This unassuming cafe located in the back of a high end clothing and gift space is beyond what you would expect. Serving breakfast and lunch, the Lunchroom in Space 519 is such a treat. We visited on a Tuesday morning around 10:00am and were seated right away. The menu focuses on farm to table California style cuisine and it certainly delivered. I usually go for savory breakfasts but love a sweet treat mixed in here and there. We started with their apple coffee cake which was crumbly and gooey at the same time, with perfectly cooked apple chunks, a delicate, crumbled topping and a perfectly oil-glazed exterior. We each ordered their daily quiche, one vegetable based and one meat based. Truly my only complaint was this was more of a frittata than quiche given there was no flakey, buttery crust to support the eggs, however, the dish was still delicious. My red pepper and white cheese slice was hot, rich and bouncy with impeccable flavor and texture. The meat quiche was well received by my dining partner as well. And how can I forget the side salad? Probably amongst the most impressive I've tasted...shaved brussel sprouts, kale and cabbage make up the simple base with a caper vinaigrette that provides a umami hit to balance out the soft, rich egg bake. On top of it all, the woman who managed the cafe popped by our table a few times to ensure we were enjoying our meal. I want to start off by saying that the Black and White Cupcake from the bakery section here is phenomenal- one of the best cupcakes I've ever had. The gluten-free sprinkle cupcake looks amazing too, but beware that it's very dry and lacks flavor. I also tried the cinnamon roll which was very good, and for my dish I ordered the Farm Table Burrata. In terms of the restaurant itself, there's very limited seating. Tables are close together, it can get very loud during lunch, and you are basically looking into the kitchen while also inside of an expensive store... it's odd but eclectic. The manager woman is extremely friendly and you can tell that she cares a lot about the customers and their feedback. Top notch service at this Gold Coast spot. The tomato basil soup was great and I don't even like tomato soup! Has the taste of a light, tasty marinara. Bbq chicken flatbread also had very good flavor. The bread is on the thick side and it needed a bit more bbq sauce, but that was quickly provided when requested. This place is super chic inside and a great one-stop shop to browse the store, grab a coffee or bite, or sit down for a meal. The patio is lovely especially on a sunny day. After we were seated outside, I noticed that the staff were spending more time at other tables explaining the menu and such but kind of being standoffish towards us. They also didn't offer water or anything for my tired, thirsty puppy, which is a first. It got the job done though.. I forgot about the weird vibes for a while when the food arrived though. I recently stumbled upon a hidden gem that combines my favorite things - a cute cafe in an apothecary store. It was a bit on the expensive side as the cost was $20.95. But what truly sets this place apart is the apothecary element. The store boasts a wide range of herbs, teas, candles, skincare, stationary, and wellness products. Might add some therapeutic dimension to your visit. My review is of the young lady in the hostess position, not the food. The food is solid and you're in for a treat if you try it. During today's visit, a pickup order, I asked the "hostess" if she could help me purchase some additional items from the display case on the lower level. She replies "sure, follow me". I follow directly behind. When she gets to her station, she begins taking orders from people who clearly arrived after me as I am standing directly in front of her. To avoid making a scene, I walked away for a moment thinking she would eventually come back to me. After waiting another ten minutes, she walks past me as if we never interacted. I left without the additional items I had intended to purchase. I understand that good help is hard to find but the experience would have been considerably more pleasant if no one was at the hostess station rather than the young lady working there at noon on Sunday 12/7/25. We made a lunch reservation for restaurant week. Upon being seated we were greeted by a waiter that was clearly so uncomfortable interacting with people. I must admit I was relieved when a different, more confident & clear speaking, person came to the table. This person informed us that all 3 of us dining had to order from the restaurant week menu or none of us could order off that menu. When we quietly & politely objected they said that all restaurant week places do that. We disagree and have been to numerous restaurants during RW that allow fewer than the entire party to order off the RW menu. My 94 year old mother asked if she should go sit at her own table because she wanted to order off the regular menu while my husband and I wanted the RW selections. This person then reluctantly allowed our request. My mother noticed that this person as well as other staff were unsmiling, scowling, and in general unfriendly. I have to agree with another reviewer, the times I sat inside, I felt cramped and conversation volumes can get pretty loud. Another thing I noticed, and this was even before the Pandemic is that the staff although very polite, always seem frazzled, like maybe always there has not been enough staff or too many calling in to say they can't work? My server today seemed very frazzled and probably had too many guests to take care of. He was polite and I gave him a good tip. I know some may consider this place to be on the pricey side. But their eggs and grits southwest style are to die for. They typically have it with bacon, but I substitute avocado instead. The bed of grits are phenomenal, the runny yolk with sauce is exquisite, and the toasted bread with butter and jam is the perfect combination. It's one of those meals you want to last forever. I also love the cappuccino, one of the best in town IMHO. The owner is also quite kind and the newly hired staff are quite amazing!
