This was the worst experiences I've ever had at a restaurant. Do not go here save yourself the trouble I beg you. I work as a server and have traveled to several places on the east coast and in VA specifically and this restaurant was THE WORST I've been to. I'm a very nice person just to give some context. I'm not a Karen and I'm extremely forgiving when things get messed up. I went here with my boyfriend today 6/10/21 when we arrived we were sat immediately as we had been checked in on the list 30 min prior to arrival as there was a small 15-30 wait. Our waitress Shemeka was incredibly sweet and understanding and if you decide to bravely go eat here I recommend her. To make a long story short, the filet I ordered was burnt on the outside and tender on the inside. It tasted like charcoal and salt just awful. Since I've worked in a restaurant for many years, I know this much to be true that the cook clearly turned the grill up very high and flipped it charring the outside and leaving the inside tender but flavorless. This means they either have very little experience or they got overwhelmed and forgot about my steak and tried to make it as quickly as possible. When Shemeka initially asked if everything was okay I said yes having not taken a bite of my steak yet and very shortly after that the manager Scott asked the same thing I again said yes as again I had just received my food. However, once I took a bite and my boyfriend took a bite I did not eat the rest of the steak. 20 min went by before anyone came back again so I did eat the asparagus even though it tasted way too salty because I was hungry and had been in the car all day. We also had the crab dip which was great but not very filling as it's just an appetizer, but as soon as I saw Scott again I told him what was wrong. He asked if I wanted another I said no, some time passed and Shameka came back and informed us that my steak would be half priced. I nodded at her, she walked away, and then I decided there was no way I was paying $17 (aka half the price of the $34 filet) for asparagus and a small salad. I asked if I could speak to her manager again and when he came back I explained that I work in a restaurant myself and understand things happen but that I didn't eat the steak therefore I should not have to pay $17 for sides. He gave me a nasty attitude said "if you'd let me finish I'll explain that when I came by before everything was fine. Then you ate half the meal now everything isn't fine" I said "Excuse me, no one came over for 20 min so because I hadn't tasted the steak yet and deduced it was bad quick enough that means I should pay $17 worth of sides for a steak I barely ate 2 bites of? Is it not common practice for you to simply take the meal off?" He responded with "For most places yes but well I'll take some more off and you can just pay for the sides would that be okay?" Before I could answer he left again and when he came back I said point blank that I wasn't paying for a meal 1) I didn't eat and 2) I didn't enjoy. He snatched the receipt off the table and said "I'll take it off to make you happy." I was shocked he spoke to me that way after putting me through all of that just to comp a meal his cooks messed up. Scott came back through again threw the receipt on the table and said "have a good day." And kept walking. I've read many reviews and I know many of you would've reacted much worse than I did. When Shemeka returned I told her what happened and she looked shocked, I asked her if there was another manager I could speak to she said yes and went to go get what I presume to be the kitchen manager. Her name escapes me unfortunately but she came out and after I explained what happened she said "well other than what he already did I can't do much else. I'm sorry that things weren't fixed quickly enough for you." I responded "No ma"am that wasn't the problem. I'm not a bitch or someone who normally complains. I can clearly see you all are busy and that is completely fine. But my steak wasn't cooked right and the way he treated me is absolutely ridiculous. Is he the owner or is someone above him?" She said there is no one above him apologized and went on her way. I have come to here to WARN you all do not go here. They are clearly a small restaurant and answer to no one but themselves so they can't be held responsible or accountable. After telling my friend Makayla who is the bride in the wedding what happened she told me she had never heard good things about 313 Franklin and I should have told her where we were going before we went and she could have warned me!! So anyways, I am warning you if anything is wrong with your food this is how they handle it. They will make it out to be your fault. Scott is an asshole and if this is how he treats guests I can't imagine working here. Don't go here! read more

If I could give this place more than five stars, I would. I had the chicken broccoli alfredo and my fiancé had the pork chop with green beans and mashed potatoes. Not only was the food presented with Instagram-worthy plating, but it tasted just as good as it looked. The location is unique (it used to be a school), and they have done a fantastic job of updating it while still paying homage to its roots. The prices were very reasonable as well, especially considering how much food we got and how good it was. Definitely a gem in South Hill! read more

We stopped for Sunday brunch while traveling on route 85 and almost passed it by due to its appearance. It didn't look like a restaurant at all. But boy were we glad we went in! Cool decor and interesting menu! We had the shrimp and grits (fabulous) and the farmers breakfast ( eggs, excellent bacon, fluffy biscuit with apple butter and cheese grits (so good). We drink decaf coffee and even that was great. Service was great too. What a find! Too bad it's so far from home for me but I will still try to come back. read more

My husband and I celebrated our 10-year anniversary here and both of us agreed that we couldn't have traveled to Richmond, VA or Raleigh, NC and gotten any better food that what we got at 313! The atmosphere is unique and relaxing, the bar selections are superb, the service is top-notch, and the food was outstanding. We got the crab dip (which was phenomenal), salads, shrimp scampi, New Orleans Pasta, and buttermilk pie. My husband enjoyed a glass of Woodford Reserve and I enjoyed a craft beer, JavaStout. We wouldn't change a single thing about our order, but we look forward to trying out many of their selections! read more

We went there for brunch a few weeks ago. It was not cheap, but that wasn't the reason we went. We wanted something different, tasty & special. We got it. Started with the flight of champagnes - 4 different ones to taste. Wife had the fried green tomato eggs benedict and that was really tasty & special. I had the spinach tomato frittata - tasty, but not a frittata in my book. It was full of veggies, meat & flavor but a frittata should be high and thick. (Almost got 4 stars instead of 5 for that.) This one was as flat as an omelet. Cinnamon rolls were surprisingly good - much fluffier than the frittata. LOL. Both dishes had the schoolhouse potatoes - old school cooking with peppers & onions and more. Our waitress was young - she had no idea what the champagne flight was all about, but she found out promptly and was accurate in her recital. Decor is novel - modern but old at the same time. It was really clean and the bathrooms were too. Seating was roomy & comfortable. We are looking forward to going back. As an aside, a group we know went there and were really happy with their meals. Eat Here!!! We dropped in on a rainy day from our stay on Kerr Lake. What a great find. Despite their challenges of opening just days before the shutdowns, they have it going on. We had craft beers and shared several appetizers. The food was excellent, fresh, flavorful and presented well. The staff was professional and engaging. We stopped in today for Sunday Brunch, for our first time. We were first impressed with the upscale dining room. The restaurant was beautiful. We were seated right away and had a terrific meal. Three different meals and we were all happy. So happy to find a good restaurant in this area finally. We will be back for dinner very soon. read more

We met friends for dinner at 313 Franklin last evening to celebrate everyone's 2- weeks-post-second-Covid-vaccines and our first experience dining IN a restaurant since March 14, 2020. This restaurant lived up to the gravity of our situation as foodies! We parked behind the building in its ample off-street lot and accessed the restaurant through a well-marked back entrance. 313's atmosphere is lovely - modern vibe, trendy, appropriately distanced from fellow diners. The noise level did increase as the restaurant filled. Our server was delightful and very patient with our group of friends that had not dined together in years and had a lot of catching up to do. Husband and I started with the Strawberry Cosmo (so good!) and the equally well-made Blackberry Whiskey Sour while friends enjoyed the beer selection and a glass of moscato - kudos to the bartender. Our table of seven shared the Fried Green Tomatoes with Pimento Cheese and the Calamari with a Sweet Chili Sauce appetizers - plenty for the group and well-flavored with the calamari NOT overcooked. We inquired and our server checked with the kitchen to verify they fry in oil, not lard, as one fellow diner has Alpha-Gal allergy. Husband enjoyed the Stuffed Salmon entree, I savored the Mahi-Mahi with Mango Salsa, and we tried sister's Seared Scallops. ALL seafood was so skillfully cooked - the fish was moist and tender, NOT overcooked, and the sauces were flavorful. Sides of mashed potatoes, blistered green beans (again, NOT overcooked), and roasted Brussels sprouts were great - the rice pilaf was a little crunchy. We had to pass on dessert but look forward to trying it in the future. It was a 5-star evening! Brunch at 313 is our next dining goal. read more

I ordered from this restaurant for the first time last night. Delicious! It also has the look and ambience of a Charlotte restaurant. The salmon, garlic mashed potatoes and green beans were seasoned to perfection. The ribeye, baked potato and green beans were eaten by my guest and they loved it! The Parmesan corn and shrimp tempura sides complimented the meal nicely! I will definitely visit again when I am back in town. read more
