Only been here once so far and got the Hebron sandwich. It was great. It is basically a sampler sandwich of all the meats except ribs. The bbq was just the way I like my bbq, not to smokey. I know alot of people that think the smokier the better, but I prefer to taste the meat and not just smoke flavor. Don't know anywhere else where u can get this amount of meat on a sandwich for only $10.00. Will be a new Friday regular place for me. read more

Swung by here today with my father-in-law to order 3 bbq sandwiches to go. Chopped brisket was tender and tasty with excellent smokey flavor -- I used a dab of their homemade sauce (which is also quite good), but it really wasn't necessary given that the meat was so flavorful. Came here during lunch on a Friday and was pretty excited based on the reviews. My coworkers and I got everything to go. Prices are very good for the amount of food you get....but....the bbq itself is nothing to really write home about. I got the sliced brisket sandwich. Normally, I ask for moist brisket since fat=flavor. My sandwich was meh. The meat wasn't what I would call "moist" or very flavorful. The bark was practically non-existent and was barely what many would call "smokey." A coworker of mine let me taste her sausage sandwich. Sausage was much better than the brisket and was very flavorful. A different coworker ordered the two meat platter with brisket and sausage. She received brisket and ribs instead. After one bite of the ribs, she gave them away. "Yuck" was what she said. Rolling my eyes, I took one of the ribs, which were fall off the bone tender, and gave it a bite. I wouldn't say "yuck," but I would say "meh." Ribs were, unbelievably, just as bland as the brisket. Very underseasoned, no bark, no flavor. I really hate writing these types of reviews. Maybe I just caught them on a bad day? Either way, I'm hesitant to try them again, but for the amount of food you get for the price, they get two stars. read more

My only complaint would be the obvious one. They are only open on the weekends. I had the brisket and the ribs. Both was about as good as I have had around Dallas. It's pretty much only a to-go place. They have a few picnic tables, but that's about it. There's not a whole lot of sides or a large drink selection. This is literally a little shack. But that's not a knock, it's just a "heads up". My 5 star rating is purely on the taste of the BBQ. The service was friendly and the prices were appropriate, but I go for the quality of the meal. read more

Excellent BBQ, great prices, friendly service, never crowded, appears to be takeout only. They have a few picnic tables but no plates or silverware were offered, so I'm assuming it's takeout, but I'm cool with that. I'm no BBQ expert but have suffered through plenty of dried out brisket jerky in my time. This place knows what they're doing, all meats are excellent, nothing overdone, great smoke flavor. Did I mention the prices are reasonable? So far I've had the brisket, sausage, hot links, and pulled pork (by the pound, not sandwich). Such a great find in the backyard. Only drawback is they are open only on Fri and Sat, and limited hours - I think 11 - 5 30 or something, so gotta get there in that window. Try to convince them to open more days during the week, the only way they'll do it is if they see the overwhelming demand for it. Great little BBQ find super close to home. Gordy, the owner, recognized that it was my first time to visit and gave me a jar of his homemade salsa to try. I tried a smoked sausage sandwich and a smoked turkey sandwich as they were out of pulled pork ("A lady cleaned us out this morning" I was told). Both were very good and the homemade sauce was spicy but not overly so. Prices are fair at $6 per sandwich which includes a bag of chips. Portion size was also good. Besides sandwiches you can buy their meats by the pound. Good food, people, and close to home. I'll be back. read more

This is the best little bbq stop in the area! The potato salad is to die for and the turkey is the best I've tasted - tender and delicious. My favorite is the sliced/chopped beef - absolutely 1 of a kind flavor. I am so glad we found this place and it's very close...now we don't have to drive across town anymore we want outstanding bbq. So I gave it a try, as it's been hard to find really good non-chain bbq in north Dallas or Carrolton. I like my ribs fall off the bone moist and tender, these were "chew it off the bone" tough. Brisket, kind of dry flavorless - no smoke, not a lot of char. I give it a 4 on a scale of 10 but wouldn't go back. Wife said even Dickies was better, and that's not good. read more

Great stuff, very fresh. Choose normal sausage over hot links. Canned sodas only drinks available... Tea would be nice and so would a bigger helping of pickles and onions. Beans and potato salad were A+. read more

After ALL the great reviews, I was excited to try 401k - and while the staff was friendly and the portions were fairly generous the bbq was (sadly) mediocre. Similar to what you might find at Dickeys, but nowhere near what you might get at such awesome spots as LA BBQ, Black's, or even saltlick (all Austin area). read more

My favorite BBQ in town. Gordy is a great guy as well. He even gave me free salsa. I highly recommend this sit-down spot.

On my quest for good or great bbq lead me to this place. I read the reviews and off I went. I drove up and no smokey smell in the air. It is an unassuming little building. I walk up and catch a faint whiff of smoking meat. The lady who took my order was nice. I ordered the pork butt and chips. I got my order and drove off. Sniff sniff no lingering smokey meat smell. I got to my destination which was only five minutes away and here is what I discovered. A smokey smell on the sandwich. It did not contain the huge blobs of fat that some places add. Thank goodness. I like my bun toasted so the bread does not get squishy but it is not which is not a huge deal. Since I got there kinda early I expected the food to be hot or atleast warm. It wasn't either but it wasn't stone cold. It was dare I say dry. I tried several pieces and still dry. I did catch a hint of smokey flavor. I tried the sauce and yeah it was a no go also. Thin kinda Carolina style which isn't my taste. I thought it was me so I had a friend try and he was like dry to him. Maybe it was what I selected but while charming in its kitschy style this was not it for me. If I am ever over again I might stop by and try something else. You must try twice to be sure it wasn't an off day. My search continues for great BBQ in DFW. read more

We decided to try this place out since its local, the service and prices were good but the BBQ was horrible. We tried the brisket, ribs and sausage. The brisket and ribs were very dry, the sausage had cheese in it and was over cooked and luke warm at best. We were very disappointed and will not go back. read more
