For a self proclaimed "chef inspired" restaurant the food is below average to average and pricey. Recently ordered the Chick From Parma sandwich described as a Parmesan Crusted Chicken Breast, Sunday's Gravy, Mozzarella on an Italian Roll. What I got was an obviously frozen breaded chicken patty-like you used to get in high school cafeteria topped with Ragu sauce along with a side of old, cold french fries. Better than typical menu with traditional and special offerings. We ordered hot chix sandwich and turkey dinner and both were fresh and tasty. While it's hard to give diner fare a 5-star I offer a solid 4-star for food with a +1-star for great service!! Definitely returning to try different offerings. read more

The Mexacali Tacos are amazing. I'm not a fan of blackened shrimp, so they did a simple grilled shrimp for me. We have been here several times and are never disappointed. An amazing kitchen, we have had breakfast, lunch and dinner in 39 at least two dozen times. The food is well above diner faire and service has been exceptional. The outside is great for dining weather permitting. We wife and I always enjoyed a good diner, 39 is the best we have had. read more

We had a wonderful lunch here today. We were able to BYOB and enjoyed the food and service very much. Juan is a very friendly and pleasant server. We had the triple play lunch which included soup, salad, 1/2 sandwich and beverage for a reasonable price. The crab cakes were the best I've had anywhere with a crispy yet light breading and delicious sauce. The Asian salad with crispy wontons was delicious as well. I had been here before for lunch with a friend, decided to come back again for dinner. Ordered the same sandwich I had previously had, this time it was so greasy I had to wipe it off with my napkin! But my companion got a far worse experience, he ordered the turkey triple decker. When it came out, sadly completely alone on the plate, apparently it comes with nothing, as opposed to mine which came with either fries or a salad?! Not even a pickle? Well it was also bone dry! Just dry toast no mayo & worst of all NO bacon!!!! Even though upon checking when we got home, it clearly states that BACON is on the sandwich, Without doubt it was the worst sandwich he had ever purchased. For us, it was a one & done. Diner level at best ., at least on this night i would assume chef/owner not present. App Mac bites from box . Burgers overcooked to well when asked for med/rare . Accompaniments that were supposed be on specialty burger were missing. Sautéed onions and bacon jam not present. I had high hopes for this place so I'm sad about it . They did bring the onions when asked by replacing sliders with the now hockey puck overcooked burger. Was hoping more love went into this place . Owner needs a wake up call for this to be successful. We had a fabulous breakfast here last week. Hubby had two eggs over with sausage and I had a TAYLOR HAM, egg and cheese on a roll. The food came out piping hot and the portion was certainly generous. The best part though was the very pleasant staff and the food was DELICIOUS. read more

Meh. Lobster Mac and cheese at $18 was velveeta shells with freezer burned minuscule lobster and shrimp that wasn't even part of the description. Gross. Shrimp tacos - with cold shrimp and a rice bowl that was also lacking flavor. Overall not impressed. I will say our service was great. Our waitress was so nice. The food was what you would expect for a diner, it was good but not amazing. For 3 meals, 2 cups of coffee, and 3 orange juices we spent well over $100 with tip. I find that to be absolutely absurd for breakfast. If you're looking for overpriced diner food this place is it. We enjoyed our breakfast at this Diner happy to see the improvements made to this restaurant. The omelet I had was shrimp beef and cheese delicious. The waitress was friendly and helpful. Me and my family wanted to get breakfast this morning and we were excited because the food is great. We were very disappointed. The service was horrible. Our waitress was miserable and awkward and didn't even introduce herself. My sister asked for an iced macchiato and the waitress looked panicked like it wasn't on the menu. When the rest of us got our drinks, she threw them at the table. Then our food came out before the iced macchiato did. The food was great and everything we expected, when the macchiato came it was hot and not a macchiato.
