This restaurant was pretty busy on a Saturday evening for dinner. I got the Chinatown Beef and Noodles, which was okay. The noodles tasted very simple and kind of like takeout. If I had to guess, it was just tossed with some soy sauce, rice vinegar, and sesame oil. The baby carrots and corn were kind of an odd addition- they didn't exactly go with the dish, but I didn't mind them either. The burger here wasn't bad though, but also not incredible. I was trying to decide between the burger & the steak tips & the waiter said he would do the steak tips, so I did. I ordered the steak tips medium, but they were over cooked. It didn't bother me too much that they were not pink when I cut into them, but the outside was charred/tasted burned . My husband had ordered a chicken sandwich so he gave me 1/2 of his chicken & ate 1/2 of my tips. He said he thought that charring them was how they served them. If that's the case, they should say that on the menu! The server was nice & asked if I wanted to change them, but I didn't want a full dish prepared. The truffle fries were great & the service was decent. The restaurant was warm & at first we were seated at the back of the restaurant near the hot kitchen! I noticed the people sitting in the front of the restaurant near an open window were leaving & we asked if we could sit there. They were happy to reseat us & we had a good time. Took a bit to be seated/to get anyone's attention. Atleast they were playing updated music although fairly loudly. To be fair the windows were open and since were in the city it was beep after beep after beep. But the music mostly covered them (unless ur sitting right by the window). After a few min I noticed the kid was take a short break drinking something and on his phone. At that point me and my partner started waving more at the waiter but no luck. We were ready to put in our full order but the waiter left as soon as he said where we can sit. After a bit we got to put in our drinks and dinner order. The pork belly was ok but dry (4 pieces skewered like bacon). The Shirley temple was one of the most watery ones I've had We both got the main burger since the burger of the week was depressing compared to the name. "Suicide squad" but all they did was swap the cheese for pepper jack and other cheese + bacon. The buns were BUUUUTTTEEERRREDDD and had sooo many sesame seeds (pro for my partner, con for me). The meat was well done, dry and for my partner burnt. The "secret" sauce was basically just thousand island. After eating the fries it was clear they were using some pretty old oil, I was nauseous and couldn't finish. The whole time we ate we saw 3 other party's come in and wait the same amount of time as us. After asking for the check we had to wait several minutes... only to get the wrong check . While the closing of an all-time favorite Intermission Tavern was oh so bittersweet (RIP world's best fried pitas), the phoenix rising that is 4th Wall showed great promise early on. Streamlined yet creative menu to accommodate limited kitchen space, a centerpiece bar with a nice selection of drafts and bottles, and killer location give the newcomer a head start in establishing roots. And like its predecessor, the name caters to the theatre crowd. The aforementioned chicken thighs are crisp, juicy and perhaps most importantly, not swimming in their sweet and spicy Tsao's glaze. Paired with a Great Divide radler, I inhaled them, and wanted another plate - a testament to their flavor and serving size. Wife was a bit underwhelmed by her grilled cheese ($12). Loved the chicken and pig sandwich with truffle fries. Very reasonable prices for Boston and chill atmosphere on the Tremont Street experience. Decent bar setup with TVs and even some seats in the front windows so you can watch the never-ending play that is Boston's theatre district. Doesn't open until 4 pm but you can stay until 2 am. By far the best, if not the only place to get actual food after midnight--if you want cooked-by-a-chef actual food. read more

Came into this place and it was pretty busy. We waited until someone said we could take a seat. As we went to the seat they told us to take, some group pushed us out of the way and took our seats. I'd like to say I'm surprised, but it's Boston. The servers weren't having any of it. Told them they needed to leave and gave us our seats. The server was always attentive and checking in with us, even though it looked like it was only her and one other. The food was not only fast, but really good. The burgers and fries were top notch. This was quite literally our first taste of Boston. My boyfriend and I just arrived to our hotel and headed out around midnight for anything other than airport food. We stumbled upon this place and thought the menu seemed great. Atmosphere: we didn't drink, but this seems like a fun place to hang out at. It's not huge but it does have a large bar and plenty of tables. It's decorated nicely and just has a really great vibe. Service: the service was very friendly and attentive. They were somewhat busy, but we were never put on the back burner. Even when he couldn't get out from behind the bar, he'd just look to us and ask if we were okay. Everyone there was actually very nice and helpful. This makes a huge impact. We were a just couple simply having a late night dinner in the corner, well into the nightlife and we were treated just as good as their normal, thirsty patrons. Food: very pleasantly surprised. We were so hungry and figured at that hour bar food was as good as it was going to get. This was not bar food. It was excellent. The burger was very tasty, the nachos (recommendation) were great, and those cheese fries might be my new addiction. Such a great first meal and introduction to this wonderful city. I have never left a bad review before but the service and attitude I received was unbelievable and worthy of this. I went in to grab a drink after dinner on July 14th and when I handed them my ID they were suspicious. That alone is totally fine, it's an older Oregon ID and I respect an establishments right to refuse service. However, the server then bent my ID back and forth while laughing about how he could "make this himself" then he said he was taking it to be scanned and brought it to the bartender and they laughed while continuing to bend it. They refused to serve me since they couldn't believe my ID, once again fine, but upon returning home I looked at it and my ID has a serious crack in it. I called just to say that I thought it was a bad sequence of actions they took and the woman who answered told me that "real IDs don't bend at all." And "When it was in her hands it wasn't dented". I came to Boston for my best friends birthday and now my only identification is seriously damaged. Genuinely bummed out and sad about how they treated me. I don't need anyone to be overly kind but after breaking someone's ID the least they could do was apologize. read more

On November 9th my mom and I made our way down to Boston, and we were searching for a quick late night bite, after long research and my mom was craving pretzels and I was considering nachos my mom and I walked down to 4th Wall. The ambiance seemed charming, it was a bar and as we ordered our drinks and food we had high hopes, I can't fathom the thought of this restaurant with 1 star rating, because the food was nothing spectacular. We ordered pan sheet nachos, beer cheese & pretzels, and macaroni and cheese with bratwurst. All was very mediocre, the cheese on nachos were cold, pretzel's cheese tasted like nacho cheese and the mac don't get me started my favorite guilty pleasure I expected cheesier and it was dry and sweet. How can someone mess up nachos, pretzels, and Mac and Cheese, huge thumbs down. I wouldn't spend a penny there ever again. The drinks we got were the Sweater Weather and Don't Be Chai was decent at best, disappointed that everything within this place fell into mediocre level. read more

Great little neighborhood bar. Good vibe, good service, good drinks and food. I started with a couple of the Lord Hobo Meat and Potatoes stouts. Never had it before, but I'm glad I took the bartender's recommendation. From there, a cup of the corn and lobster chowder with homemade croutons really hit the spot. Then I went with the nachos with steak. This thing comes out in a bowl, and at first, I thought they messed up my order and brought me a salad instead. Nope. They're nachos alright. A very different type of chip, kind of reminded me of the flaky crisp that resembled a nacho salad bowl. Loaded with delicious steak, cheese, ranch, and other toppings. Huge order. Very filling. Even his coworker tried to tell him to relax, but he refused to serve us and kicked us out pretty loudly & rudely. It was close to their closing time, so he was probably tired too. Very good. Went here for lunch today. We got there at the perfect time because it really filled up. I had the burger and a salad. No complaints but the burger could have been cooked a little longer for medium. If you're really picky about your red meat I would have them cook it longer than usual. A group of us (4 adults and 4 kids- ages 5-7) attended a show in Boston. Following the show, we were looking for lunch nearby that was family friendly. We stumbled upon 4th Wall through yelp. Upon arriving, we considered turning away. The outside looks very much like a hole in the wall and there wasn't a single customer inside. Being prime lunchtime on a Saturday, we were skeptical. Once we got inside, we were greeted by the waitress and bar attendant who was very pleasant! We ordered the nachos to share and they were delicious! My husband ordered the ruban and was very pleased. My friend and I split the burger of the week. It was good but didn't have the wow factor I was looking for. Two of the kids ordered the grilled cheese with tomato and Spanish and they were large and tasty. The French fries were VERY good! Overall, don't go on first impressions! It's a weird mix between a lively bar and restaurant but I appreciate the effort at a nice full menu in a place like this. I had a couple gin and tonics which were quite good and strong. Their menu is limited but has some really nice dinner options. I chose the hanger steak cooked medium. It arrived quickly but was overdone and chewy. The side of street corn was just okay. My partner's meal was also mediocre (burger). Our waiter was exceptionally nice. He was trying his best but it became too busy for him to keep up with tables. It took a while for the second round of drinks. After the meal he initially brought back a bill which was not ours. We waited patiently for him to return the correct bill which charged us for an extra we never had. We sucked it up, paid and got out of there. Overall great people with great intentions. I called to order a meal late night for takeout and a gentleman answered the phone. The kitchen was still open and the gentleman told me to hold on for a moment...I heard a loud restaurant in the background and then all of a sudden a click. I assumed it was maybe an accident but when I called back, the phone just kept ringing. I called multiple times because there are not a lot of late night options and no one answered the phone again. Fantastic spot to grab a quick drink and bite to eat. Located close to some popular venues like the Wilbur, Royal and the Bosch Center, it's an easy place to grab some pre-show food and drinks. I visited here a few evenings ago and my girlfriend and I enjoyed a meal with 2 other people. The food came out quickly and was of good quality. My girlfriend and I split the chicken bites appetizers and a cheese burger with garlic Parmesan fries. All the food was excellent and cooked to our liking. It was also out promptly and the wait staff and bartenders were friendly and accommodating.
