All of a sudden, we started at 200 and ended at 500 because he drove it, and apparently another brake line snapped. His labor costs are absolutely ridiculous. Not to mention, shop hours are until 5pm. My husband let him know we were coming in to pick up the truck - would have been nice if he would have let him know he was closing early at that time. I would not recommend this place.

So glad I did because he fixed my car the next day and the cost was about half of what I paid last time to get a wheel bearing replaced (the kind of car I like eats wheel bearings for breakfast). Car rides great now and I'm taking it back to do some other things that need to be done. So, in a nutshell, great service, quick and very reasonable cost - highly recommend. I want to get something straight, Ali and I are not related, and this was my first time at his shop under his NEW management. My mechanic at another shop is normally too busy for me to get in when I need him... most times a wait for a day that works for us both. Usually, my vehicle issues can be postponed because we are a two-car family. My mechanic is extremely honest and good at his trade. I noticed Ali was offering a $19.99 conventional oil change up to 5 quarts. I asked how much he would accept if I brought him the oil and filter (full synthetic). Bam, I returned and took him up on that $15.00. During oil change I pointed out that out my four tires outer edges had A LOT more wear compared to the whole tread on each. We discussed the solution(s). He quoted me with labor and parts plus ONLY labor if I brought him the parts. I couldn't believe my eyes the labor cost... at that moment I informed him I couldn't in good conscious pay the amount so at the time to pay up I handed him an extra 15% (not tip but for not charging me a lot for labor). I supplied all the parts. More on Ali. He has an amazing demeanor which is reflected in his smile. He is a great communicator. I believe he is extremely honest. I chose Gil's to paint a couple replacement trim pieces for an older car of mine, and I'm having a…read morehard time articulating just how disappointed I am with every aspect of the experience. Kevin - or whatever his name is - was dismissive and brusque, which I hoped was the hallmark of a guy so good at what he does that courtesy had become an afterthought. Well, I was wrong. Although he quoted me "a week or two," it ended up taking the better part of a month. Every time I called, I got some runaround about how "we don't bother Kevin in the booth" like he was some kind of savant. Apparently he couldn't match the paint without the intervention of their "paint rep," which begs the question how they get anything painted at all. When I did finally get the call, I was irritated to find that he had also painted the piece of trim I'd supplied as a reference, which sort of defeats the purpose, doesn't it? On top of that, there are runs, sags, and s**t in the paint...like, did you spray this on the ground outside with one hand over your eyes? I guess I shouldn't be surprised at the results when I recall seeing a gallon jug of cheap vodka on the floor behind the counter when I picked up the parts. There's a bit from Calvin and Hobbes where he's supposed to be shoveling snow or something, and is deliberately making a hash of it. He explains to Hobbes that "I find if you do a job poorly enough the first time, you often don't get asked to do it again." So, I didn't ask again. I am sorry to have trusted that jerk with parts of a car that's very special to me, and I intend to find a friendlier, more competent shop to fix his lousy work.

However, at Skinny's I felt very comfortable expressing my concerns with my car and even though my original thought of the issue was wrong (serpentine belt replacement), they were able to correctly diagnose the problem (worn front brake pads) and then fix the problem in a timely manner. They were also able to give me a status update on other parts of my car that require attention in the future. I would definitely come back and recommend this place to friends!
