vine-ripened red sauce, fresh mozzarella, spicy cup and char pepperoni and traditiona pepperoni, 12.00 for a 12 inch). I was a huge fan of the cupped pepperoni - it's definitely the way I prefer my pepperoni slices! However, I was not a fan of the thin crust. I like my bread thic! I can only hope in the future they offer more traditional or deep-dish pies. All in all, I'll go back, but I can say it will be soon. We came here yesterday and had high hopes for finding some great food not far from our new house. While the pizza was pretty good and had decent flavors the service was just ok. The lady that helped us was friendly but not friendly and while she was attentive lacked a smile, or any real sense of personality. Inside the restaurant was modern, open and a great spot. They had plenty of open seating and bar area. They also had a great beer selection both on tap and in the bottle. They also did have some wine selections along with ciders and other cocktails. In addition to pizzas they do have some other sandwich selections as well as appetizers. Our pizza which was called the slow roast which had slow roasted tomatoes, pepperoni, mushrooms and 1/2 jalapeños had some decent flavor was undercooked and didn't really have the crust we were looking for. I am going to give this place another try based on thinking we hit on an off day. I hope the service as well can get a little better and make this a regular spot for us. read more
