They have all of the classic brunch options, their service is generally prompt, the seating options are satiable, and the prices are great. Service is great. The food is excellent. I had an Italian Omelet for Saturday brunch and the Italian beef in it is the quality you want in a place like Chicago. They serve it with a side of marinara which complements the mozzarella and Italian beef combo well. Overall, it's a nice little spot that doesn't take reservations and doesn't need them. read more

Been in move back mode to my home Chicago it was too hot to cook and I had read excellent reviews on 3rd Coast I decided to stop there wearing no makeup or bringing my glasses to read the menu. I ordered the diablo cheese steak which made me think I chose poorly all my life for Not pairing with mozzarella The sandwich was huge while I ordered the pizza as a back up should the cheese steak not be good. Now I am very picky about pizza as everyone in Chicago is it was so wonderful I brought home every leftover I appreciate that their staff was fast, friendly and had very reasonable prices even during dinner so I am looking forward to stopping back soon to my new go to place in my new neighborhood! read more

My grandma has lived and worked in the Gold Coast for many years and this is my first time here. My sister and I picked up breakfast this morning, the omelette was just okay but the service was exceptional. Gabriel gave us water while we waited and chatted with us. I have been coming to this place to eat for years, just loved it, took many friends there, told many people about how charming it was and still is, yet today I was so frustrated by the lack of common courtesy by the waitstaff I finally walked out with out even tasting anything, this is a first for me as I think it was best to just go and leave. My order was so messed up and the man who served me the food when I asked about what was missing, he just waved his hands in the air and walked away to find the waitress who glasses were hanging from her top showing her boobs and cleavage just looked so unprofessional on top of a messed up order.........the place wasn't even crowded as I timed it right for an early dinner......yep, dinner got lost in the shuffle and I was hungry. This is such a low key and comfortable place, with great drink selections and plenty of variety on the menu. I had an indecisive moment here that I was surprised by. It's also clearly a neighborhood favorite...we went on a Friday for a random late lunch and got the last table. The hash browns were just what we've been missing--for my fellow southern transplants, think Waffle House but roughly a million times more crispy--you can feel the love in these for sure. We started with the Chèvre and then I had the Italian Beef and Husb had the Pulled Pork hash. Not one crumb was left. The menu is comprehensive and every bite is delicious. For breakfast, everything our party are was perfect. Smoked polish sausage, fresh baked bread, melt in your mouth pancakes, an omelet packed with goodness and an extraordinary breakfast sandwich rounded out our sampling. Stumbled upon this spot one Sunday while my husband and I spontaneously decided to get brunch and it's our new go to! The staff is incredible! Super friendly and always checking on you to see if you need anything, but not too often that they feel overbearing. The food is UNREAL! I order something different every time and it's all delicious. My favorites have been their eggs and French toast and my husband is obsessed with their eggs benedict that has a pesto hollandais sauce. Their portions are quite large though, so if you're not super hungry, recommend splitting. Same rule with their scones - super yummy but large...my husband and I now split one when we go. On top of that, this place has the BEST HOMEMADE ARNOLD PALMER OF ALL TIME. I had two, could've had six if my bladder was larger. The Cajun Chicken Penne is to die for and the caesar salad rocks my world. Other fantastic items-- BLT, all the burgers, fajitas. But everything is delicious. This is a great place to come with your friends, family, or even just alone for a meal at any time of the day. Sometimes I even pop in late at night for a scone and they throw in some whipped cream. Nice place! See my thoughts below: Wait Time - None! Went in for Sunday brunch and though the place was full, we were able to seat a group of 4 right away. Setting - Pretty nice! A lot of tables in a small space make it pretty loud in here, but we were able to converse easily. Food - Delicious would be an understatement. I got a farmers omelet and wow was it great. I thoroughly enjoyed it, and I can't wait to try the rest of the menu. Price - Reasonable, nothing too crazy. For a Sunday Brunch in Chicago, it was far from expensive. Service - Bad. I won't even sugar coat it, just bad. Our waitress never brought out a side that we had ordered, and neglected to check in on our table. The next time she came around was to drop off our check, and that was a fiasco. We had 4 people who wanted to split the check by our respective dishes, and she refused to split the check, instead saying to just write down who got what and give her a stack of cards. We also brought up the fact that the side dish needed to be taken off since it was never brought out, and we were then met with a snarky attitude about how it's our fault and we should have just asked for her to bring it out. If you have read any of my other reviews you'd know I'm a stickler for service, and this place did not meet expectations. It really pains me to not give this place 5 stars, but I just can't based on the service. I'll try this again and hope for a better experience. read more

What I liked about this place was the menu had many options that had something for everyone. I also appreciated that they had several vegetarian options on the table. Likewise, I think it is very reasonably priced for dinner options. I opted for the Caesar salad, cilantro bean soup, and Caprese sandwich. Yum! 3rd Coast Cafe is a GEM! I'd been living in the Gold Coast/Old Town area for a couple of months when I stumbled upon this place in search of a quick, delicious dinner. The speciality cheese board is seriously the best cheese board I've ever had -- no fluff, all delicious things! I also had the diablo tacos and thought the spice level was perfect! On top of that, the staff is incredibly kind and informed on all parts of the menu. I was also impressed by the installments of local artists' work displayed on the walls. We had a good experience there. The server was friendly and quite good. We enjoyed speaking with her. We had no wait time to be seated by the host. My wife had an almond crossiant and she thought it was very good. I had a breakfast sandwich, which was also good. I ordered a banana, and there was a mixup, and it did not arrive with the rest of our food. I had to ask where my banana was. The restaurant interior needed to be updated because there was evidence of wear and tear on the furniture. read more

The hostess needs to take a training on the etiquette of greeting guests. 1.) You can learn to smile and say hello 2.) You do not yell from across the bar "how many?" 3.) body language says a lot.
