Cute place but nothing to rave about. The service was average (very European type of vibe), but the food and coffee...applause. My coffee was perfection and my sandwich looked like it came from a commercial and was prepared by a food artist. It was delicious and the ingredients were fresh, crisp and absolutely top notch. Wow. So much yummy stuff to try here. I had the chicken and pork pelmeni and was SO good. Ive never had it before but it has me coming back. The honey cake was also perfection. They have so many beautiful and unique pastries. There's so much to try here and you can tell it's all of exceptional quality. The atmosphere is also very bright, cute, and cozy and everyone who works here is extremely kind. Cannot recommend enough. read more

The sunflower is amazing! I had the avocado toast. I was extremely impressed. The portion was a good size. I was able to slit it with my husband. It was fresh and the bread was sour dough. The flavors were amazing. We had coffee and I can say it was truly delicious coffee. I had cappuccino and my husband had Americano. We both love good coffee and the sunflower delivered very good coffee. The service was very good. We didn't have to wait long. The place was so inviting the soft music was so relaxing it made me want to linger and not hurry. The place was tastefully decorated and relaxing. I am looking forward to going back. Such an adorable little spot tucked away near the Winco and DMV in Meridian. Even better, super clean and friendly service from the counter to the delivering of food. One gal from the Ukraine, the gal serving our food is from Russia and she joked the other gal from Poland and it's "very international" here. Then the food! The whole thing about eating with your eyes first, applies here! Our order arrived quickly on quaint wooden plates and the food looked fresh and tasted accordingly with a good amount of pesto and melted cheese on the Chicken Pesto sandwich. My lunch mate loved the Chicken Croissant Sandwich with just the right amount of garlic aoli and avocado... and the croissant was very flaky. Just wanting to support such a good place, we tried the Napoleon that truly melted in our mouths. Excited to try the Borsch, Pelmeni and Pierogies! Will be back! read more

First of all, the name brought me in the door! I love sunflowers! I thought I would grab a pastry and leave, but their simple menu begged me to stay! My daughters and I ordered a Nutella, strawberry, banana crepe to share. We weren't actually very hungry, it was late afternoon before dinner. We devoured it. It was absolutely delicious. The coffee/tea selection was great. Because we stayed, the drinks were served in mugs, which felt very classy. I will definitely be returning to this quaint little cafe. read more

If I could rate it 10 stars I would! Ambiance is warm and cute. Staff is friendly and helpful and you can tell they take great pride in their work of serving you. We visited on a brisk fall Saturday morning.  This little place is tucked into the back of a strip mall. Since it was early and a bit cooler, it was cool in the restaurant; especially with the frequent opening of the door. This is a counter service restaurant with the very kind and helpful staff bringing your food and drink. I ordered the salmon toast, an espresso and almond croissant. There is a serious lack of lox & bagels in the TV, and this salmon toast did not disappoint.  The bread was not toasted but was homemade and hearty.  The cream cheese spread was lighter than most which I loved.  The smoked salmon was delicious but not overly salty. I loved the addition of arugula and pickled onions along with briny capers and fresh tomatoes to complete this dish. The presentation was beautiful, and a hard-boiled egg was served alongside.  My espresso was perfectly balanced.  All the pastries looked delicious, and there was a steady stream of customers taking out pastries.  I tried the almond croissant, which was plenty flaky with a delicious natural tasting almond filling. The croissant itself was crunchy and light and didn't taste greasy.  The staff were wonderful and checked on us and asked how we liked it.  I thought the pricing was more than fair. You can tell all food is made with love and is their passion.  We will be back to try more things.  I would love to buy a loaf of bread and a bag of their homemade pelmeni (russian dumplings). We stop for pastries, sandwich's breakfast whenever we can. The best turkey bacon avocado sandwich ever!!!! Their ethnic pastries are out of this world delicious. Layered chocolate cake with very light and crusty texture fantastic. The unique tiramisu with many layers is complex, not so typically creamy texture is also delicious. Today was my first visit to Sunflower Bakery & Cafe. I say "my first", because I promise you there will be more visits! In summary, there is nothing about this new place that I do not like! This little bakery/breakfast/lunch spot has a very nice atmosphere, and the service was exceedingly nice. And let me tell you, the food that we were blessed with today was off-the-charts delicious. I ordered the Chicken Bacon Toast, and my wife ordered the Chicken Pesto Sandwich. We both let each other try the other's lunch item, and I think the Chicken Pesto beat the Chicken Bacon by a tiny bit, but both of these items were incredible. It is so wonderful to eat something as apparently simple as a deli sandwich, and experience the wonderful joy that emerges from the effort of an artistic cook or chef. That is just what happened to us today! All of the ingredients were fresh and flavorful, and the bread for both sandwiches was amazing! For dessert, I had the last strawberry pastry of the day, lightly heated, and it was wonderful as well. If you are in Meridian, or anyplace else within the Treasure Valley, I would highly recommend Sunflower for lunch! Next time I come I think I'll try something from their breakfast selections! read more

You know that moment when you take a bite and your eyes just close from pure joy? That was us. Over and over again. Everything was so beautifully presented, we were in awe before we even started eating -- and then it just kept getting better. The place is sparkling clean and filled with cozy charm. But what makes it unforgettable is the people. The staff were unbelievably kind, warm, and truly attentive. You feel seen, welcomed, and cared for. We brought flowers for our friend's birthday -- didn't say a word to anyone -- and they noticed, brought a vase without us asking, and later surprised us with a sweet dessert and a heartfelt "Happy Birthday" sung by the servers. The presentation is stunning as well. . 1st visit, you order and pay at the counter, then select a seat, and they'll bring the food to you. I had the Potato & Mushroom Pierogis, and I couldn't be happier. Approximately 2 dozen delicate potato pillows, gently cooked in butter and served with sauteed mushrooms & a dollop of sour cream. Plated on a beautiful wooden serving tray with metal utensils. I also enjoyed the Cabbage Salad (vinegar-based, no mayo). Again, it was a nice presentation with fresh & delicious taste. I enjoyed a refreshing tomato juice with my lunch that perfectly married all the flavors in a symphony of delight! I'm seriously not exaggerating, I was VERY HAPPY with my experience. . 2nd visit, I came specifically for their fresh baked pastries, so I ordered a Bear Claw & Cafe Breve. The sweet worker/hostess/server/cashier (many hats!) suggested to warm-up the pastry, and that was a great idea. The creamy espresso had the perfect foamy head. I already can't wait to return and try more of their wonderful menu items. . Cute little cafe! A great meeting place for you and a friend. Their espresso drinks are wonderful and come in nice large coffee cups... no paper cups! I also got the blueberry cream cheese crepe which was so delicious. My friend got the breakfast sandwich and it was huge. She enjoyed it and wrapped what she couldn't eat to take home. What a gem! Continently located right off the highway is a delightful bakery and cafe. The pierogie were mouthwatering and delicious in their simplicity. The sandwiches were hardy and tasty with thick slices of perfectly cooked bacon. We ordered 3 different pastries: chocolate, blueberry, and strawberry. The crusts were light and the berries accompanied by cream cheese. We consider ourselves fortunate to have found this place and will return again. read more
