We love Shula's. We do not go very often as it is extremely expensive, however, it is a great option for a special occasion.

Food was ok, but nothing special. Ambiance was ok, but nothing special. The service was the best thing there. I think the steaks at Ted's are better, and cheaper. read more

I understand that the prices are higher due to the restaraunt being in a hotel, but I was still very disappointed with my experience. My server made several mistakes throughout the night but redeemed herself by being very helpful and friendly . The food however was extremely sub par. Im not sure if it was just my order, but it felt like the dish had no passion or creativity to it. I ordered the ribeye with mashed potatos and vegetables. Everything looked and tasted very simple and plain with hardly any depth to flavor or artistic presentation . I think anyone with basic cooking knowledge could recreate this dish in 20 minutes for $15. A little bit more preparation and better plating would go a LONG way here. read more

It was our first time there and we were expecting a fine dining experience. We had better service every where else we went while in Tallahassee for our son's graduation. Our waiter Roy was sarcastic, we ordered 4 lobster tails but only 2 were left, instead of politely apologizing for the inconvenience he said he had good news and bad news, what was the good news? We were never offered any bread plus, the 2 lobster tails we did get were over seasoned, the filet was under seasoned, the sides were tasty but skimpy. The best part of the meal were the appetizers and the dessert. Also, the waiter didn't come around to refill drinks. I'm sorry we didn't go to a different fine dining restaurant in the area that we've been to before because it is far superior but Shula's was highly recommended and my son requested it. read more

We enjoyed a typically good steak house meal but the loaded baked potato was exceptionally delicious!! Another over the top surprise was dessert. We ordered a simple scoop of vanilla ice cream and it was presented in an almond crisp bowl with raspberry sauce and whipped cream. The night was supposed to be a great Birthday Celebration. I thought Shula's would be a great place to celebrate. Boy was I wrong. Off the rip the waiter insulted me with a racial slur. The quality of the food overall was below par. The quality of the steaks did not align with the price at all. If you want great service and great food don't go to Shula's!! In Tallahassee go to Texas Roadhouse or Longhorn for a great steak and great service. read more

Food was marginal and service was lacking. For the price, I expect a lot more. Realize it is Tallahassee but have eaten at other Shula restaurants that are amazing. Typically never write reviews but please watch your bill as we were over charged. Don't think I will ever dine there again. Very unhappy and disappointed! read more

We've eaten there twice since late October and both times the steak we had (tournedos of beef) were EXCELLENT. The sides and desserts, however, were mediocre AT BEST. Disappointing, as the sides should be as outstanding as the main dish. The sides were unimaginative, bland and even when a bit more imaginative, not executed well: example - most recently they served spaghetti squash, which we both like, but with a pesto and it is too watery a vegetable to be served that way, unless the pesto is really heavy and won't become watered down. Unfortunately, the pesto that was there was either too little or far too weak. The smashed potatoes had no texture, as they were made with red skins, which just make the dish pasty. Sad. The dessert, was probably a frozen Sysco one that had been in the cooler too long. Short on flavor or texture. Need to step it up as the food is expensive and both these meals disappointed. read more

We were in Tallahassee for 1 night on business and had a hard time finding a restaurant without a drive through window. Lot's of franchises, Chili's, burgers, Olive Garden etc. Logic told us that a state capital with it's cigar chomping lobbyists and pols would have a high end steak house to work their deals in. Shula's may aspire to this, but doesn't deliver the meat. Nice room, good service, the sides were actually better than some of the steak houses I've been to. The cowboy rib eye was tough, gristly and not very tasty. My associate sent it back and it was replaced with a filet quickly and cheerfully. I stuck with it, but probably should not have. I've gotten better cuts of meat at a grocery store. Oddly, they brag about "wet aging", and the meat looks like it's cooked in a hot oven rather than a grill, no char on the outside. No caramelization. Odd. Better meat and a hotter grill would raise the rating here. read more

The cocktails and service were great! But the food was vastly overpriced for the quality. My husband and I ordered the fish of the day, and it was so over-cooked that it had the consistency of chicken and was tough to cut into. read more

You have a tough time beating this place. It's downtown, the food is excellent, and always in demand. Okay, there can be a wait, but solve that and make a reservation. You're always treated like royalty, and the menu is awesome. It's a "MUST SEE," when it comes to the Capital City. Don't waste your money on subpar food and attitude. Ordered a salad with seared tuna and sweet potato fries. Took over an hour for take out to my hotel room and when I got to the room 2 mins later the fries were cold and soggy. Salad was ok, but not worth $18. Better recommendation is to walk to one of the nearby restaurants. Recommend Bird's Aphrodisiac Oyster Shack or Masa. read more

When I ordered a medium fillet it came well done... Brown through most of it. When I sent it back, they left my date's food to get cold on the table. Finally, when the manager came he said it was to be expected that when you ask for a medium steak it will come out closer to medium rare or close to medium well. WTF! When I order medium well it should be medium well and medium rare then it should be medium rare. BUT medium as described on the menu should be a warm pink center; Marie Livingston's steak kills the Tallahassee Shula steak for half the price. read more

I have gone to Shula's before and from my past experiences would have easily given it 4 stars. But yesterday was different. The service was great but the food quality has certainly declined. I ordered the lobster bisque and cowboy ribeye, the soup tasted like a can and the steak was like something you would get at walmart. $46.00 for a tough, chewy, unmarbled cut of steak. The atmosphere is real nice and so are the cocktails but if you're going to spend this much money, trust me, go somewhere else. read more

I was excited to try Shula's 347 but was surprisingly not impressed with the food. I heard great things about the restaurant since they opened in Tallahassee but as a true steak lover, I was disappointed with the quality of my meat. My husband and I both tried the Cowboy Steak and it was not tender and there was absolutely no flavor. Great steaks don't require a lot of spices or any seasoning but Shula's 347 needed to add a little bit of salt and pepper because the overall taste of the steak was just awful. Initially, I was going to order the filet but I love bone-in ribeye's and the server advised this was the best steak to get on the menu. The sides to accompany the steaks were bland and lacking in flavor as well. My husband kept comparing 347 to Shula's in Miami and he could not believe the difference in quality. We know 347 is meant to be slightly different than the original Shula's but you expect quality from any Shula restaurant. We did enjoy the service, the staff went above and beyond to make sure we enjoyed our visit. It's nice to see a better dining option in Tallahassee but we will not return. read more

Dined while staying at the attached hotel and I must say it was Excellent! I ordered the pecan crusted salmon it came with mashed potatoes and broccoli and some greens. That plate was clean when I was done, Everything was delicious! Will be back to go for the steak next time. read more

Yesterday was my birthday so my husband wanted to take me to Shula's. Our waiter, Samuel was very thorough providing us information about the menu. He suggested the white sangria which was just mediocre, I could barely taste the alcohol. When he brought out my husband's drink he spilled it all over us smh. We didn't make a fuss about it because we're just positive ppl but it was very disappointing since I was already somewhat down about the inauguration. The manager came to our table at the end of our dinner to apologize but smirked while doing so. They brought us the full bill as if service went completely normal smh. It was extremely disheartening and left me feeling that the only way they would've given us the proper customer service that we deserved was a) if we were white and/or b) if we would've behaved belligerently after the young man made a mistake. We did not come to Shula's with a desire to get a free/discounted meal but that is the least we could've gotten seeing as how we wore an alcoholic beverage home (on a new dress might I add). We will never return again because the food did not help the situation at all read more

23rd wedding anniversary dinner. From the hostess to the waiter Christian chimed in on our occasion and referenced us by name. Christian was very knowledgeable about items on menu, suggestions, and all around very attentive to us. I got the cowboy steak with asparagus and sweet potato fries. My favorite part of the meal was the fries, the steak was juicy and just lacked flavor to me. My asparagus had burnt tips as well. I ate at the bar and the bartender/server Michelle was knowledgeable, attentive and extremely pleasant. I just thought that for 40 dollars the steak should have been better than lone star steakhouse. We were just there for my son's FSU graduation. We were there before 6 since that was all that was available, so it was pretty quiet, but did fill up as the night went on. We had a great meal and wonderful service! Yes, it was pricey, but definitely felt worth it to us, considering the occasion. The steak was delicious, the wine was great, and the servers were so very polite and accommodating. One of us had the tuna, and thought that was also delicious! Went there on my 1st visit to Tally. Very friendly wait staff and bartenders. One bartender in particular was exceptionally friendly and quite good looking - can't recall her name. Because I did not want to spend for the steak, I got a burger instead. Perfectly medium, juicy, tasty. Got the mashed potatoes and not the fries also a good choice. Later went upstairs to the Rooftop Hotel Duval. Pretentious. Very. Baretnders are extremely cute and sexy but the place is Ok I guess if you like that kind of fake- upscale. read more

The sides were excellent. A better steak for less money can be had at Outback or Longhorn. We had a very attentive waitress on our previous visit, but tonight our waiter pretty much ignored us. Reservations & valet parking are a nice touch but the place is quite expensive for Tallahassee and frankly just not worth the price. read more

I truly love this place. The service is very professional yet we felt right at home. The food was delicious from beginning to end. I loved the decor and just the whole evening was ideal. After hearing good things about this establishment before going, I was surprised to hear from patrons upon arrival not to get the steak sandwich. Thought that was weird as this is supposed to be a steak house. Anyways, I went with the Filet and ordered it medium well because the waiter explained there would be light pink in the center which is how I like it. It came back super tough with no pink at all. I sent it back and it took 20 minutes to get a new one which I ordered medium this time to cut them some slack. It came back rare so I sent back again. Of course at that time my girlfriend was already done with her meal. Being as this place is supposed to be classy (I mean when they bring out the pepper and you can choose between course or fine), I thought we would at least get a apology, a free drink, or something. Once again I was disappointed by Shula's. If it wasn't for the service, which was very good by a waiter named Mica, I would give it no stars. As in our experience last time, the steaks were overcooked and two of the entrees in our eight person party were returned. The unique Cosmo they advertised just tasted bad (Grand Marnier instead of Cointreau), and overall the food was unappealing and certainly not worth the $40.00 we paid per entree. The calamari appetizer was actually good, and the grilled shrimp app was average. My husband's second steak was also overcooked. The birthday decorations that were promised for my son's birthday were not on the table, and the birthday dessert I chose in advance with a candle never materialized. My son and his friends waited so long for dessert they just left. My husband and I drove a long way to take my son and his 6 friends out to a nice dinner and we were very disappointed. They need to get it together or lower their prices by 2/3. Texas Roadhouse would have been better and wouldn't have cost $500.00. read more

Overall, 347 is ok. I have been here 4-5 times, but it is really more out of convenience than anything else. I usually am traveling for work solo, so prefer to sit at the bar. Which brings me to my biggest complaint: who ever heard of a bar with 6 seats, and two 2-tops! It really is nothing more than a service bar with a couple of high tops. The steaks are decent, but not memorable. The food is good, but the menu is generally disappointing in its variety. I understand that it is a steakhouse, which generally demands a simpler menu, but it would be nice to see the chef use some creativity in the kitchen. If I don't want a steak, the menu reminds me of most room service menus at a major chain hotel. The service, however, has always been great, at least at the bar. Angel and Michele, although busy throughout the night, always manage to stay in front of anyone's needs. Summary: decent food, fairly priced, good atmosphere (although not necessarily at the bar as it's too small), great service. read more
