We've been using Sound Plumbing for many years and simply wouldn't call anyone else. We have a 140 yr old house and with it comes many problems. Once when we were away on winter vacation, had a pipe break in our Chicago freezing temps and gave Kevin, the owner, a call in a panic. He said no problem and he met up with our caretaker and fixed the issue in a flash, saving us from having to come right home. Just today, his guys Lance and Josh came to the house to troubleshoot a leak in the basement to find it was coming from a bidet toilet on the floor above it. Complicated? Yes. But not so much that these experts coudn't solve the issue and fix us right up in short order. Obviously, we can enthusiastically recommend Sound Plumbing and congratulate our wisdom in finding such a great resource, not only competent but trustworthy and reliable. We've been using Sound for a few years for our plumbing needs. Sound was recommended by a neighbor and we've been really happy. Recently we had an issue with our washing machine drain pipe overflowing sporadically. Sporadic problems are the worst to diagnose and treat. On their first visit, they were unable to find the issue but did their best to troubleshoot. We had them back a bit later and they were able to diagnose the issue; part of our drain hose dislodged and was stuck in a pipe in our wall. They came back and cut open our wall, cut out the section of pipe with the issue and replaced it and let us know about an unknown leak behind the wall. We really trust Sound to take care of us and charge a fair price. While we don't like to have to call them, we appreciate their expertise, promptness, and professionalism. read more

Early this AM as I was brushing my teeth and washing my face, I was greeted with the unpleasant sight of dirty water backing up into my shower drain. I texted Sound Plumbing and Mitch was able to come take a look that same day. This remarkably friendly & professional fellow took on the wacky drain line in my century-old house and got our tub draining even better than when we first moved in. He also helped me out with several long-term maintenance tips -- the routine maintenance I was previously doing myself doesn't actually help our plumbing at all! I reached out through Yelp and within an hour of submitting my inquiry, Sound Plumbing had reached out and asked for more information. After some texting back-and-forth, I was quoted an hourly price and they offered to come out same day. Mitch and Chris were very helpful and patient when walking us through what they were doing and answering all of our questions. They helped us learn a few things so we as new homeowners could potentially address some of these issues in the future. I would recommend them. I don't write reviews but I am writing this because these people are good. We have a old building that has had a lot of work done and is wrong. Finding Sound Plumbing has been a saving grace. We had a project that Sound Plumbing was taking care of and even when their tools get stuck their team knows what to do. I am a penny pitcher and they are the most affordable. They are good when you know you save their telephone number to your contacts. I just used Sound for the first (but likely not the last) time! Kevin & Mitch were responsive, quick to accurately diagnose the source and scope of the issue & very, very good at what they do - repairing plumbing issues in an efficient, straight forward, very cost effective way!! On top of all of that Kevin & Mitch are not only excellent plumbers (& communicators) they are amazingly good people!!! After their not quick or easy plumbing repair job was completed and I'd agreed to their price (which at $840 was $100 lower than the low end of the range they'd estimated (and their range was a lot lower than their competitor's proposal!) they looked at an unrelated issue regarding water dripping from a recently installed furnace's exhaust vent line and when I requested they immediately fixed it. I then asked how much more I owed & they refused to charge any more than we'd agreed on for the first repair job. Then they turned down the $20 I offered as a 'how about I buy you each a beer' gratuity. I've dealt with a number of 'run of the mill' small contractors recently and I haven't wanted to post any reviews. Can't speak highly enough about the work Kevin and team did for my wife and I on our little workers cottage rehab. Complete rebuild of our system, to perfect specs. Comms were excellent, price was spot on, and the guys hustled like crazy to get it done under a tight schedule. I noticed a gas smell coming from our dryer shut-off valve after disconnecting the dryer; they said they'd squeeze me in the next day to get it taken care of. Kevin came out on the early side of the appointment, took his shoes off before coming in the house without me asking and replaced the valve within 15 minutes. Its hard to find a great plumber - after being ghosted by the first, the second was clueless and left me with zero confidence, sound plumbing was my third attempt to get my water heater leak fixed. I was hopeful based on the previous reviews. The company were amazing! Quick, responsive and reasonably priced. The gentleman who arrived was polite, courteous and professional but most of all he knew what he was talking about. They were kind about opening holes in the wall in unseen places so I wouldn't have to patch and asked me to confirm I felt I needed to open a visible hole elsewhere with their recommendation/insight before doing so. Very happy. Small job, needed a new sump pump. Scheduler said they could have someone over pretty quickly. Technician came out within a couple of hours although I told them it wasn't an emergency. Really cool stuff. * Utilized the proper tools for each task. Had a puller for compression washers and angle stop wrenches. The crimper tool is mesmerizing. * Very accurate placement of fixtures. I called the office and Debbie was able to get someone out to inspect a possible leak that day. Mitch was dispatched to our apartment to look for the leak. He was prompt, professional and knowledgeable. I had already removed a section of the ceiling to expose the pipes. He spent about an hour looking. Although we didn't find the source of the leak, Mitch suggested I not close up the ceiling for a while. It's been about a week and no leaks. He said it could have be my upstairs neighbor.
