Incredible integrity -- I'm a customer for life! Having had negative experiencing with auto repair service companies over the years, I was blown away with 4x4's honesty. I took my Tesla Model S to have my hitch either welded or repaired because it was loose. A friend told me that I might lose my e-bikes if I didn't get the hitch repaired. I met with Joey at 4x4 to get a bid to repair my hitch. At first look, he suggested that it will take about 3 hours to repair because he would have to remove the back bumper. The estimate was going to be around $525. But, before I set up an appointment to return for the repair, Joey double checked something and found that there was a loose bolt. He recruited one of his mechanics who climbed under my car to tighten the bolt using an extension wrench. 15 minutes later, Joey told me the hitch is securely attached and that my e-bikes were safe for transport. I was ready to pay for the repair, but Joey told me that there was no payment due! I was shocked -- I didn't know what to say. I don't remember this ever happening for any kind of automotive repair before. I told him how surprised I was and told him I will definitely tell my friends and return the next time I need auto repairs. This really made my day -- I felt like there are good people and businesses still out there. If you need any auto repair work done, I highly recommend checking with 4x4. Drove in to get an estimate for some suspension work on my truck. They spent about 20 mins noting down all my trucks details inc VIN etc and my contact details and said they'd get back to me with a quote. 2 weeks pass and heard nothing so I drop in to find out whats going on. They tell me they took down the VIN wrong so I asked them why they didnt call me - they said they lost my contact details. No apology or anything for wasting my time - totally unacceptable read more

Great experience aligning my 61 Plymouth Fury. Best alignment I've had on any of old my cars in years. The steering wheel was perfectly centered, all settings exactly as I wanted them, car has never driven better. I have a 2005 Nissan Titan 4 x 4 and had airbags installed in the rear and had a leak and they fixed it. No problem and two years later a bolt came out and they fix that. No problem at all. We have a sprinter 2020 3500 XD and it use to have so much play in the back. We had 4x4 and more install a upgraded rear sway bar and a better horn. They did a great job and were so friendly. I had high hopes for this shop but after 2 for 2 bad experiences I would not recommend them. Terrible customer service! First time I took in my f350 7.3 for a basic oil change / tire rotation and check engine light code. I made an appointment and dropped off my truck at 8 am. When I hadn't heard back all day I called to check in at 3pm. They informed me that they were just then getting to it and would be done by the end of the day... so why the appointment and 8am drop off?? When I picked up they told me that diesel specialist didn't make it in that day. Not sure why they needed him for something as basic as an oil change. And they charged me a full 2 hrs labor. $350 for oil change and tire rotation! Well I decided to give them the benefit of the doubt and bring it back to follow up on my check engine light issue. Again I made an appointment and again I dropped it off at 8 am. 3pm rolls around so I call to check up, the woman at the front desk was extremely rude and gave me a story about how they would need to order parts and they were short staffed . At this point I'm pretty frustrated so I just go to pick it up only to find it hasn't even moved from where I left it! She tells me " well we scanned it again and it's throwing the same code". No shit! They didn't clear the code from before so obviously it's going to be the same and I didn't bring it in to be scanned again! The woman at the front desk was still being very rude and talking to me like I don't know anything about the mechanics of my truck. She tried telling me that I would need a new valve cover gasket with integrated wiring harness.. not true! They are made to be reused when removed properly, but she had no idea and when I informed her she laughed in a very unprofessional manner. Why is it so hard to find honest mechanics!?!? I will say that Harry at least apologized for the inconvenience but I was done with them wasting my time at that point read more

Let me start this review by saying prior to 2016 this was the best shop in the greater Bay Area too have your Jeep worked on period. I have a 1985 CJ-7 and 4x4 & more rebuilt my Dana 300 transfer case in 2015, they did a fantastic job still leak free. In May 2019 after speaking with Andrea, the shops front desk girl who quoted me a reasonable price to do some major work on my jeep CJ. I had 4x4 & more swap out my old & tired TBI 350 with a new GM Performance 350 TBI they removed my 700r4 (I sent that to Scott's Valley Transmission) to be rebuilt. The issues I encountered, Andrea was friendly during the appraisal session, dropping off session and calling me to pick up my jeep one week later. I made it 5 mile and my Jeep broke down. Speedometer cable disconnected, floor shifter would not shift into gear with out fighting it, Drive was all I could get. Exhaust leak from manifold, this put it in limp mode so I was unable to go any faster then 40mph. The Jeep was running 210 degrees at 630pm, I limped it back to their shop. 1 week later Andrea calls me telling me I have to pick up my Jeep because now the "Newley rebuilt transmission is no longer shifting into 2nd gear, 4x4 & more re-installed that transmission the week prior and it worked fine, (I was advised that 4x4 & more never installed any fluid into it after it was installed after it being rebuilt) Andrea was unprofessional in her phone conversation with me, raising her voice and threatening me at one point. The shop elevated their prices from original quote, charged me for supplying my own part, that was not disclosed on the work order. The "new owner" Dan Watkins and his staff at 4x4 & more have no business calling themselves a Jeep specialist, their attention to detail and mechanical abilities are poor at best. I spent $ 3,352.00 on labor & part I paid $ 2,250.00 on the motor myself and was charged approx. $ 300.00 for supplying the motor to them. The transmission was a separate charge I paid to Scott's Vally Transmission. If you need a transmission rebuild or serviced they are the best that I have ever dealt with or have ever found, great service, I highly recommend them. For whoever is reading this hopefully this gives you a fair heads-up and makes you think twice before using 4 x 4 and More. I have also contacted the BAR ( bureau of automotive repair ) and placed a formal complaint about this business and non-disclosure of charges. I have contacted the Better Business Bureau in regards to their poor business practices and poor customer service. I only quoted them one star because you cannot post this review with zero stars. read more

This is a review for over $3k worth of work done on a 1997 4x4 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Eric and his wife are very nice people who have a lot of potential. The overall work they did on the Jeep has so far proven to be good but a few critical issues did come up that prevent me from giving their shop five stars. It should be noted that Eric made good on all the mishaps below after I brought them to his attention. He deserves credit for doing his very best to make up for his employees' oversights. Regardless, after having spent more than $3k at his shop, none of the issues below should have ever occurred. One: An air hose was not reattached and after finding it dangling on the ground I had to return to the shop to get it properly attached. (Frustrating event since I live more than an hour away.) Two: The plastic cover underneath the radiator that protects it from dirt and rocks was partially reattached (only two of four screws were put on) and as a result it partially fell off four days after picking the Jeep up from the shop. It dragged on the ground for at least 30 miles before I realized what was wrong. Three: The air filter box only had one of three screws bolted back to the vehicle frame after it had been removed for engine work. Perhaps not a big deal but definitely something that a five star shop does not do. Four: I was charged $25 for an air filter I was never given. This was very frustrating since it made me wonder what else I was billed for that might not have been completed. Five: I was not credited the $85 inspection fee I was promised for having done my repairs at his shop until I called a couple days after receiving the final bill to inquire about the missing credit from the itemized report. I can't emphasize enough how badly Eric felt for all of this. He accepted full responsibility and made everything right. This is why I'm giving his shop three stars instead of one. If none of the issues above had occurred, it would have been my pleasure to give his shop five stars. read more

I had another shop install new gears in my 2008 Jeep Rubicon Unlimited and I was having some issues. I wanted to get a second opinion so I called 4X4 and More and the woman on the phone said that "Eric" would call me back as soon as possible. He called me back a couple of hours later, just as the woman on the phone had said, and he was willing to listen to my issue in detail. He suggested that I come in so that he could take a look for himself and after a test drive he too felt that there was something wrong. He pulled my diff covers and figured out that the previous shop installed different gears in the front and the rear. I appreciate the fact that he was willing to spend the time to REALLY look into my issue. He paid very close attention to detail and was extremely professional from start to finish. Even though his shop is about 25 miles from home I will definitely be going back as needed. Major thumbs up! read more

I know very little about cars and took my Tahoe in to be serviced because it was acting up. The AC was broken, the rear view mirror had fallen off and a whole host of other problems. Eric and his crew rock! Have had my 07 supercharged/lifted Toyota FJ to several shops for 65K and regular service... NO ONE HAS DONE A JOB EVEN CLOSE TO 4X4 And More! Reasonable, on time and obvious 4x4 experts. The alignment done previously would not hold... during a regular service Eric and team found lower control arm bushing and inside tire rod end were both out of spec... I had just bought a 2005 Jeep Liberty CRD (diesel) and needed to have all the 100k miles preventative maintenance done on it, and so I called 4x4 and More to find out if they could accommodate this rare little Jeep diesel's needs. Eric (the owner) talked with me directly and was very friendly and knowledgeable over the phone. I ended up needing to have the timing-belt, water pump, thermostat, differentials, transmission, and filters changed. And so over the course of a few months, he and his crew got it all done. They were very accommodating, AND friendly throughout the entire process, and willing to address any needs that I brought up. I brought my 2003 E350 7.3 Powerstroke in on a Monday for an oil change and a look over some general problems I've been having, hoping to find someone familiar with diesel and to take gentle care of my ride. (5/5) Donald was very good noticing I was leaking diesel and suggested I bring the car back when he would have more time to find and fix the leak. I made an apt for Wednesday at 10am when the schedule was "wide open." I dropped my van off at 9am and at 1pm I called to check up on the van and was told it wasn't even on the rack yet and probably wouldn't be today, and I was asked to bring it back the next week... Why then was an appointment offered to me that day in the first place?!? (2/10... 1/10?). This was extremely frustrating as I drive from SF and have no other ride or even friend to ask a ride anywhere nearby. I was offered a discount rate to come back later... 3/10 finish. I won't be bringing the van back because for the effort and delay I can do the work myself faster and cheaper; however, if I were to encounter any real problems in to future I would return as Donald seemed familiar with the 7.3 and other techs very capable, it was the complete breakdown of communication and loss of my own time that were frustrating. read more

Place is a total rip off. Took it there for a couple stripped bolts and a broken antenna. I also brought it in for a cracked flexplate. Was told they'd call me and let me know how much things would cost. They didn't. I called them 2 days after I dropped it off and she tells me they did everything.. nice.. and that my cracked flexplate was not in fact a cracked flexplate. Just a knock from a "high mileage engine" lol. So after paying $400 ya.. $400 for loosening 2 bolts and another caliper bolt that had snapped. I then had a f**cked up, stripped out, antenna mount that they couldn't get off...nice. Took my jeep to another shop they replaced my flex plate.. No more knock. If you wanna get ripped off this is the best shop around!! read more

What a great crew. My family and I are on vacation heading down the coast starting with the Lost Coast Trail and camping our way down towards Southern California when a leaf on my XJ broke. We were able to limp our Jeep to 4X4 And More. We were pretty much stranded and it didn't look like we were going to be able to find replacement parts within the week. One of the mechanics offered to give me a leaf pack he pulled off his own Jeep for free. Wow!!! We ended up spending the day at the beach and showing up first thing the next day to replace the bad leaf. There were a couple complications but when all was said and done they had us rolling again and on our way home before lunch. Thanks again guys!
