What I like most about this place is the speed at which the pizza is served to you. They cut slices of pizzas that are already pre-made and pop them in the oven to heat up. It's in the oven for not even a minute, but comes out nice and toasty. The Sicilian style pizza is really good here too. Having never had an actual New York pizza in my life, I'm probably not the best judge of New York style pizzas. They being said, for what it's worth, I once came here with a New Yorker who loves pizza. He said the pizza here is authentic and delicious.

I've heard so much about Lamonica's over the years--especially from a Brooklyn-native client who…read moreinsisted it was the closest thing to an authentic NY slice--so my friend and I recently headed over to Westwood to see if it lived up to the hype. Unfortunately, our experience was quite a letdown. When we arrived, we considered ordering a full pie, but we were stunned to learn a large meat lovers would cost $54. They charge $5 per topping, which seems excessive even for an 18" pizza; we actually laughed at the register because the price was so absurd. We ended up sticking to the lunch deal, which is reasonably priced at $9 for two slices and two toppings, and the refillable drink option is definitely a steal. However, the quality didn't justify even that lower price. The slices were heavily oiled--we needed a stack of napkins just to dab off the grease--and they tasted like they had been sitting out for a long time. On the plus side, I did enjoy the atmosphere. The NYC-themed decor, including the subway memorabilia and the celebrity mural, offers a fun, nostalgic vibe, though my friend found the interior to be a bit dingy and dated. Ultimately, while I respect that Lamonica's has been a fixture in the Village since 1980, the lackluster food makes it hard to recommend when there are much better pizza options nearby. I was hoping for a slice of New York, but I'll be looking elsewhere for my next pizza fix.

The restaurant was on my "to try list". The reservations were fairly simple and once we showed up,…read morewe were seated right away. The restaurant offers plenty of seating space inside as well as outside. Our server was really attentive and suggested items from the menu that are popular as well as some of the entrees that are loved by staff. Calamari Fritti was a different spin on a traditional calamari. It was fried with a batter that was a little sweet. The lemon wedge helped cut the sweetness. The two sauces provided a nice touch. Seared scallops were delicious and cooked perfectly. The bed of sweet corn risotto accompanied the protein well. The crispy shallots were a miss, for me. They were bitter. Roasted salmon entree was good. The fish was cooked well and the pesto pasta was good. Overall, the restaurant was a good choice for a delicious meal. The service is great and ambiance completes the dinner.

The place was so charming, but I always find TVs to be an aesthetic buzzkill. It felt out of place compared to the rest of it; but that's someone's cup of tea! (Esp during World Cup). There were 3 other people sitting at the bar, rather chill. Took some time to get the bartenders attention-- she'd be chatting with coworkers, looking right past my direction, then proceeding to chat. The gentleman next to me was attempting to get his check for 5 mins before he got her attention lol.. it just gave such a cold vibe to the start of the experience. I asked what the quickest thing on the menu would be, concluded to getting some bread (ya girl was ready to eat an elephant) to make things quick and 15 mins later proceeded to cancel it. I work in this industry, so it's hard when I see someone take note of something, then proceed to not give a hell about it and chit chat. No pit stop to the kitchen, no "hey, can we check on this?". It was cancelled, then the dish came out anyway. The runner was sweet and just gave it to me anyhow, however at that point it was 5 mins from the rezy and the moments passed for a gal to have a peaceful grub. She dropped the check without a word and grabbed the check without a word and that wassss on THAT. Food was great, dinner went awesome-- our server was kind and attentive. Got the shrimp squid ink pasta, was nice to see pescatarian options-- tho not many vegetarian. Paid parking across the street was $3. Not a bad deal! Thanks for having us yall.

I have to make a shoutout to Jessica, the bartender, because she truly made the experience feel warm& lovely, I had no idea what to order, and her recommendations ended up becoming my new favorite dish. She was incredibly friendly, attentive, and just had this amazing vibe and aura that made me want to stay longer. I actually stayed for an extra glass of wine just because of how great the energy was, and I'm already debating coming back for dinner depending on my schedule. Such a lovely spot for a relaxed, beautiful lunch by the beach, I highly recommend!

I discovered this former gem earlier this year and became a bit obsessed with their thick-crust…read morepizza. At first, the crust was always extraordinary: crisp, flaky, buttery, beautifully balanced, and somehow substantial without being heavy or 'too doughy'. The tomato sauce was also fantastic, with just the right little bit of tang. I ordered three or four pizzas over the next few months, and every single one was perfect. I was in pizza heaven. Then, weirdly, something changed around April 2026. The next pizza I ordered tasted completely off. The sauce no longer had that bright tang and was way oversalted ...and I am not afraid of salt. The "thick" crust was much thinner, almost half the height of the earlier pies. Instead of that crisp, flaky, buttery texture, it tasted stale and the texture was "Hardcore chewy cardboard" with a faint hint of crunch, like day-old pizza. The dough had lost all of its flavor and balance. There was no yeasty depth, no richness, no magic at all. I was surprised, but gave them the benefit of the doubt. Maybe it was just an off day. A few weeks later, I ordered again. Same issue. After waiting a few months, I gave them one final try tonight. Unfortunately, I got the same result again. Whatever used to make this pizza extraordinary seems to be gone. The enshittification of everything continues.
