The food here is very good. The tzatziki was excellent, and the pita that came with it was decent. We also had a Greek salad, ajvar (red pepper spread, which I didn't particularly like), dolmas, which were very good, and the beef souvlaki, which was exceptional. Service was perfectly fine. My main criticism is the lunch menu, or really the lack of one. It feels like they serve essentially the same menu all day, without many of the options you'd expect at lunch: adding grilled meat to a salad, for example, or getting a gyro or souvlaki sandwich. I found that surprisingly limiting, particularly given how good the food is, and it may help explain why the restaurant wasn't busier at lunch. Because of the way the menu is structured, we ended up mostly sharing starters and then splitting one main course, which worked fine but seems like an odd way to have to build a lunch. One nice feature is the outdoor seating. The tables are shaded, and the patio faces an alley rather than the street, which makes it noticeably quieter and more relaxing. Overall, very good food, highlighted by the excellent beef souvlaki and tzatziki. I'd happily return, but I wish they offered a more conventional lunch menu. read more

Esp when I was able to make last minute rezzies (an hour prior) and they had wide availability. The indoor dining room was packed and about 90% of the ample outdoor seating was filled. The house music was bumpin' and with the purple lighting inside, the whole vibe reminded me of Fluid Lounge in the city (iykyk). Sister resto to Roma Antica, Bottega, 'Napizza, and The Rustic in the city and Capri Lasagneria in Burlingame, Mykonos has been on my list to go to since they opened in 2020. For Burlingame standards, I found the Greek + Med fare with a full bar, to be fairly priced. They do charge a 4% hospitality fee. F O O D * Complimentary Pita Yea, it's commercial but hey, it's free and it's served warm and toasty. * Saghanaki: Pan-fried Kefalotyri Cheese w/ lemon + oregano ($14) Flamed tableside, the saghanaki makes for a great TT/reel with cheese pulls but it was just meh. It was very salty and the cast iron pan wasn't hot so the cheese quickly cooled and hardened. * Octopus w/ Greek-inspired chickpea puree ($19) Sous-vide then finished on the grill, the octopus was tender but could have used more time on the grill for a hotter temp and deeper char. The bed of chickpea puree was dry and gritty. * Lamb Riblets w/ lemon + oregano ($17) A generous portion of meltingly tender lamb riblets (5-6 bones) but I wasn't a fan of the indistinguishable brown sauce it was finished with. * Braised Lamb Shank w/ orzo & myzithra cheese ($34) A hearty comfort dish perfect for sharing, the braised lamb shank was perfectly cooked...so rich, tender, and savory with a pleasant gamey flavor. The accompanying orzo with olives was overly salty. Mykonos Meze is a wonderful little spot for Greek food, and since I don't typically like Greek or Mediterranean cuisine, that should tell you something. Situated in downtown Burlingame just off Burlingame Avenue, the restaurant is a popular spot for shoppers to stop in. It gets quite busy during peak hours, and my group of 8 was sure to avoid any wait times by making a reservation well ahead. We came in at 6pm, didn't leave until 9pm, and had a great time absorbing the atmosphere, listening to the amazing staff describe the dishes and their histories, and generally having a good time. My group was seated outdoors. The entire area is outfitted with heat lamps as sometimes Burlingame can get quite cold in the evening, but that wasn't an issue when we were there. Our table was large, and even in the outdoor area which is shared with a driveway, we felt comfortable and not squeezed in. The food, of course, is the star. It is really, REALLY good. I had the Chilean Seabass with roasted potatoes, served atop a lemon-infused beurre blanc (pictured). It was one of the best prepared fish I've ever had! The flavors were diverse and tasty, and the fish itself was cooked to perfection. I didn't even know what beurre blanc was before I had it, and now I need to learn to make it myself. Service was outstanding. For a group of 8, we were never lacking in drinks, utensils, additional appetizers, or anything. No orders were missed, everything came out relatively quickly, and servers were very nice. We skipped drinks and ordered food right away, starting with some Tzatziki to share. This was very tasty! Next, we shared the Lamb Riblet, Octopus, and Ouzo Mussels. The oven braised lamb riblets were solid - definitely very well-prepared. However, the Octopus was very disappointing. The texture was just so tough and rubbery, to the point where I had a hard time cutting through it. On the other hand, the Ouzo Mussels were the best dish of the evening. The sauce was so flavorful, we couldn't get enough of it! I just wish they had come with something softer than crostini to soak it up. Still got seated right away since bar seats and outdoor tables were available. At the bar, the bar tender was accommodating, chill, and had a great sense of humor. We ordered food right right away. Started off with the zucchini cakes and they were quite tasty. They were super flavorful and had a tasty dipping sauce that complemented this dish. The grilled octopus was gigantic and cooked to perfection, while not being rubbery. The lamb riblets were tasty as they were tender and served over a bed of arugula. The brussel sprouts were tasty, albeit a touch on the smaller side. Opted to share the chilean sea bass as the main course and it was gigantic. The sea bass was very fatty and buttery. I loved how this dish was served with some super soft potatoes and creamy spinach. The skin on the sea bass was also quite satisfying. The Galaktoboureko recommended by our waitress was merely so so. The name is apropos for this Greek joint, as the lighting and large bar make it feel like a Mykonos beachside club. This is not a bad thing, as it straddles the "good for family dinner" and "good for date night drinks" surprisingly well. The waitstaff are warm and friendly, if not sometimes a bit rushed to clear the table -- they twice tried to take plates we were still eating from, but from more of an "attentive-service" place. We opted to share several plates for a group of four, and this seems to be the right call. The dip platter is a MUST, with several variations that I had never tried before. Other standouts include the beef kebab and fried zucchini balls. The real winner was definitely dessert. I usually find desserts play second fiddle to the main courses of most restaurants, but this couldn't be further from the truth for Mykonos. The baklava was solid (the regular comes with a scoop of ice cream, in case you're like us and are not sold on the baklava-ice-cream alternative), but the BANANA PUDDING stole the show, from the fruity bottom all the way to the pistachio-encrusted top. I've had this place bookmarked for a while as a connoisseur of Mediterranean mezze plates. Do yourself a favor and try to make a reservation OR get lucky and they'll have a seat for you at the bar. This place can get crowded and loud - brings me back to my college days. However, thank god the food itself is not reminiscent to my college's dining commons. Now if you want to try a little bit of every dip, just ask for the sampler. And if you do get the sampler, the red/orange dip is my favorite. It's nutty with a little bit of a spice. I have no idea which dip it is on the menu and I'm scared to steer my yelp fans wrong (However looking at the menu, it might be the Tirokafteri. Hold the applause guys, I just looked for whichever dip said "spicy"). Next, my recommended dishes are the Dolmathes, the Lamb Riblet, the Fishermen's Pasta, and the Traditional Moussaka. If you really want to do yourself a favor and practice some self-love, you'd get the Fishermen's Pasta. Hands down the best dish I've tried here. The sauce was bursting with so much flavor that I almost developed synesthesia but for food. The Lamb Riblet was also a great standout because it fell off the bone so easily that I almost took the bones home to give to my dog (I don't have a dog). There was only one dish that was a bit disappointing and that was the Short Rib Pasta. Lack of flavor. Tasted like cardboard compared to everything else. Not that I know what cardboard tastes like but that's what I imagine it to be like. We love to come here for celebrations with my in-laws. Our last visit was for my husband's 30th birthday. Though it seems this is not unusual - there were like 6-8 birthday celebrations with free desserts and song from the restaurant. It is a bit pricer but lots of fun. Very dark lighting inside with many blue and yellowed hewed lights. Very tight crowded tables - it seems they have added more recently. Perhaps even make a little more room to walk without putting yourself or your clothes over other peoples tables when coming in and out. Outside is more open air, bright, and roomier with the tables. The service is great - manager / owner floats around checking in and making sure everything is running smoothly. The waiter we had had a heavy accent, was not very loud so he had to repeat things a bit, and was less familiar with the running of the restaurant than some of our others have been, but he was still nice and helpful getting our items out in a reasonable amount of time. I love the ambiance here it is very chic. Although we did sit at the bar, the customer service was still really good! The drinks were good! About $16 per cocktail. We got the sampler platter recommended to us by the bartender. Highly recommend! It was delicious. I got the lamb and it was good but not for me. It was a little gamey and did not care for the flavor of the dish altogether . But that is just my opinion everyone's tastebuds are different. We were a walk in and the waiter was super friendly. We had Feta And Olives, the warm pita, and the Tzatziki was delicious. It was nicely garlicky and creamy. All employees were so kind and very attentive. Special thanks to our server, Minor (not sure of the spelling), who presented each food with care and gave amazing recommendations. Minor had a great attitude and smile. Minor was very attentive and checked in on us often. We loved the sampler and its variety of taste. The pita bread came hot and fresh also. The octopus was so good, tender and well prepared. Calamari is fun to share and came with a great dip. The traditional moussaka is a great representation of the culture. It came hot and had a great taste. The fisherman's pasta is a seafood lovers dish! Dish was nicely prepared and tasted soo good. Lamb chops dish was a nice choice with the orzo.
