I've wiped my hands of 4S Plumbing when it comes to one particular plumber. Kaycee is cool and she tries to keep everything organized, but some of the team members leave much to be desired. I'm fed up with Paul's temper tantrums and outbursts every time he arrives. It is easier to not talk to him at all and quietly let him work than to converse with him for too long. His son is surprisingly even-tempered, and I wish Adam would've showed up without him. Paul has been to our condo a couple of times to fix various issues and he's usually very good at his job. The problem is you have to stomach the attitude with the work. It is a 99% chance that he's going to start snapping and yelling about something. He'd replaced a wax ring in another unit when I was the condo board president, so when a pool of water appeared around my own toilet, I assumed it was the same issue. Although it's way less drama when Marcus or Ahmad show up, minus one time when Marcus couldn't figure out which pipe connected to which bathroom in the basement (and Paul easily figured this out even with 21 units to narrow down), I knew Paul had done this job before. He seemed to have a really tough time unscrewing the bolts and scratched up one side of my toilet. I can get a pumice stone or Barkeepers to fix that later. As far as I'm aware, he did replace the wax ring. I have no reason to believe he didn't before he put the toilet back in place. But then he demanded payment after it. I've hired 4S Plumbing at least a handful of times (possibly up to 10) and always pay electronically through their online platform. No one informed me that they no longer used it due to fees. Paul kept demanding payment via his private Zelle account even though I have always paid the company. Even when Zelle was an option, I paid the owner's company Zelle account, not the plumber's private one. He was so furious that I wouldn't pay him that he told Adam to stop packing up supplies when the job was done and said he was not leaving until he got paid. We both had to call the owner, Bill, who confirmed on speakerphone that I could "pay however I want." I've ALWAYS paid. Not only have I always paid, I've had to nag them to send me an invoice so I could pay. The last thing I'm going to do is cheat a contractor out of payment. After Paul hung up the phone on Bill (yet another disrespectful moment) and complained about how he's worked for the company for 15 years and never heard about an online site, he apologized a bunch of times and left. A month later, I have water pooling around my toilet again. I'm not dealing with this guy anymore. I asked for a different plumber to check his work. If it turned out to be something else wrong, I'd deal with that. But water was dripping behind my toilet and alongside it all over again. I don't think the wax ring he used worked or possibly caulking needs to be done. But the plumber who was supposed to come Thursday was a no-call, no-show. I called 3x and only heard he was on another job. A full 24 hours passed, and no one bothered to tell me what happened. Not cool. After complaining to the office, a plumber I'd never met before did a video call (after telling me repeatedly how far him driving here would be) to check Paul's work. He had other suggestions, which are useful. Regardless, Paul is NEVER welcome in my home again. This is the third time he's had an outburst. I'm over it. I'll hire another plumbing company if he's the only option that day! Side note: Tim did an amazing job on bath and shower upgrades for a family member's bathroom. It looked like a magazine photo when he was done. All of Ahmad's plumbing work is strategic, careful, often quick and never heard a complaint. read more

I would like to say that 4S plumbing was great but unfortunately I was never contacted or serviced for my scheduled estimate. I reached out for a help with a project via Yelp on 3/8/2021. The response from 4S was timely and provided me with all the information necessary to schedule my estimate. It was recommended that I schedule my estimate by texting William/Bill for the quickest response. I texted the number provided on 3/9/2021 and scheduled an estimate for my project with William/Bill for 3/10/2021 between 1pm and 3pm. It definitely was a quick and efficient way for scheduling a time that worked for both of us. A little bit before 1pm on 3/10 I texted asking for him to let me know when he was en route to my location so I could crate my dog prior to his arrival. I never heard back. I never received a phone call or text. Heck, not when even an email which he had as he asked for it when I provided all of my contact information. Nothing. Zilch. Zero. This is unfortunate and has lead me to be believe that I will most likely not be reaching out for 4S for an future plumbing needs. read more

Excellent service and honest dealing, going well beyond expectations. We stumbled on to 4S Plumbing unwittingly through a referral from another plumber that wasn't able to help us. It was a happy accident though. Our plumber Tim was not only professional but an all-around nice guy who was happy to answer questions and look at other plumbing and leak issues around the house. Tim had come to replace a kitchen faucet, but by the end of the visit our jammed garbage disposal was working and our previously useless upstairs bath had water pressure. Except for the faucet, these were all relatively simple fixes that a less scrupulous plumber could have easily have used to run up the bill. At the end of the day, half of our household maintenance list was checked off, and our bill was less than $400. As for the backend, Bill responded immediately to our call, scheduling Tim's visit within a few hours. Billing was prompt, and all labor and parts charges were clearly delineated in an email receipt, which we were able to pay online. In short, 4S is prompt, professional, modern and above all incredibly honest. Tim, thanks to you, my spouse will be able to take her first hot bath since we moved in. read more

Update! When the backflow valve was installed, I put a camera in my front window to document the whole process. When the owner learned of this, he asked if he could have a copy of the video for his own marketing purposes. I said sure, even made a time-lapse of the footage for him. He said he'd give me a free cleanout (annual maintenance) in exchange. Well the time came to schedule the annual cleanout, and despite my previous issues with 4S Plumbing, I figured I may as well cash in on that free cleanout. I contacted 4S and scheduled the work, and the guy who came out was a contractor who had his own processes and knew nothing about the "deal" I had with 4S. He gave me an invoice, I wrote him a check, and hoped the owner would honor his word. I even texted him about it. He said he "never got the footage." So I resent him the link, again hoping he'd figure out how to download it and...honor his word. Well you can probably guess where this is going...sure enough, that check got deposited, and no further word from 4S about my alleged free cleanout. This company is trash. I hired an employee of this company, Joseph Lundgren "Joseph the Plumber" to do work at my home. I do not know if 4S plumbing knows that Joseph is doing side jobs. His name and picture are on the 4S website. He came to my home for an estimate and gave a price to do the work. He wanted a 1000$ deposit to start. I gave him the money with Zelle and cash. He opened up a wall in my home and said he would return the next day to complete the work, after he initially promised to do it all the same day. He has lied ever since about returning to complete the work. He said he was coming and never showed up on two additional,different days. I waited the entire day for him to show up. Then he quit replying to text and phone calls. He did zero plumbing work and has stolen 1000$. I initially requested for the return of my deposit but he has been totally non responsive. Do not trust Joseph Lundgren!!! If he did not want to complete the job, he could have just easily refunded the deposit. Not sure you can trust a company this man works for. read more

Long story short, every communication we had to get "4S Plumbing Companies" to coordinate the date for the project was very, very poor and ineffective. However, the plumbers who were assigned to come in and complete the job were diligent, knowledgeable, and top-notch. I just had to take the average of these two (2) categories and render a three (3) star rating as the result. Since Roto-Rooter falsely diagnosed the problem on the primary pipe in our basement, hubby and I decided to find another plumbing company to get a second opinion. "4S Plumbing Companies" came up on the Yelp search. Without further ado, hubby gave them a call and attempted to schedule an at-home consultation. It was when the chain of mis-communication and lack of communication all started. The first meeting was to locate the issue and to use a camera to look at the pipe, but it was after a no-call-no-show. The dispatcher did call hubby back and apologized for the mix-up the next day. Well, it was still considered a major inconvenience, for he had to take time off work, open the door for the plumbers, and stay to monitor the work. After the camera work, the company promised us to send a quote ASAP so that we knew what to expect for the cost of labor and materials for fixing the broken pipe. Once again, we had no choice but to bombard them with calls to ask when the plumbers would be back again to commence the actual project. Hubby told me that he did raise his voice and "yell" at the customer service agent, yet I didn't think he acted impolitely. I knew he was extraordinarily persistent to reserve a spot because we couldn't wait on a callback anymore. Finally, our effort paid off and they sent us necessary documents for us to sign. We wanted to give a shoutout to the lead plumber, Eric, who was very approachable and awesome at explaining the work they did. Their job was clean and well-done. I have run the dish washer and washer a few times since the work was completed. There were no leaks and no glitches. In other words, they have gotten the problem absolutely straightened out! I wish the communication could have gone smoothly. We experienced so much pain in trying to get hold of someone, to get a date and time scheduled, and to get the date and time confirmed! Hubby and I almost gave up on "4S plumbing Companies" because they were extremely unorganized and clearly didn't know their priorities. We couldn't be more ready for someone to come to our house, pinpoint the problem, offer a solution, and close a deal so that we could present our credit card for you guys to charge us! We contacted plumbing companies to inspect our cistern, which our exterminator said may be providing access allwing rats to get into our house. 4S responded quickly and arranged to have the cistern pumped and the mainline rodded (even though the mainline was not our issue at the time, the price for both services was good). After these steps of the process were completed, I expected 4S to follow up with inspection of the cistern and some kind of report and recommendation for work (or not, depending on what they discovered). However, after the initial visits, 4S did not follow up. I contacted them a number of times and besides one text message essentially saying, "We'll get back to you" they did not reply in any way. So, while they performed some services well, they were NOT the services I really needed and they never even started to deal with the problem I reached out for help with. As a result, we've still got rats coming into our house. If this company was not interested in following up or didn't think there was anything they could do, I would have appreciated a message saying that so we could make other arrangements instead of waiting for them to reply. read more

I had a great experience in the beginning. I had to get work done at a high rise condo building and I called to change 4 valves. They had to shut water off building so the first guy that came was Marcus and he quoted me $640 for labor and material which I was fine with. When it was shut off day. Another guy name Peter came. Very unprofessional. Came with no tools or parts. He used my tools and parts. Then he tried to say job should of been $1700 and made me give him a $100 cash tip. After taking to owner direct. We needed a sink installed and the faucet reattached along with rodding of the sewer. I spoke with Bill who was quite pleasant. He sent Pete on a Monday. Pete tried cancelling because it was, "so late" but was told no, we wanted the service call appointment kept. (It was 5pm when it was "so late"). Pete would look at nothing, talk about nothing, would do absolutely nothing until he got $100 cash. 20 minutes later he decided he had to come back the next day to "finish rodding" and connect the faucet and attach the sink. The faucet needed an adapter to connect it to the pipes and he took the connectors with him saying he would be back the following day which was Tuesday. The next day Pete called at 9:50 am and said he would be arriving between 10am-12pm to complete the job. That window of time came and went with no response from Pete who decided to arrive at 1:30pm, at which time I had already left the house. I advised him that I would be there in 10 minutes to which he replied that he "can't wait that's too long." despite his being 90 minutes late to the end of the window for the appointment. He said he would "go do another job and come back" to which I continued on errands. Twenty minutes later, he called and said he would wait for me. I got home and there was no Pete. Eventually, he showed up an hour later and decided that after looking at the faucet we had "European pipes" and he had to get a different adapter. Then he decided he couldn't rod the pipes or install the sink until Friday, mind you, we couldn't shower or flush the toilet. We never heard anything from Pete so I contacted Bill to find out when we were going to get someone to finish installing our faucet and rodding the sewer pipe. He had Pete call who proceeded to tell me that he didn't want to finish rodding because he thought a pipe was broke and he hadn't found the right fitting for our "European pipe" and he has to go to different warehouses (4 he claimed), and he would come when he found the right part. We had all the parts already installed, he just had to stop the leak. For this, we were charged $100 cash and $745 credit. We still had to hire someone else to install the sink, reattach the faucet, and rod the sewer, which was done by one person at a grand total cost of $650. Do not use these people, or if you absolutely cannot find anyone else, if Pete shows up at your door: don't answer it because all you will be doing is throwing money in the air. Terrible service, or lack therof. We never did get our adapter back. read more

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! If I can save a singe customer from the experience I have had over the past month! I had a pipe burst around Christmas and this service came out to defrost my pipes. Since they responded I decided to use them for a rerouting. The plumber was not only late but showed up at 7pm and stayed till midnight rerouting. The plumber had to come back several days later to finish the installation because my contractor had to redo some framing. One of the laundry valves they installed leaked and it took the plumber several days to come out, however the valve was never replaced. After almost a week of no shows and no communication, a different plumber showed up and installed a wash tub hook up that was supposed to be done at the same time as the laundry. As he was leaving I said there is a leak and he told me he had spilled water. Pipe was still leaking about 2 hrs later I called them to come back... the plumber tried to tell me it was "ground water leaking" until I pointed out the leak in the cold water valve they had installed the week prior. This is how they left my new drywall.... I'm praying their work holds up but am skeptical! Please save yourself the headache and heartache! Hopefully their contract holds up if there is any further issue! *****update... as you can see by the owner's response he holds no responsibility for the people he employs. I was in contact numerous times with him and his plumbers. Many reschedules and no shows and it took me going to the BBB and my credit card company to reverse payment for services to get someone out. Another company had come out on Christmas Eve and fixed my busted pipe. His company came out on Christmas and defrosted my pipes causing one to burst while they were there and they had to fix it. I went with them after several estimates because they came out on Christmas and it was nothing but a headache and hassle to get the work done. As you can see by the photos below they do inferior work, and had to put multiple holes in my drywall to put pipes through and wrote on my walls. They did not wrap the rerouted pipes they placed and I have to have someone now come out and fix their work. Plumbers were late and at my house till almost midnight to reroute pipes, and several other plumber's mysteriously showed up late in the evening to help this plumber finish his job, their in dependability set my contractor back a whole day waiting for their plumber to show up to finish the job he was supposed to be there for at 8am, and didn't show up till close to 2pm after multiple calls to this owner and his plumber.Believe who you want.... But again, use at your own risk. This company embellishes the extent in which they respond and perform their work. Look at some of their other online reviews and you will see similar complaints! Peter scoped our sewer, explained what the video was showing in a thorough manner, and did it all with care for us and the home buying process. Afterward, he also walked around the home and answered any plumbing related questions and offered his advice. He also gave us an estimate on adding a gas line from the basement to the kitchen so that we can put in a gas stove instead of electric. I'm so glad I took the chance to find a plumber that would work evening hours on Yelp earlier on today. I stumbled upon 4S Plumbing Companies. William, the Owner, was super-fast in giving me a quote. He was even able to send someone out the very same afternoon (Saturday) to replace the wax ring on my toilet. :-) Ahmad was the best Plumber ever. He installed the wax ring super fast, but had to return to install a second ring (over the first one), seeing that the toilet still leaked after his first fix. He was good enough to check for cracks on my toilet and wait at least 15 more minutes after the second ring was installed - to make sure that there were no further leaks. I'm definitely keeping this company's phone number in my Contacts for any future fixes. Their prices are reasonable too and they work evenings and weekends. I the past two weeks they have completed 2 jobs for my 79 year old mother: 1. Two new water sill cocks were installed outside for the front and back yards. Our plumber, Ahmad, was excellent suggesting upgrades to bring the old inside plumbing up to code (using brass unions to connect old Galvanized Pipe to New Copper Ones), install 4 shut off valves inside & prepare the home for a new Chicago Water Meter so we did not do the same work twice - paying again. 2. When my bathroom sink developed a slow drain, and my numerous attempts to clear it myself proved futile, it was time to call 4S. Paul arrived and discovered that I had a far bigger issue - my drain had cracked. What I thought would be a fast/easy fix was a far bigger project. Paul was terrific, though, at every step of the way. He kept me informed throughout the project, and allowed me to make the decisions. The price was fair & he was great about clean-up. I booked 4S for a sewer inspection, while it did take a number of follow ups to ensure we were setup for the day, they got the job done. Bill was very responsive and accommodating, great experience working with him. However, I cannot say the same for his Plumber Pete, who was rude to the seller of the property and me. Reading through the other reviews it looks like the "it's going to cost an extra $100" is a repeat conversation with this plumber specifically. Sounds like he is pocketing this "extra surprise fee". If your plumbers don't want to do a job that's fine, just be conscious of who is on your team and how they are representing your brand. This review would have been a 5, Pete was the biggest detractor. His lack of professionalism and bad attitude will prevent customers from returning for additional services. But as I mentioned above, the job was completed successfully. read more

We had a leaky faucet, which we assumed it would be an easy fix. Joke's on us. There were a bunch of things that were rusted/broken. We ultimately decided to repair it versus replacing it, which was done quickly and painlessly by the great crew at 4S Plumbing. As an added bonus, they came on the Monday of a three-day weekend (President's Day) and it wasn't an extra surcharge. This made it great for us, as we were already off and didn't have to take a vacation day for the plumber. All in all, would highly recommend. read more

**This review is for the service I received from Peter.** The sink and garbage disposal in our kitchen have been clogging up for the past week or so. I turned to yelp for plumbing suggestions and saw that this company was highly recommended. When Peter arrived, he diagnosed the problem and accurately determined that the issue was not within our condo but was with lines in the building. He advised me to check in with the condo association for them to fix it. This is noteworthy because he was not just trying to get paid, but to actually help fix the problem. When you call plumbers and similar companies, it's usually because you do not know how to resolve the issue on your own and need someone to give good advice. Some people take advantage of the fact that you don't know how to fix whatever issue and they try to convince you to do work that you don't actually need. Not Peter -- he was very honest and like I said, gave accurate advice even though that would have meant not getting paid. Slight ding to this review just for overall value. The work that Paul the plumber did will probably end up being fine--changed the toilet flapper on five toilets in my building and two fluid masters. In retrospect I should have asked for a quote before the work was done, but I took his word that it would only take about an hour to instal--plus a 30min trip to the hardware store for parts. The billed amount was $1023, but I give kudos to the owner Bill for being responsive enough to give me a $100 volume discount. Still feels like a lot for the type of work done, but his plumber did seem to solve the leaking problem. Since that time, our next water bill was about $200 less, so the repair will pay for itself in about a year. read more

I was given a 2 hour window and was told the guys would call 30 min or so before they arrived, and that's exactly what happened. Two guys came to unclog my kitchen sink, they were really respectful of my space, did their thing, and made sure I was comfortable with the results before they left. Just make sure the address is; 6807 W. Irving Park Rd. Called them out to find out why my sink and dishwasher would not drain. When they got out here, they said all I needed was a rodding. $275 He did get my sink drain open. He also, broke my hot water on/off valve due to the vibration of the rodding, broke my hinge on my sink cabinet, the drain backed up and exploded on to my carpet, which blew out grease, food particles, drain wastage, the carpet was solid, the walls were solid, and very bad stench left, threw out the area for days. They didn't even come back to clean up the mess. Called there office numerous times, no return phone calls. So far I had a carpet cleaning service come out to clean and deodorize my carpet. My cost is $975 so far. Still, have to clean my walls, fix my valve, fix my cabinet and see why my dishwasher won't drain. It's been hell. He fully repaired my toilet, which had been improperly sealed twice by my previous plumber, and explained each step of his process. He was honest about which of my drains just needed minor cleaning out, and which needed full rodding to remove a clog. He provided discounts on the more expensive services and made it clear that his goal was to keep me as a customer for life.
