Wasn't as busy as the last time we where here a couple of weeks Ago. To me it seemed a little short staff, person, seating us, was also taking orders and bartering. I also believe I saw another waiter and two bus people they were working they were working really hard, applause to them they seem to pull it off. I liked this place but I think they might have either switched their cooks or something is going on. I think they purposely up their prices for Mother's Day, Valentine's Day etc., because our bill was ridiculous. Anyway...we ordered the bolognese pasta and vodka rigatoni with added chicken. Their chicken was extremely dry and hard to chew, the way they cooked it just didn't complement the dish at all. To top things off the pastas were under seasoned. Our server did not come to refill our water even ONCE. It was an extremely disappointing Mother's Day dinner. I don't think I'll be coming here again. read more

Cafe Figaro was packed on a Tuesday night. We arrived at 6:30pm with an indoor reservation. Upon arrival, we were told that another party was finishing up, and our table would be ready "in 3 minutes." Fast-forward to 30 minutes later (7pm) and our table still wasn't ready. We decided to just sit outside (despite this not being our preference and - again - we had a 6:30pm indoor reservation). An employee (said his name was Will) was friendly and apologetic - apparently 2 large tables rolled in without notice which threw off their planning for the evening. We understood and were empathetic, but at the same time, there was more that could have been done. Will mentioned that the party sitting at our table had already paid but continued to sit there, as if there was nothing he could do about it. However, I (and I'm pretty confident most people) have experienced being asked politely to wrap things up during a busy service when other guests are waiting on the table or have a reservation. Since he prioritized their table over us, he could have offered to comp us something small, but he didn't do that either. Food was tasty though prices were a bit steep. We also ordered 2 cocktails and were surprised how small they were. One final note: I originally ordered the Lavender Spritz cocktail. I was then informed they were out, so I tried to order a Last Word. Unfortunately, our waiter was unfamiliar with it. I asked if she could check with the bartender, and if they couldn't make a Last Word, I would take a margarita with tajin. She then asked me "what's tajin?" At that point, I gave up and told her I just wanted a regular margarita. Pretty disappointed as I've been dying to try Cafe Figaro for months after reading all the great reviews. read more

We loved our experience here! We have been here before but decided to order different items. We started with bread which comes with olive oil and vinegar along with herbs. Yum! We also had the Napa cabbage salad and the stuffed mushrooms. Both were delightful and warm. The mushrooms were piping hot and stuffed with Italian sausage and cheese, topped with like a bruschetta topping. The tomatoes complemented it well. The Napa cabbage salad is also warm and flavorful, and it comes with bacon, mushrooms, Dijon mustard and it tasted like gorgonzola cheese or blue cheese. For the entrees we opted to share the chicken piccata and the filet mignon pappardelle and this was phenomenal! The chicken piccata was perhaps a bit more overcooked than I would have liked but the flavor was good. It comes with a potato puree and a side of vegetables (broccoli, zucchini and yellow squash). The picatta sauce had the perfect amount of salt and flavor. The pasta was also perfectly cooked! And the steak was delicious and simple. I enjoyed the cherry tomatoes in the sauce and it comes with a cream marsala . Wow! Overall service was great and we enjoyed the quietness of the ambiance. This place has been around for so long for good reason. It's definitely on the pricier side, but you get what you pay for in the quality of the food, service, and overall experience! A reservation is recommended as it was pretty busy on a Tuesday night. The food was all amazing. We were immediately given bread & olive oil/balsamic vinegar. Our appetizers came so quick; the meatballs we got were very tender, bruschetta was okay. Our server was so attentive in clearing off our table for the entrees which also came so quickly! The only complaint was from my dad, he said the veal was a little tough. The rest of us loved our dishes. Pasta was all cooked perfectly and the sauces were well made! As we ate we noticed a man (presumably part of the family that owns the place) talking with customers by name (definitely regulars). Cafe Figaro always hits the spot whenever we are in mood for Italian. Tonight we ordered the stuffed mushrooms, the Napa cabbage salad, the famous Pappardelle, and the chicken piccatta to share. We loved it all. I appreciated how the stuffed mushrooms were served piping hot. There was steam coming out as I sliced into them. The chicken was tender and perfectly seasoned. Came here with my wife to celebrate our wedding anniversary (it's one of her favorite restaurants.) After eating here, I know why. The bartender remembered her from her first visit which was at least a year ago (amazing memory!) My whiskey sour was perfect, and the oil and vinegar dip was sweet and tangy. Our appetizers were the seared scallops (which I was just so so on but my wife liked them) and the stuffed mushrooms which were meaty and wonderful. The star of the show for me though was the pappardelle with its super thick noodles and the sauce which I used my bread to sop up every ounce of. Although it was a Thursday night, the place was full (many seemed like regulars) so they must be doing something right. Well worth a visit! read more

I came here for a friend's early bday dinner. She had made a reservation & we still waited close to 30 mins before we were actually sat. Not to mention, the neglect we felt & on top of that they had sat another party right before us... even though we had waited first. It was a 5min difference, but still... that's rude. So for that, service was so so. It left a bad 1st impression. Although, when it came time for dinner they became more attentive & efficient. Food was coming out pretty fast too, which was nice. Glad I made reservations. The restaurant is super cute old school Italian vibe. Wine bottles line the wall along with movie art (Scarface). The staff were personable and very attentive. Olive oil with vinegar and herbs is served with bread and is a complimentary starter. I ordered the fettuccine alla adriatica- creamy garlic sauce with rock shrimp and scallops. So good- you can taste how fresh the ingredients are. The wine list is extensive. They also offer seasonal specials, so make sure to check that menu out. Amazing vibes! Everything was beautiful--the artwork, the dim lighting, the candles, even the staff lol. Had a reservation for Saturday at 5:30 for a party of 18 including a child with a high chair and they had everything set up for when we arrived. By 6pm, the restaurant is packed and there's a lively chatter which adds to the fun atmosphere. The food was pretty good too, not the best Italian I've had in the Bay but pretty solid. I liked the prosciutto with buratta, the calamari, and the mushroom veal dish (Vitello al Funghi e Marsala), although that wasn't super filling. We had the mista salad and calamari to start. I had the lasagna and the other dish was a seafood fettuccine. Everything was delicious and cooked well. It was a little bit late for us so dessert was skipped this time. Definitely going back! I saw the table next to us had some complaints. My first time at this quiet, Burlingame Italian restaurant. Wow, what a find! Started of with a basket of Italian bread and balsamic/herbs dipping olive oil and a bowl of creamy white clam chowder. We had a reservation at this restaurant on a rainy Sunday evening and were not expecting a full house. Walked in and the place was packed! We were told that it would be a bit of a wait to get seated. But since they had outdoor seating, we decided to just go for that. It was actually a better choice as it was calmer, less crowded, well lit, covered and spacious. Our servers were very pleasant, professional and attentive. We were pleasantly surprised that our food came out pretty quickly. We were very impressed with the food. Good portion and the flavors were on point. For starters, we enjoyed the delicious bread dipping oil. The calamari fritti appetizer was so good! Alicia was one of the kindest, most patient servers I've encountered, offering thoughtful recommendations for both food and wine that truly delivered. Ramone, on the other hand, completely stole the show--with a smile that makes you smile back and a humor you don't expect but instantly appreciate. Together, they made the experience unforgettable. I'm Sicilian and my dad was a chef, and it's honestly hard to find Italian food this good--even on the peninsula. The rigatoni alla vodka was unbelievable, perfectly balanced and comforting. The sole was fresh and light, cooked beautifully, and the Caesar salad--often overlooked--was one of the best I've ever had. Everything arrived piping hot, with perfect proportions: satisfying without being heavy, and just enough to take a little home. The true star of the show--though it may sound silly--was the balsamic and olive oil served with the bread. Absolute liquid gold. The kind of thing you dream about later. If the owner is reading this: you are sitting on something special, and it deserves to be bottled.
