Every time I come in, she talks about how fresh her food is and how everything is made to order. She does everything on her own, so the food takes time to cook. Do not come when you're in a rush! We like to get the stir fry noodles and banh mi. We've had the pho and it's OK, but I like my mom's better. Got takeout so can't comment on restaurant itself! I got the grilled pork banh mi, and my Viet-Chinese friend said it's the best banh mi he's ever had in America! The banh mi comes with a superrr generous portion of grilled pork, some pate, pickled veggies, cilantro, and a fried egg, which is not super common! I didn't love the pate (just not a fan of liver), but the pork was yum! Also tried the Vietnamese spring rolls, which comes in a box of three with a less concentrated peanut dipping sauce. These were great with a generous portion of shrimp! Good deal! I tried a bit of the grilled beef vermicelli bowl, and that was pretty standard and classic. Best Vietnamese food in the area, located near 47th and Ashland. The owner works solo making great Pho and dishes from her heart. My husband and I thought we would see how the food compared to other Vietnamese restaurants we have tried. Don't waste your time! The banh mi sandwich was not authentic. They did not include any pate and the pickled veggies were minimal. The pan fried noodles with chicken, shrimp, and beef were alright. My husband ordered Asian honey wings and received 2 whole wings for $8. The order said 6 pieces so I guess the wing tips counted as 2 pieces. Wow! The good items were the spring rolls and egg rolls. I order egg rolls, Pho, and a grilled beef sandwich for delivery. The egg rolls were still crunchy by the time it got to me, the meat texture was kinda like mush, but still tasted good. For the pho, the amount of noodles and meat was great for the price. However, I found it was too bland for my taste. I tried to doctor it up best I could and it was just okay. For the sandwich, grilled beef did not seemed like it was grilled to me... the grilled beef looked and tasted like the pho meat I got. Would have preferred that charred flavor.
