How to know a good Boba? Good reviews, comfortable atmosphere, delicious drinks and service with a smile. Patio Cafe Boba has it all. The interior seating is clean and modern, the self serve kiosk is convenient, the menus are large and easy to read and the service is friendly and helpful. We were very satisfied with the value and quality of the boba.

5.2 Patio is a great spot for boba runs. I live nearby so after I'm done with soccer, errands, school, etc. I stop by here. The place is small and cute, offering a claw machine, a shelf with fun snacks, and some tables. Their boba is yum! I consistently order the Mango Black Tea with boba and mango popping boba and it always hits. Besides from their boba, their shaved ice, popcorn chicken, and fries are delicious! I recommend coming here if you are close.

The place is very quiet and calm which is my most favorite thing about this place. The drinks and foods are amazing too. My most favorite foos in this place is the crispy chicken snack. The prices are also very fair. Customer service is top notch with them being patient and recommending me foods/drinks all the time.

I came here today for a boba, after being curious about this place for quite some time. I saw people coming in and out so I figure it might be good? I ordered a regular size milk tea and my only regret was not getting a large. The tea tasted great with the perfect amount of sweetness and the boba was nice and soft! I'm a bit of a boba snob, so when I say this place is good... I mean it! :)

Came across this place. A nice hidden gem in La Cresenta, it's in the same plaza as the Vons. I got their matcha green tea snow with boba, crispy chicken medium spice level, and their fried calamari. The flavor on the matcha snow was full matcha flavor and creamy with soft, yet sweet chewy boba. I love the batter they use for their fried munchies. A tempura batter, not too greasy, yet light with a hint of salt. Most places I've gone too they use too much batter and it's overly salty. Plus most places only has fries. I'll definitely be coming back here when I get a chance.

Was looking for a refreshing drink after a hot day walking around Descanso Gardens. I found 5.2 Patio through Yelp and was excited to give it a try. Their menu was incredible! I love all of the different drink and "add-in" options. They have snow, tea, smoothies, coffee, slushes and more! My favorite thing about this place was that they are able to take down the sweetness of any drink by the percentage of your choosing. I love boba, but so often it's overly sweet. I was so happy that I got to enjoy my favorite Taro flavor while cutting down on the sugar. I gave it 4 stars because we did end up waiting a while for our beverages. They only had one employee working, and our drinks ended up sitting behind the counter out of reach while the person was ringing up other customers. They do have a kitchen that prepares hot food, so the one employee was making the drinks, running orders to the kitchen and ringing people up. Wouldn't recommend going here if you are in any sort of rush. If I am in the area anytime soon, I would stop by here again to try another one of their drinks :)

Crispy Chicken Snack FOR SIX DOLLARS ?!?!?! there's like 2 bites in there .....

This is the first time I've ever been disappointed in 5.2 and I have been coming here for years (since I was in middle school). I haven't been back often since I was away at college but the quality and portion sizes have taken a hit since I was last here. Let's start with the good - the boba is still good and the variety of flavors is still one of the reasons I keep coming back. Another reason was for the popcorn chicken but now I'm starting to rethink that part. Now being sold for almost $6 (FOR THE SNACK) the popcorn chicken price has increased AND the size dramatically decreased. You used to get a small brown bag with enough to match the price but now it's this small cup that has maybe 4 or 5 bites. Hate the new packaging too because it condensates when you close the lid so now the chicken is just soggy (unless you order right then and there). Also, I called to pick up an order IN 20 minutes. Which in my head means, make the order closer to pick up time so the customer receives it fresh. Not make it as soon as the customer hangs up and let it sit on the counter until they come in 20 minutes. Which is exactly what happened. All in all, I'm just upset about the quality, price, and quantity of the popcorn chicken. IMO it used to be the best priced thing on the menu, worth the walk or the drive, but now I might have to ever forget my favorite hometown snack because of this experience. Anyway, taro snow and matcha snow never miss order that if you don't know what to get!

Not bad. There aren't many boba options around this area, and this place makes it decent, compared to what's available nearby. They have a ton of artificial flavored powdered drinks but they also have a few smoothie drinks made from real fruit, which is my default option in this situation. The squid balls are good. Can't go wrong. Service was super fast. I'd stop by again if in the area. Oh, forgot to mention. They have free WiFi. That's always the best.

Taro snow and matcha snow. I got the prettiest ones on the menu!
    Vicki F.

Delicious boba with tons of choices and a totally friendly staff. When you order 25% sweet it's the perfect blend of flavor and taste. They apologized for not having mini pearls but the regular pearls were fine and didn't clog the straw. They even let you know the local favorites to help you choose. I'm not an expert but this is good boba!

So many people define themselves as experts. Sadly, many of those same people will walk in and say things like, "Gosh, I'm tired, could you make me a double espresso?", clearly assuming that stronger taste automatically means more caffeine. My wife and I simply like a good coffee in the morning. Which leads to the obvious question: what do we define as "good coffee"? For us, it helps us get into the day, tastes pleasant, and does not leave a bitter note. We are absolutely not coffee experts and can discuss coffee, at best, at what we Germans would call "Thekenniveau" -- bar-counter level. I do understand, however, that it may make a difference whether beans were roasted weeks or even months ago somewhere remote, then shipped and stored, or whether they were roasted locally and recently. So we asked ChatGPT, and one of the recommendations was REGENT Coffee in our neighborhood. We went. Our directive was very clear: we explained that we knew little to nothing about coffee, which was precisely why we had come in and were looking for advice. The lady helping us started with: "Well, it all comes down to the settings of your coffee machine when you pour your espresso." I responded that we are not really espresso drinkers -- we drink Americano. She gave us "the look" and explained that an Americano is espresso with more water. The information: fair enough. The way it was communicated: not ideal if your goal is to win me as a customer. From there, the conversation did not really lead anywhere. We were asked questions such as whether we preferred nutty or fruity coffee. That may be a perfectly reasonable question for someone who already knows what those terms mean in practical taste terms. But we had just told her that we did not. That was the entire reason we were there. We were not looking to prove our coffee knowledge. We were looking for someone who had the expertise to guide us. In the end, we bought an Americano. It was served so hot that my wife burned her mouth in the car, and it took almost the entire 45-minute drive to Santa Monica before it had reached what we considered a comfortable drinking temperature. It cost $5. And we did not even particularly like it. Would I go again? No. Would I recommend REGENT based on this experience? No. What makes this particularly disappointing is that this was a tremendous lost opportunity to turn us into long-term customers. We like expert advice. We drive to Farmers Markets to buy fresh produce knowing full well that we may pay 200% more for something that is perhaps only 15% better. But we can taste the difference, and that makes it worthwhile to us. Coffee could have been exactly the same. If I specialized in coffee, I would make it incredibly easy for people like us to enter that world. I would offer tastings. I would explain, in simple language, what "nutty", "fruity", "chocolatey", "bright", "smooth" or "low acidity" actually mean in the cup. I might offer a short class on how to set up a home coffee machine properly. Maybe even machine-specific sessions. Maybe in the shop. Maybe at the customer's home. Because there are customers walking through the door saying, quite literally: "We know very little. We want advice. We are willing to spend money." And even better from a business perspective: Not just money once. Continuous money. Imagine if the conversation had instead started with: "I totally understand where you are coming from. Coffee can become unnecessarily complicated very quickly. Since you mostly drink Americano and want something smooth rather than bitter, let me give you two small tastes so you can understand the difference. Then I'll recommend one bean to start with." We would almost certainly have bought a bag. Possibly two. And if we had liked them, we might have bought beans there for years. Instead, they sold us one tiny cup for $5 over the counter, while the payment screen suggested an 18-25% tip. And two potentially very loyal customers walked out frustrated. That, to me, is the real business lesson here. It is not about whether REGENT makes good or bad coffee. Taste is subjective. It is about recognizing the customer who is standing right in front of you. Especially when that customer is effectively saying: "Please teach me how to spend more money with you." And then making sure you do not send them home without doing exactly that. Small caffeine footnote: espresso is more concentrated in caffeine per ounce, but a normal serving of drip coffee usually contains more total caffeine than a single espresso because the serving is much larger. Stronger taste does not automatically mean more caffeine.
