I have gone to 4J for my oil changes for a couple of years now and they do good work. At my most recent oil change I also had an engine light that had come on the day before so, I asked if they could run a code check to see what was going on. They were fairly busy so I had to wait a little while but, it was no big deal. Eventually the mechanic came out and asked me a couple of questions. It turned out that the code was for a minor emission and he believed it to be the gas cap no longer sealing. He said he could run some additional tests but, he really felt it was just the gas cap so he wanted to save me the fees of the additional diagnostics. He reset the code, said if it came on again to call and they'd order the cap and replace that to see if it resolved the issue. On top of that, because of my "long wait" and the minor information he found out, he waived the $75 diagnostic fee. It wasn't necessary but, such great customer service and I was so grateful! The light did end up coming on again and I had it replaced today and they only charged me for the parts! As a woman who doesn't know a lot about cars, they could have easily taken advantage of me as other mechanics have done in the past. Or tried to sell me on the more intensive services but, this whole scenario proves to me that they just don't work that way! I'll sing their praises to anyone! Thank you 4J! Within the first two weeks of having plugs changed started getting check engine lights due to misfires. I took my own plugs and told them to gap at .28. While waiting they came back and asked .28? And I responded yes. After the misfires and now that my back was better I pulled all 6 plugs. The gaps ranged from .39-.44, none were within the range I specified. I personally corrected and no issues since. They refuse to refund the ridiculous $200 fee for a service they didn't deliver on. Do not take your car here. They are backyard mechanics!!! I had to call the police on them because they wanted to charge me for "parts and labor" when I only needed a state inspection! Avoid this place at all costs! What was supposed to be a $7 inspection almost became a $250 bill. My wife took the vehicle on Friday and it did not pass inspection because the passenger-side headlights were not working. Apparently, they removed the lightbulb and placed a new one in just to test it, and it "did not work" either. They said we had 14 days to bring it back, and they would run the inspection again at no cost. I tried to fix the headlight this morning and found that there was no lightbulb in it. Maybe they forgot to put it back in or it fell out. I put an old working lightbulb in the headlight and took the vehicle in. Four different people asked to hear my version of what had happened. One of them said, "We will replace the lightbulb. It was our mistake. No worries." Then the manager, Cheyenne, said, "We will replace the lightbulb, and to check the car, we charge $130 an hour, but we can give you a discount." I waited a couple of minutes. Then the cashier, Samuel, called me and said I had to pay for the lightbulb that apparently they put in today. I told them I was never advised I would have to pay for their mistake. He said he was told to charge me, and that's it. I asked to talk to the manager, and he called her. As soon as she answered the phone, she started yelling, saying that I had to pay for the bulb because they replaced it for me. I asked, "If you replaced the old lightbulb, then give me the old lightbulb." She replied, "I'm not going to look in the garbage for your precious lightbulb. If you don't pay, I'm going to call the cops. You are not leaving my premises without paying." Obviously, they did not replace any lightbulbs and wanted me to pay for something I never asked for or authorized. I told her to remove the "new bulb" they put in today, and she said she was not removing it because it was already damaged. It was their mistake not to tighten the lightbulb or put it back in, and I was the one at fault here because I discovered it. I called the police and told the officer what happened. Then the manager said, "I could charge you $250 for the parts and labor because when your wife came a few days ago, we gave her a free bulb, and the hour of labor was not charged either." I called my wife and asked her if it was true (while she was on speakerphone), and she said, "Nobody ever mentioned anything similar to that. I was never told they would charge me to check the vehicle or that they had given or tried to give me a new bulb." When the manager, Cheyenne, heard that, she changed her attitude, and it seems she was not aware of the situation. She was talking to three or four different mechanics who do not seem to have a clue how to work in a team. The lack of communication is amazing in this business. To make a long story short, I left the business. The manager, Cheyenne, did not care to apologize or even acknowledge their mistake. They made me feel like it was my mistake for choosing them and for having an old vehicle. I will never do business with them, and I will warn my family about them. Friendly staff and helpful when it came to my questions on my vehicle. They offer discounts and they also did my state inspection at the same time while I got an oil change. Synthetic oil change is $79.99 with inspection $7. They also changed my carbon filter that they found was really dirty so in all I paid $109 with my discount. If you want your car fixed correctly, dont take it to them. I took my kia optima to have the timing belt and water pump replaced on my car. It took them 6 days to fix and when i picked it up, it started making noises and when i told them about the problems it was having, they didnt care and refused to look at my car. My bill was $105 and they argued with me saying I needed a 'special filter', ever heard of that? Me either. They added unnecessary charges along with that and false advertisement. I've been to this place a few times. And I've always been a bit weary when I went. Took my wife's car in for an inspection and they said the windshield wipers were "dry-rotted" and that I would fail the 7 dollar state regulated inspection if I didn't buy their 35 dollar wiper blades. And I said "I guess I have no choice" only because it was my wife's car. And as I was checking out I told the worker that I thought it was "chicken shit" to charge 35 dollars for windshield wipers instead of 7 for an inspection and he got mad. Then we both started yelling and cussing at each other. He then threw my receipt at me and told me never to come back. I warn anyone that sees this, go anywhere but here. They are white trash.
