    Saigon Special Banh Mi Sandwich

Cute small dining area, very pleasant staff, quick and friendly service. The food was fresh and portions were good. I'd say flavor wise it was just okay if you're looking for semi authentic Vietnamese food. We considered the flavors more muted and catering to Midwest palates. We probably won't be back as we're on the hunt for very authentic bold Vietnamese flavors, but if you'd like an entry point for this cuisine, this is a good spot. Prices were reasonable and metered street parking out front.

We have gone to this spot twice. There isn't much seating but the food comes fast and it's been tasty both times. The bread wasn't as crispy the 2nd time but we're fans! Get the papaya salad if you get a sandwich. It's a great side. We've enjoy the soup/pho too.

Got takeout twice for lunch! Love the options, ingredients are fresh and service is super fast. They delivered quickly. We called to ask for the jalapeños taken out of some of the banh mi but they were already made! They still kindly took the jalapeños out for us. I got the rice noodle salad. It was a much larger portion than I was expecting and came with both a vinegrette dressing and a peanut sauce. Their spring rolls are also really worth it. And we also split a large wonton soup. The only issue I had was the Vietnamese coffee. It tasted bitter/burnt and didn't have much coffee flavor or aroma; probably won't order that again.

I most definitely recommend this place! I've never had a Banh Mi sandwich before trying this place and now it might just be one of my top sandwiches I've ever had. Mixed in with the Pho, that is a combo that is unbeatable. I've now had a few different things on the menu and they have all been top tier! It's always nice being able to go to a local spot that you know no matter what you try... it's going to be fire. This time I went with my brother and we shared 1 Banh Mi Sandwich and 1 Brisket Pho. Splitting it was genius, I just wish I dipped the sandwich inside the Pho more often. If you've never been to this location, it is worth driving out of the way for! The service is good too, feels like a local family vibe. Thank you Banh Mi City, looking forward to stopping by soon. Personal Review: 9.2/10

Who would have thought that in the heart of Pilsen, that you could get a banh mi sandwich. If you're in the area and craving a banh mi sandwich, this place hits. I ordered a classic banh mi to go. The sandwich was decent. Had good amount of meat and vegetables. The bread didn't taste super fresh, and I wish it was a bit more crunchy. the service was great. We had a big order and they fulfilled it quickly with short notice. If I'm ever craving banh mi, this will be my go to spot. Will be back to try other menu items!

Great affordable Vietnamese Pho and sandwiches' in Pilsen, who would have guessed a hidden gem. Stopped in to give them a try and the food is decent. I got the beef brisket Pho which as you can see in the picture, there is a lot of meat in the soup. You can pay with card or cash no discount with cash. Easy process - Order and find a seat. The food came very quick. Highly recommend if you are tired of eating taco's - Pho is good for you.

Hello Yelpers, Well yesterday the Mrs & I stop in after a nice bike ride. The place is very clean, nice casual seating & The staff is very friendly. My wife and I both ordered The chicken Pho & we shared an order of shrimp spring rolls. The Shrimp Spring rolls very very fresh! Delicious!! Although they didn't have any cucumber in them. Maybe theirs doesn't come with cucumber. They come with a peanut dipping sauce, which I liked but my wife didn't like. A solid 8.5/10 The Chicken Pho comes in a huge serving! Once again VERY FRESH! this was our first time having Pho so we didn't know what to expect. I was expecting the broth to have more depth to it. But it was still very flavorful. The chicken was shredded and so tender. The noodles were cooked perfectly! Great experience for the first time. Solid 9/10! We will definitely return! The service was inviting also! Prices are competitively reasonable. I'm give them a cool 8.7/10. (Remember all reviews are subjective)

Service was great (5/5) but I do not believe that this place is authentic (so they get 2 stars). There were several factors that lead me to this conclusion. 1). My Phô was served in a ramen bowl. 2). My Phô came out dressed already. I've been to a few Phô restaurants and NEVER did the Basil, Lime, Onion, and Jalapeños come in the dish already. 3). It lacked flavor. I'm someone that usually drinks all of my broth, but this broth was very mid, so I didn't take it with me. Overall I will not return because I want an authentic dish, but the service is amazing 5/5.

Crispy chicken wings with caramelized fish sauce sounded adventurous but tasted familiar. These were definitely good but they're not mind blowing so I would probably skip them to try other things if you're on the fence. Oysters were so delicious but I hardly ever think they're not. Wagyu with lemongrass and a chili sea salt was simple but tasty. The grilled eggplant was yummy, paired with pickled shallots, fried garlic, and scallions. Definitely a good one for eggplant lovers like me. The veggie curry was good but probably the least favored of everything we had and couldn't finish it. But we made room for a little dessert! We went with the whipped rice pudding but had it without peanuts because I'm allergic. We didn't really enjoy it much. It was kind of bland and I'm guessing it might be because we omitted the nuts. It was sad to finish on a weak note.

It was very mid. Pretty mild flavor and the noodles were overcooked, and because they're on the thicker side it made it worse. I loved the fresh greens, almonds, and the sesame cracker, but the noodles itself would be a hard pass. Very mellow compared to other viet dishes I've tried. The service was great though and i'd come back to try their appetizers as that is what lured me to this place. But if you like intense flavors this dish would not be it.

Soon enough I was white-knuckling the table to keep my cool as the medley proved to be somewhere between erotic and nostalgic. One could rescue a newborn from a burning building and it would pail in comparison to the respect our waitress lavished onto us. Reason being, this lovely lady spent the entire night responding with "yes chef" to any of our interactions. In all fairness, it's understandable to assume our party of mustached men were chefs. Heck, one of us got a diet cola, isn't that a tell too? I say all this to make known the cult status that woman will have in my heart till I breathe my last breath. 5 stars based on Bahn mi, cha gio and iced coffee I ordered today…read more I must have been part of an early crowd. When I arrived, there was only one other table dining, which made it GREAT for me. It's a decent size hall with 10+ table arrangements, making it pretty great for a group to enjoy their lunch. It also featured a couple of kiosks for ordering, which I thought was a bit easy to miss, since it was tucked away in the left corner when you walked in. It looked like there was also a cashier available to take orders, if you miss the kiosks. I've seen places where they simply do not have anyone at the register to take orders, but that wasn't the case for Lotus. Before deciding to visit them today, I had an impression that their menu choices were very limited compared to other Vietnamese restaurants I was used to. I'm certainly not complaining, since I'm usually a huge fan of select "specialty" approach in restaurants. That's why I decided to order one of their Bahn mi, where I normally would have chosen pho for my first visit. And it didn't disappoint. First off, the size of the sandwich was good. I've had it where they charged a buck or two less, but they weren't big enough to be a full "lunch" portion. Lotus' size, I thought was decent. I had ordered one of their cha gios just in case the sandwich failed to fill me, but I think I would have been okay without it. Cha gio was super good tho! Oh, and the iced V-coffee was good, too. Typically, they'll bring out the coffee before your meal is ready, probably because they're ready-made in the morning and all you'd need to do is pour them over ice. I of course, have known legitimate mom n' pop places, where they'll actually bring out coffee as it's brewing in Phin (stainless steel coffee filter) and a glass of ice with condensed milk, so you can wait for the coffee to finish brewing and pour yourself one, which is what I *always* prefer. Not here, but no big deal. You can usually tell how good the food is going to be by trying their iced coffee. Even though V-coffee isn't known for using "incredible" beans, the balance of the strength of coffee and condensed milk *does* make a big difference in your experience. I felt this place had it correct! I'll definitely come back myself and even bring coworkers or my family to have their Bahn mi again. What I'm not sure about is whether I want to try their pho or bun. First, they don't offer too many variations, so I'm stuck choosing from just a few. (For example, I usually go for "brisket-only" or a combo of brisket and rare steak, but they didn't seem to have those options. Granted, it's possible they'll make it happen if I asked) Secondly, I think they're a couple bucks more expensive than what I would like to pay for a bowl of pho. We'll see.

I didn't try the hot pot, but the group one table over had it. Speaking of the other group, so many varied entrees came out of the kitchen - it was cool to see more than just phở. The waitstaff is quick... almost to the point of impatient! But never problematic. Be aware that dishes fly out of the kitchen as they are ready. One bowl might come out way before the others. An appetizer might come out last. It just whatever is ready (it appears). Also, their takeout game is strong, judging by the amount of trays ready to go and people coming in to carry-out.
