This is one review that I could not wait to do because I love when a random decision turns out to be a wonderful experience. The hostess was absolutely wonderful. She didn't just drop us off at our table and leave, but she made sure to mention who was waiting on us. The little things I didn't ever think I would appreciate. The ambiance was really cool vibes. I love being able to see the kitchen and the bar was very nice centerpiece that just added to the vibes. The music level was close to perfect and the music selection felt very inclusive and yet still felt the representation. This was literally a random stop because our first choice was closed so I was totally not dressed to fit in so I am thankful no one made me feel out of place. The waitress was so nice and friendly. Really everyone was friendly. I even loved when we left the chefs were telling us "thank you" and "have a nice night." The food, OMG!!! Hands down THE best food spot I've had for dinner in Norfolk. This place even beats out the BC. We started with the pork bites and baaby before I knew it, it was devoured (10/10). The way the huge piece of pork loin was tender, juicy, and flavorful should be studied (10/10). The sweet potato purée and southern veggies paired wonderfully. The chicken?! Juicy!!! (8/10). I don't even care for creamed corn but here was next level. What I also don't care for is bread pudding, but OMG the complimentary dessert sent me over the moon. I wanted more (12/10). 350 Grace was absolutely bussin and a true culinary experience. I can't wait to return in more appropriate clothing. It's definitely a date night and anniversary type vibe without the over expensive prices in case you just want to show up by yourself. What a truly disappointing experience. Let me start off by saying that the food was delicious. Without a doubt some of the best dishes I've had since I moved to Norfolk. You would think this would earn the restaurant points, but it just further added to the dissatisfaction. How can a restaurant with such good food be so unpleasant to be in? From the moment I stepped in and interacted with the curt hostess everything was so tense and stressful. Unfortunately the last two reviews of this restaurant completely match my experience tonight. We were rushed and pressured to place orders quickly or lose our right to eat there. I will admit that not all of my party was present on time. But I (the one who made the reservation) and another guest arrived right on time to claim our table. This establishment's policies around ordering are so strict and rigid that it's impossible to relax and enjoy yourself. Life happens, people show up late and things don't always go to plan. The inability for the staff to adapt and accommodate leaves the guests feeling as if their presence is a burden. No one goes to a sit down restaurant to simply get their food and leave. Fine dining is also about the experience. I specifically sought out a Black-owned restaurant to patronize in recognition of Black History Month. To be made to feel so unwelcome after being so intentional about being in that restaurant was the worst part of the whole thing. 350 Grace, do better. You've got the food down. Ambiance is good, one would think it's a little fancy than most with its high ceilings, rich hued walls, modern clean decor. Ambiance a 4. The kitchen was visible from the dining area, albeit seemed less appointed and less attended (only chef and 1 sous chef) than a typical fine dining restaurant. The chefs would greet us as they stood from the kitchen - an uncommon gesture, on one hand seemingly welcoming but on the other just telling that it hadn't been a busy night. Service was great, a 5. Hidden location across from Wic and Sip. I recall coming here when it was a Turkish restaurant so that's how we were able to find the it. The place felt new and clean. Loved the modern and simple decor and style. Upon arrival I didn't think we were going to eat here because we didn't have reservations and the hostess made it seem like it was a bit inconvenient. However, she ended up waiting on us and did a great job. They seemed low staff for a Friday, but loved how they worked together as a team. The food was delicious! We just enjoyed a fine dinner at 350 Grace. Was able to get a same day reservation and I'm glad we did. It's tucked into a back corner spot, a little hard to find but well worth it. Our delightful server, Ember, was engaging and efficient, taking great care of us. We had the fried oyster appetizer, which is worth the money, unusual but very good. My wife enjoyed her shrimp and grits and I was impressed by the execution and presentation of my crispy skinned salmon dish. We also were pleased to each receive a free mini dessert, a type of warm bread pudding with some ice cream which was wonderful! This is my new favorite spot in Norfolk. I've been there maybe three or four times now, and each time has been better than the last. So far, I've had the rib appetizer, the watermelon salad, and another appetizer that I'm evading. I have had the pork dish with hot sauce and the New York strip as entrees. The service has always been premier. Each time I've been served by the owners's wife. She is communicative, professional, and accommodating. She's a great asset to this team. Unfortunately, it just wasn't an inviting experience. We had a 5:15pm reservation and the restaurant was not crowded at all. Wait staff indicated the chef would not allow us to order drinks until we were ready to order our appetizers and entrees. Something about other reservations coming in and the food had to be staged. Perfect place to eat. I stumbled across this place while visiting the area on business. It was so good, I drove three hours the very next weekend to come back. The vibe is giving metro-luxury. Thankfully, food quality and hospitality accommodating a dairy-free diner in our party made our visit special. Wowowowow!!! What a hidden gem! Started with a phenomenal oyster appetizer. Husband has the pork loin ( deliciously grilled and a little spicy). I had the salmon...perfectly cooked. We added the potato chip crust crab Cake...zero and I mean zero filler. Sides were true southern dishes: mashed sweet potatoes, greens, charred corn. The chef sent over a small maple bourbon bread pudding with vanilla ice cream and whipped cream. I could have eaten a bucket of it. Excellent!!!! My girlfriends took me out for a belated birthday celebration last night and we couldn't have chosen a better restaurant. 350 Grace was EVERYTHING! Our experience at this black-owned, chef-owned restaurant was amazing. From the time we walked in the door we were pleased with the beautiful decor and the colors...and I always love an open-concept chef's kitchen. While it was clear that there was not a lot of staff to attend to the Thursday night crowd, we never felt neglected or experienced any service delays. Instead, our hostess (chef's wife btw) took very good care of us and was very attentive. When the food came out--from the starters to the complementary dessert finish--every dish was plated beautifully AND DELICIOUS! Between the 4 of us, we tasted almost everything on the menu and it all tasted like love! It's hard to believe chef made all of this magic happen in the kitchen basically solo. And, if you're concerned, like I was initially, about the menu being all gluten free...DON'T BE! We did not miss one bit of gluten when the flavors hit our palettes! We even had the pleasure of being greeted by the chef and learning more about his storied history as an executive chef at many establishments around Norfolk before opening his own restaurant. We visited for dinner after wanting to try this place for a long time. We were greeted warmly by Michelle and Erik and informed that there was no bartender this evening so we could order beer or wine. No biggie, but the cocktail menu looked good! Wine selection is small but thoughtful and the ones we ordered were very good. We had the turnip fries as an appetizer -- very tasty with housemade ketchup and remoullade. Entrees were the shrimp and Cheddar grits with andouille sausage, and pork loin with a hot honey BBQ and the best mashed sweet potatoes I've ever had. Everything was fresh and delicious, and service was attentive and friendly. We got little dessert tastes for free -- a chocolate avocado mouse (!) and a bourbon caramel bread pudding. Love, love, love!!! This is now my new favorite restaurant!! My babe wanted to dine out this past Friday night. Therefore it was up to me to choose a restaurant. The weather was bone-chilling and I figured we dine somewhere close to home. Babe wasn't feeling that idea... I checked my handy dandy Yelp app and saw this restaurant featured as 'hot and new' - hmmmm... I checked out the menu and a few pictures and was intrigued. I called about an hour ahead of time to secure a reservation just because. I spoke with someone and secured a table for two at 7:30 pm on Friday night. It was a little hard to spot, but the restaurant is located in the Palace Shops parking lot...right next to Just Cupcakes and near Mermaid Winery. I did dial the number again to reconfirm, but there is a small sign out front with 350 Grace... I guess we both were so excited, we both looked passed the sign. We walked in and was immediately greeted by Herb. Tall and slender, his amazing energy was felt! There was one couple at the bar and about four other parties dining in. The restaurant wasn't packed at all. I was thrilled, because I knew I was going to have questions and wanted to interact with the staff to get a feel of this new restaurant. Throughout the night, the restaurant wasn't packed at all. After speaking with our waiter, Steve, he mentioned this was the first Friday since opening (September 2019) that the crowd was light. Good for us... we were able to speak with everyone on staff... Herb - greeter, bartender... overall a great guy! Super friendly, love him! He blessed my spirit with not one, but three margaritas!! Every single one was on point... better and better! Steve - waiter... nice guy! Keep us informed and even took a few minutes out to engage in conversation with us! A very delicate piece of fish!!! So yummy!! Peach cobbler - my first time having peach cobbler!!! Just Right!!! I would order this again! Now... the cocktails!!! Margaritas are hard to come by... consistency lacks at most restaurants I have visited! But at 350 grace... they taste homemade!!! Fresh everything!! You can tell!!! My new favorite restaurant in Hampton Roads. I am came across this recommendation on a gluten free group on FB and made a reservation right away! The whole menu is gluten free! I was also pleasantly surprised by a huge mocktail menu which made dry January so much more exciting tonight for date night! My husband ordered the shrimp & grits and I had the lamp chops. We shared the fried oyster appetizer and were surprised with complimentary desserts to taste at the end - a delicious chocolate mousse and the BEST bread pudding (yes, gluten free too!!). Horrible experience. Had reservations for 6 last night (Friday night). Only four people in my party arrived on time. The restaurant was not busy (three people total inside before we arrived and one of them was sitting at the bar) only one Chef cooking for the evening (Chef is the owner). I understand two guests were late, things happen and because of this my party decided to move forward with our evening without them since we had reservations. The Chef/owner refused to take the order from the four of us but mind you we were initially rushed to order by the hostess as soon as we arrived because she wanted us to know that the Chef was the sole Chef that evening. Once the Chef realized our party wasn't whole the hostess comes back and tells us that we couldn't order until the other two guests arrived and could we call and get their order over the phone. We decide at this time it's best to leave because this makes no sense. Why can't you take my party of four order and if the two show, take their order when they arrive. I think it's important to note that this all took place in a 30 minute time span and the Chef/owner also noted that he only has a 15 minute grace period for reservations. I understand and respect policy, so again I knew it was time for us to leave. Chef/owner proceeds to come over and explain himself, which I advised him there was no need to do so, since we were leaving. He gets upset because I'm asking him to save his speech we understand your policy, even if we don't agree and that we would be leaving after we received and finished our drinks (since we had ordered prior to being told he wouldn't take our order). Chef/owner proceeds to cut me off. He was very rude and egotistical during this exchange. Disappointing and embarrassing was the experience. As the Chef/owner informed us as he came to our table "this is why he doesn't take parties our size", so please keep this in mind when patronizing this business if you need accommodations for a party of 4+. I had guests visiting from out of town and was hoping to support a black owned business but this establishment will never get another cent from me or a recommendation due to the treatment my party of four received during a time that the restaurant wasn't full or busy (clearly if the Chef/owner had time to come to our table and argue with us he wasn't cooking-just saying). PLUS: let me also add that the menu received in the restaurant is not the posted menu online. read more

They make everything once you order, and a reservation makes everything run so smoothly. Now don't go and be in a rush! You will have to be patient. The place is small and intimate and immaculately clean! The staff is small, pleasant, and extremely helpful. I suggest you start off with a cocktail to cleanse your palette. The crispy catfish is amazing, and the hit sauce that comes with it sets it off. The potato salad that is served with is top teir. The pickled onions, peppers, and cucumbers I need the recipe. I don't like onions and ate every drop. The salmon is set on a corn and veggie broth with truffle oil. When I tell you I wanted a bowl of that as a soup!!! Sooooo good and crispy full of flavor. The pork loin was so thick, full of flavor, and the veggies and sweet potato mash it came with kept me begging for more. I will be back, and I hope the chef creates a cookbook. Love it. If I had not read it previously, I would not have known their entire menu was gluten-free. Nothing was lacking in flavor or textures in the least. The cornish hen I ordered was cooked perfectly with an amazing molasses-based glaze. The beef short rib appetizer was also so well cooked and flavorful. My husband and I dined here on a Friday night without reservations. It was the ninth night they have been open so still technically during their "soft opening". The staff was very friendly as we were seated immediately. The manager, Herb stopped by to tell us about the chef and restaurant details. Our waitress was knowledgeable and very conversational. She was well versed on the wine list and did a great job helping me select a red wine. The decor is classy and looks nice, although a bit sparse. Maybe due to the newness? The acoustics in the space are pretty loud. It is something my husband and I immediately commented on as we were seated. It has an open kitchen and a nice sized bar with seating. We were told the menu will change as they are still working on things. The menus are each printed on a piece of paper so we had several sitting on our table to keep from blowing off onto the floor (dinner, wine, dessert menu, etc). I would hope that as they progress that the menus will go in an actual menu book. For the price you pay for the food, the menu presentation deserves that. Menu selections were nice such as shrimp and grits, hen chicken, salmon, meatloaf. The prices were high. Higher than I expected. Although my salmon was amazing, it was still pretty expensive (upper $20's). My husband was not overly impressed with his chicken. I think for the price he thought it would be better, but he said "it was just chicken". The little baby cornbread muffins they bring out prior to the entree were delicious. Served with 2 choices of a soft butter and a tomato based spread as well. If you are gluten free this is a nice option for you as everything in the restaurant is gluten free so there is no worry for cross contamination. Too pricey for me to dine there on the regular occasion although I hope that they do very well. Overall, I'm torn between a 3/4 star rating here. I upped to a 4 because of the great service and my personal entree (salmon) was amazing. read more

350 Grace is one of our very favorite restaurants in Norfolk and really anywhere in the States. It is reminisant of some of the farm to table restaurants in Charleston, SC. A southern cuisine with a light french flair. It has its own amazing flavor identity. The service is top-notch. DeShon made me the best Classic Old Fashioned that I have ever had in all of my travels and is a class act. Eric, our server, is always ready with a smile and catered to all of our needs with a genuine desire to satisfy his customers. Mrs Moats is extremely kind and accommodating. She always remembers us when we come back and greets us like old friends. Chef Willie Moats is crushing everything in the kitchen. Everything he creates at 350 has been amazing. 350 Grace is a contemporary southern style restaurant that first opened in September of 2019. It took over the space previously occupied by Pasha Mezze, a Turkish restaurant that closed in January of that year. It is tucked away in a hideaway location along the 22nd Street side of the Palace Shops & Station in Ghent. Their parking space is currently shared with Just Cupcakes next door and the Mermaid Winery a few steps away. It was opened under the ownership of Willie Moats and his wife, Michelle. Chef Moats has a prolific culinary resume in Hampton Roads, dating back to the 1980s when he worked with Todd Jurich. His previous stint as a chef was at Byrd & Baldwin Brothers Steakhouse in downtown Norfolk. 350 Grace is the first restaurant he has opened on his own. Their menu is gluten free, which was inspired by his Michelle's gluten intolerance. Their menu is a tribute to traditional southern cuisine with the addition of some modern and innovative touches. Their dishes sparkle with beautiful presentations. The interior of their restaurant exudes a casually elegant ambience with a relaxed and inviting feel. I've felt totally at ease here with each of my visits. They have an open kitchen, where you can watch Chef Moats in action. A fully stocked bar is available, and a private dining area in the rear seats around 24 people. Reservations are recommended. I tried to visit as a walk-in one evening, only to be told that they were all booked up with prior reservations. I made a reservation from that point forward. I have visited three times this year--once in April and twice in June. Their menu, which changes weekly, was presented on a single sheet of paper each time with a few selections from their online menu and some new ones as well. Not every dish on their online menu is available every evening. I have ordered and enjoyed the following: CRISPY NORTH ATLANTIC SALMON: With Sweet Corn, Sundried Tomatoes, Roasted Tomatoes, Charred Spinach, and White Truffle Oil Compound Butter. This was one of the most outstanding salmon dishes I have ever ordered. The encrusted exterior delivered a nice crisp, and the salmon was cooked as requested to a medium rare temperature with a beautiful pink interior hue and to a delicious result. The flavors and textures of the sweet corn, tomatoes, spinach, and compound butter all contributed to form an even more exquisite taste experience. My Rating: 5-Plus Stars. GRILLED WHOLE MARINATED RED SNAPPER: With Cucumber Salad, Dry Roasted Baby Potatoes, and Sweet Pea Vinaigrette. I love a good whole fish dish, and this was a good one. I had been craving one for a long time. I always enjoy the extra layers of flavor that come with the skin, bones, and head. The snapper was filled with an abundance of deliciously tender and flaky fish meat that I savored slowly as I patiently picked away the bones. The dry roasted potatoes were tender and divine. The sweet pea vinaigrette was delicious and exhibited a beautiful green tone, which I did not see until I reached the bottom of the fish. If I could tweak the presentation a bit, I would have shown some of the vinaigrette oozing out from under the fish and onto the plate for greater eye appeal. There were a few spots on the fish that were a bit over charred for my tastes. Otherwise, this whole fish dish succeeded in satisfying my cravings. I got my fix and was very satisfied. My Rating: 4 Stars. PUREE OF SWEET YELLOW CORN SOUP: With Backfin Crab Meat and Charred Mustard Greens. This one was listed as one of their Appetizers for the evening. I was in the mood for some soup, and this one hit the spot nicely. The yellow corn puree delivered a remarkable depth of flavor and texture. The crab meat and mustard greens were tasty and attractive touches. It could have been just a tad warmer temperature wise. Otherwise, the soup was delicious and very satisfying: My Rating: 4.5 Stars. CAJUN STRIPED BASS; With Sweet Potato Grits, Charred Spinach, Corn Butter Sauce, and Stewed Tomatoes. It had been years since I enjoyed a striped bass dish, and this one was excellent. The filet was expertly cooked with tender and delicious bites of skin and fish meat intact. The supporting ingredients formed a colorful presentation and a wonderful taste experience. The sweet potato grits were fantastic. My Rating: 5 Stars. Complimentary miniature desserts are currently being served after each meal. Their Avocado Chocolate Mousse and Bread Pudding were both outstanding. My Rating: 5 Stars. The service I received during each of my visits was warm, friendly, and attentive. My servers were constantly checking up on me and keeping my water glass full. In planning for future visits, I am looking forward to trying their Aunt Becky's Meatloaf Meatballs, Grilled Organic Pork Loin, and their Carolina Shrimp and Roasted Red Grits. Great food!! Service is excellent. Atmosphere is classy date night feel. But relaxing not snobbish.

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed the ambiance, service, and food at 350 Grace. We were greeted warmly when we arrived, and provided quality service throughout the evening. Our meals were exceptional. I had lamb chops; they were tender and flavorful. My husband had the chicken; he thoroughly enjoyed the creative Southern flair. The hostess noticed my husband had a drink and I didn't; she inquired about it. I told her I do not care for the taste of alcohol. She asked the bartender to make a mock tail for me; it was a perfect tropical paradise. I highly recommend 350 Grace for an extraordinary meal and stellar service in a warm and inviting atmosphere. read more

We enjoyed an outstanding meal here! I had the excellent crispy salmon, my husband had the shrimp and my son had steak. All were excellent and accompanied by unique and delicious sides. Our appetizers were also amazing as was the attentive staff. The complementary desserts were literally the icing on the cake! Well this is a true hidden gem. For real I never knew this place was here until I was visiting a bakery near this place and happen to look over and see 350 Grace atop an entrance. I like trying out local places and it does not get any more local than this with the head chef being from Norfolk. It is a slightly different take on Southern food but from my recent visit I think anyone will find something to please them. The menu is small but to me that is a good thing as they concentrate on a few items. I like it when restaurants concentrate on what you they do best instead of trying to have everything for everyone. As Bruce Lee said "I fear not the man who has practiced 10,000 kicks once, but I fear the man who had practiced one kick 10,000 times." The food I had shows that 350 Grace has polished their skills be it with the drinks, appetizers, or the entrées. I asked for my steak to be a medium rare and even at some of the most high end steakhouses this still cannot be done right. Thank you 350 and feel free to show some of these other places how it is done. The horseradish sauce was a very nice compliment as I am usually an A1 type of guy when it comes to my steaks. It was not overpowering and match perfectly with the slight char on the steak. Definitely something different and what I would recommend to try if you visit this establishment.
