Contacted Luxury Wheel Specialists on a Monday. Owner texted and told me get to call "Jarrad" as if I know who Jarrad is. Called and spoke to Jarrad who told me he'd get back with me. He did, and on Tuesday, said he had me scheduled for Wednesday. Was told they do mobile service. Wednesday, I texted Jarrad and asked if he needed my address. No response. No show on Wednesday. Owner contacts me on Monday, asking me if I ever got in touch with Jarrad. I told him the above. A customer shouldn't be expected to jump through this many hoops and own communication between owner and employee. Not giving one star, but given the fact that I put in a reasonable amount of effort, even going so far as to use Yelp's request system with them just to be placed in the middle of comms between owner and employee, followed by a no-show on the day they chose, it stands to reason that they don't have all of their ducks in a row. Jarrod was my tech for the rim repair appt on my son's 2022 Honda Accord. Basically, the rim was scratched during a visit to the car wash; attendant told me to back up w/o realizing my wheel was close to the cement column and all I heard was the loud sound of the rim getting scraped. We are too busy . If u need someone to hold your hand thru this process I'm not the one" (sic). Okay then. Drove 40 min with the wife following to get there at 9 and surprised to find a small trailer with no one there. Very suspect. I called the number on the front of the trailer and no answer. So, I texted and was told to wait, "You aren't the only car we will touch today . U don't have to wait if u don't Want to." Waited 30 min and left as no one showed. Too many red flags. I use to go to AWR here in Austin at least 8 times a year. I have some of the most expensive 3 piece wheels that attract curb rash religiously. AWR is professional and get the job done for my car.... in ONE to TWO weeks! Luxury Wheel Specialist has a much better experience: 1.) They come to you! 2.) I had my rims done in a hour! 3.) They didn't have to take off my tires and ship off my rims like AWR 4.) They also powder coat your wheels, get out dents, interior/exterior touch ups, etc Great staff. Very friendly. In April of '22, after having read the glowing reviews I decided to have a spare set of my Z06 Corvette wheels powder coated by LWS. After having used them I don't understand why the reviews were so good. When I picked the wheels up (they looked great in the boxes) and took them to my tire store it didn't take 3 minutes before the shop foreman grabbed get me and pointed out the problems I was going to have. He pointed out that surface prep had been very poorly done. The most glaring example was that they had powder coated over the double stick tape glue left on the wheel when the balancing weights had been removed. Next he pointed out that he could scratch off the coating with a fingernail. Mainly he was absolving himself ahead of time that the tire mounting equipment was going to shred the powder coating around the rim. So... I took them back and should have known this wasn;t going to work out well when I witnessed one of his techs using `rattle can' paint to touch up a customer's mounted wheel on his car. However, Khris graciously agreed to do it again so I crossed my fingers. When I went out to pick them up again, it was the same story; in fact they even came with shop supplied scratches this time. I didn't take them and brought all this up to Khris over the phone (as he's rarely at the shop). He asked me to pick up the wheels, send my Venmo info and offered a refund because he wasn't going to do them again. I thought that was a fair solution. I sent him Venmo info and three reminders. Then I sent a money request through Venmo and it came back as being denied. I think I've been fair in my assessment, have no bones to pick personally as the shop went out of its way to accommodate my schedule on dropoff, pickup, etc. I'm not a complainer and just now joined Yelp to bring some balance to the positive reviews of LWS. They just didn't deliver a clean durable finish in two tries and after all, that's what they're selling. Then the owner didn;t keep his word on the refund. Very disappointing. Photos are of the wheels after picking up the 2nd time. Note the `shop supplied` circumferential scratch along the inside of the barrel, the recoated(!) balance weight glue and the scratches around the rim where I can pick off the paint with a fingernail. These wheels have not had tires mounted on them. read more
