AMAZING!! Food and drinks! 100% would recommend this place place! The atmosphere is incredible the service is top notch!! The bartender was knowledgeable and attentive our server was wonderful. We will absolutely come here again. We got the crab stuffed mushrooms (delicious) then I got the fillet with shrimp, bake potato and salad with an espresso martini, my husband got cajun pasta with a hot tea! We were thoroughly impressed!! Highly recommend! As Travelers from Texas

What a great location in the old schoolhouse! And our server Ciara was just perfect! Fried duck wantons. That was a meal in itself! We had the salmon, the scallops and the sea bass with beurre blanc! All great! And I decided on the margarita flight for desert!

Mahi Mahi with mango. Very good.

This is an old school house (1950?) that has been converted to a restaurant. Interior is beautiful with a refreshing feeling of comfort. Service was top notch and very friendly. Wide selection of food to satisfy any craving. The portions were not obnoxiousness huge like some places. Only complaint is they seem to over cook everything just a bit. Not enough to make me not want to come back but it seemed to be consistent as other tables complained also. May just be a bad night for the chef. Definitely on my list of places to return to.

Sirloin Tips. Schoolhouse rolls. Old Thyme Sour (cocktail). All delicious.

Stopped here on the way through town and what a pleasant surprise! This place is super cute and the staff is attentive and friendly. The food was fantastic. My husband got the New Orleans Pasta and I got the Sirloin Tips. We also ordered a basket of 4 house rolls. Everything was delicious, including my cocktail (Old Thyme Sour). I hope we find ourselves driving through this area again.

Very speedy service all of their bartenders are very sweet and will fix whatever drink to your liking The vibes are disco balls on the ceiling very open very Miami Beach vibes they have an indoor and an outdoor seating area not only that they have fireplaces. If you get a little too far from their heated porch area! The vibes just don't stop. They have an aesthetic fireplace in side as well as a fake tree in the middle beautiful for taking pictures Their bathrooms are adorable, but you might have to wait a little bit on a busy day. But this is the same problem with every bar. Very glad that they have more than one bathroom.

When you walk in you'll need to either take the elevator or stairs up to the third floor. Once inside the bar you'll feel like you've been transported to an upscale, tropical bar. To order you'll need to walk up to the bar to place your order. I ordered the Hot Girl Summer (Olmeca Altos Reposado, fresh watermelon, Gran Gala orange liqueur, house-made habanero syrup, lime, salt half rim) which was so good. I also ordered a cheetahs do it in the dark (Astral Añejo tequila, Licor 43, Caffè Borghetti liqueur, espresso, orange twist) which was also excellent. I'd recommend walking out to the rooftop if it isn't too hot. There are several tables and the views of the city are nice. Definitely will come back to the velvet hippo next time I'm in Durham.

Good reason to come back. Started with prickly pear margarita with mescal. Yum! Had a white wine after. It was ok. My friend and I shared 4 bruschetta's- smoked salmon and pesto, artichoke, caprese, and apple, Brie and fig. Favs were smoked salmon and apple and Brie. The fries were amazing. Salmon board was good too. The bread on the board was much better than the bruschetta. Ambiance is great. Service as well. Will be back!

Absolutely love Postino! This is my go to lunch spot with coworkers. We've been numerous times…read moreand are never disappointed. My go to meal is the half panini and tomato soup. Their roast beef panini is on par with Portillo's a long standing Chicago beef restaurant (IYKYK). I've NEVER had a beef sandwich that was better than Portillo's but Postino you managed to take a hometown classic and elevate it to a point beyond my expectations - if you get this sandwich I recommend getting it on the ciabatta bread versus focaccia. Let's not overlook the tomato soup - it's so rich and flavorful. For a lighter lunch my go to is the tuna panini with broccoli salad. They are known for their boards, I've not had the bruschetta yet but it looks delicious. My favorite board is the hummus. One thing I hate is when a restaurant gives you a big bowl of hummus and not enough pita. That is not the case here, you'll get pita, toasted bread, and a variety of vegetables to scoop up the velvety humus covered in cherry tomatoes, red onion and feta. For date night enjoy a Violet Femme a gin cocktail that tastes as lovely as it looks. The service here is top notch! Everyone is fantastic. I'll have to come back to this review to note the serves names we've had because they have all been exceptional. Now let's talk about the vibe! Postino's nailed the indoor/outdoor feel. Plenty of windows that are open on nice days, plants galore and the decor gives you a cool like rockstar but classy feel. 5 stars doesn't feel like enough.
