Waitress was quick to our table for a drink order. Canned beer. The wife got sweet tea, our friend a canned beer. Asked about crab pices. $65 a dozen for mediums and $85 a dozen for large. The owners may be from MD, but they brought Md prices with them. I often get crabs down here, same beautiful blue crabs, and I have never paid over $125 a bushel/25 a dozen. That's for large. Ya, I have to steam them myself, but that's ok, as I can add corn on the cob at the end if there is room in the steamer. That's $40 less per dozen. Pretty substantial amount for a few people to sit and enjoy steamed crabs. My friend got a dozen medium crabs, the wife ordered fried shrimp, and I got the fried flounder. I had a crab off the friends order, pretty good..A little light, but ok. The wife liked her shrimp, the flounder was a small piece and really nothing to rave about. Nothing like the picture on the menu. The Cole slaw was very creamy and out of a container that was bought that way. The wife and I sat and enjoyed the break as we waited for our friend to finish his crabs. I had a couple beers, and just relaxed. The came the bill. I didn't ask, but should have. I was charged 18% Of my total sales for crab table service. Now the wife doesn't eat them, I had one, but didn't order any. But I get a service charge? I hope that went to the waitress, because that was my tip for the evening. I usually tip more, but if you tack on 18%, then so be it. I was complaining that my crab guy has gone up in the past years. We enjoyed the 45th Crab House very much. We did not have any trouble being seated or served even though there was only one employee serving both the bar and the dining room (despite one of the owners doing puzzles at a table). The server was polite, helpful, and attentive. The crabs, although smalls, were tasty and well prepared. We also enjoyed the basket of fries we had. Although we are MB locals now we have also lived in Baltimore and these crabs definitely live up to the MD standard. read more

Even after my neighbor that I told her about the place had a horrible experience where she spent over $300 and more than 30% of the crabs were bad. They never offered to do anything for her or replace the crabs that she had. She said she was never will going back and I felt bad that I even said I went there and now yesterday when I went there, even though I haven't always had the best experience experiences I always had the right price and this time Because of biker week they jacked up the prices. The owner wasn't there and they wanted $55 for 12 females and when I told the waitress that that's crazy she said OK 45 and because I really wanted to know the actual price cause I think 45 for 12 was still to much for females than I ever paid before on a Tuesday. (Bike week is over and the girls said it was jacked up for the weekend ) She was trying to say that it was cheaper after 2 o'clock. I never heard that said before on a Tuesday it's mostly from the time they open if they have whatever deal And it used to be two dollars Tuesday, then it was three dollars each but $45 for 12 crabs that are small. I don't even think they were legal size. All full of eggs should've been thrown back for the population of crab. Just sad that the waitress ended up crying over me wanting to know the actual price and why she couldn't call the owner, which didn't answer the phone she said when she called. Then I see online later on that. It was much less posted in the late afternoon and people actually commented why did they wait so long to post the price in the day if you go to page on facebook u will see and read it. This was my favorite poboy! I've had them in Nola and a few others in Myrtle beach, back in the Midwest, but this one had the best tasty shrimp with no fishy taste on fresh bread. From the order being wrong (ordered 2 dozen #1s only received 12 crabs that didn't even measure correct), to waiting extra time for the call in order and then getting home to enjoy the crabs but, 4-5 of 12 were completely inedible. some were over steamed and mushy inside, almost ALL were grey in color and a few were so foul smelling we had to get rid of them the second they were open. The real kicker was the display of complete unprofessionalism shown by the "manager" Ashley. Upon calling about the order being wrong Ashley was disrespectful, calling out her kitchen staff to get on the phone and explain that they had given the wrong order. When we were transferred back to her, she was nothing but, gross. She even hung up the phone before processing the refund. I can't imagine anyone having a good experience here, as even the 2 tables eating at the restaurant while we waited 30 minutes for our call in order couldn't get drinks, butter/vinegar or any of their own requests. Whelp... It was an Uber Eats order so it may not be reflective of order in experience... On the plus side the Turkey, Roast Beef and Cheeses on our sandwiches were top notch, tasted like Boars Head. Downsides: Order was wrong, missing some ingredients on both and included unrequested cheese on one sandwich. We are from Maryland and are Crab snobs . A friend of ours told us about how good the crabs were here. They were not wrong! They were excellent and up there with some of the best I have ever had in a restaurant. The reason is the owners, Keith and Ashley Bowen are from up here in our area and know how to cook a crab! I usually stay away from crab anything when not in Maryland because most places just don't know how to do it. This is an exception. They were fantastic! I really wanted this place to be good, however, the crabs were undersize some would be considered illegal where I was from. My order was incorrect they shorted me by 1 dozen. The crabs I did received were left in the bottom of the pot and I assumed steamed again to heat up. Only 8 of the 12 crabs were edible. When we called to complain we were met with a rude manager by the name of Ashley who really didn't care about our issue. This is the second time 45th Ave Deli has disappointed me. The first time was when they took a reservation for my family and I on Father's Day only to find the place closed. We had lunch here today and loved it! This location has been several establishments over the years - long ago it was an Arby's, last year it was Mythos Greek restaurant, with multiple others in between. The current owner/manager took over this location from the original Kaminsky's owner about 6 months ago. He has several decades of running delis in NY, and his experience and love of this type of food is evident. Some of the breads they offer are made in house. Most of the meats are Boars Head but the pastrami and corned beef are brought in from NY, so as to be most authentic. We had the Montauk which was awesome. It was elevated by the HOMEMADE Russian dressing and HOMEMADE slaw used. I can almost guarantee most delis do not make their own dressing! I was pleased to see the price of the sandwiches were very fair (honestly have seen similar offerings elsewhere costing several dollars more). The decor is pleasant and with plenty of windows, very light and enjoyable. There are multiple TVs to watch news/games, etc. The staff was very friendly and helpful as we were deciding what to order. There is a drive-thru ONLY for those who call in their orders. I plan to make this my "go to" place for sandwiches and soups when I'm in North Myrtle Beach. read more

I'm always interested in Deli's that have NY as there store name. As a native New Yorker, when I of a Deli I instantly think of Katz Delicatessen and typically compare my sandwiches to that establishment. I ordered a corn beef on rye (toasted) with deli mustard. The appearance of the sandwich was neat and layered well. I love marble bread (rye & pumpernickel mixed). However, I did not order this as my bread. I was expecting just plain rye. No big deal, but if your not a fan of marble bread you may need to ask specifically for plain rye. The flavor was good, my only con was the corned beef was too salty for my taste. I saw Hormel Brand corned beef in the display case, so it may be the brand itself. In addition, I ordered a side of Muffuletta (olive spread) it was amazing, but I was unable to add it to my sandwich because it would have extra salty. My husband ordered the Islander and was very pleased with his order. I tried it and my palate agreed. I would certainly go back and try the pastrami on rye. read more

The ladies had a craving for crabs so a friend recommended 45th Ave Deli.... Puzzling... but I went for it. And we were pleasantly surprised! We called ahead and had them hold three dozen crabs. Being from Maryland, we have been disappointed many times. But they cane through. Ashley and her husband are from Maryland, so the love was in the crabs and traditional Maryland style crab soup. We went through the crabs in good time, as onlookers inquired about them. We had quite a stack on our table and ordered an additional dozen of these beautiful delicious crustaceans. They were steamed perfectly, and seasoned just right! As we sat there enjoying our crabs and soup, I could not help but notice all of our favorites from Maryland. Deli Favorites included crab cake platters, sliced beef sandwiches and steamed shrimp with onions, oh how we love those Maryland traditions. Food was underwhelming as was the service. Tried to order 3 staple items they were out of. We were so excited to go back for great sandwiches following our visit last year. I'd suspect ownership or management has changed since our last visit. The "bartender" (no one was at the bar) was eating her lunch standing up at the bar on the serving side of the counter. The waitress was more interested in conversing with the bartender and eating gummy worms than taking care of customers. We got a basket of fries, asked for ketchup when ordering as condiments were not available at the table, and had to ask again for ketchup. We waited a while for it even though there were only 3 tables occupied there. We were brought one small condiment container for two people to share and were told "just let me know if you need more". After we were done we threw our trash away in the bin that states "please don't throw away baskets" and the waitress said "I would have gotten that". We just assumed we threw it away because of the dirty dishes sitting on top of it and the fact that our empty plates sat there for 10 minutes. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They did have a ton of TVs so if you like to go somewhere due to the number of TVs, eat there.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] My recommendation is to make your tuna sandwich at home straight from the can and slap a piece of tasteless swiss cheese on it for an equal experience. We ordered 2 dozen #1 steamed crabs to be picked up at 4:00 pm. Not only were they not ready - we waited 1/2 hr in the restaurant (even though they said 10 min.). When they said they were ready, we got a bag and asked if it was right order - we were told yes. Got home, only had 1 dozen and at least half of them we measured were only 4.5" and 5" (not #1). We called to talk to them and they did a partial refund but insisted they were all #1 and hung up on us. Bad customer service . Upon eating them, 3 of them were over steamed and mushy, at least 2 of them smelled awful and we couldn't eat. So we had 7 crabs.... Not that good. Will never come back for crabs!!
