Food was great! Probably the top 5 Thai joints in the east valley. Very friendly service but I felt neglected when it came to refilling my drink. My wife loved her doors as well. The outside of the building is a little rough but the food is good enough that we all need to support them and give them enough business to throw on a coat of paint and pretty up the building. Two stars for being very friendly and having Bible verses on the menu, but the ambience is lacking and the food quality falls short as well. They may just have their own unique way of flavoring their food but it's quite different than most Thai restaurants. We called to verify their hours and they said were open till till 9. Then they called us back while we were on the way there to tell us they were closing early. We asked if we could take out and they said yes. When we got there they at least 5 tables that just got food and another table barely ordering. I've been recommended this restaurant by my family and just so happened it was that referring family member's birthday. We went in and the staff recognized my family members and even remembered their favorite rotation of dishes. They seated us very quickly and were quick to start taking our orders. The food arrived very fresh and in a timely fashion. We were able to enjoy the tranquil environment whilst chatting and celebrating the birthday. This place cares about their business, their food quality, and more importantly, their guests. I downloaded this app because I was very impressed with this place and will definitely be returning. You just don't see the personable staff and great service this establishment has anymore in the food industry. Great job! read more

We came here for luncheon and there were tables on the periphery so very much 6 feet apart. The entrees came in take out plastic bowls but spring rolls came on China ..odd for me and a wee bit off putting but perhaps dishwashing a bus staff are unavailable . I had tofu in a peanut sauce on a bed of steamed veggies with. Cup of rice on the side . I've had this fish before and could swear they used a soft tofu instead of the firm but the peanut sauce was awesome. Veggies were Al dente . The sauce was 2/5 hot and it was barely hot at all . I think they have toned down the spice value for the surrounding customers, which is too bad because I like a little heat . If you are partial to a bit of heat , a 4/5 might work for you. The spring rolls looked very fresh and that recipe had not changed. Service was prompt and I have no complaints there . All in all good value for the money but the quality and uniqueness that was their hallmark in prior years was not there. But they still had Pad wooo sen on the menu so next time I'll have that . We have always had excellent food at 5R Cha Thai. We have eaten in as well as home delivery.

Tried the Crying Tiger specialty on last visit and was sorely disappointed. The carrots (allergy) I'd specifically asked to be omitted were included, so the server brought the dish back to just remove the carrots (carrot juice still present in the entree). The server returned with the dish promptly, but then the meat was thoroughly burnt on the bottom, and the kitchen forgot to send out the steamed egg noodles. Showed the burnt meat to the server, who quickly had the order redone, minus the carrots. After all of that, the food tasted sweet to me, and some of the vegetables were still raw. Perhaps the spices contained sugar? Thank goodness I'd requested the special sauce that came with the steak be brought "on the side," because it contained fish sauce, and I'm allergic to all things seafood. (Grew up enjoying food made with fish sauce, but developed food allergies in the early 2000s, officially diagnosed in 2006- shrimp, lobster, and a few white fish included- and I decided to avoid all seafood by late 2018. Yes, wild salmon, CRAB, and seaweed salad, too- boo hoo). This visit also confirmed my suspicion that I cannot have homemade coconut milk ice cream at Thai restaurants... Developed a migraine while at the restaurant, drove home, and felt nauseous for a few hours after. Best way to alleviate nausea is to allow the body to do what it feels like. I then remembered I felt the same way the last time I had homemade coconut ice cream at another restaurant. I don't fault 5 R Cha for the ice cream fiasco. $18 Crying Tiger entree, $3 serving of steamed egg noodles which I had to remind the kitchen I'd ordered, and deteriorating table and chairs haven't made me wish to return in many weeks now. First time here. Came with a lot of family and we ordered many dishes. THANKFULLY we were the only ones there. The waitress was super attentive (how could she not be? lol) but even when I saw she was having her break in the dining room herself, she would get up and assist us when we needed things. Aside from the service, the food was served piping hot and DELICIOUS! Only bad review I would say is is was easily too hot in the room. We order here a long wedding week, after all they were ate I just wanted something simple... soup! So I order off Grubhub for pickup and I order the wonton soup (mild spice) and my husband ordered Thai fried rice. My soup wasn't spicy at all, and hardly had flavor, I had to add seasons and sauces to be able to eat it. The pork dumplings aren't tasty at all I had to take them out the soup and just eat the rest. First time at 5 R Cha I used their online ordering system for a pickup order. I made a big order around 8:30pm. The servers were super friendly and didn't give me any hard time when I arrived 5 mins passed their close time at 9:05pm. Most of their entrées can be made vegan. We really enjoy their dishes especially the Sticky rice with fresh mango. Their Pumpkin Curry is also really good! I put in a special request to put potato in their Pad Thai, usually requests like that seems to get forgotten for take out orders, but 5R Cha was very serious about those little requests. I also love their atmosphere where there is a center decoration piece in their dining area, all the tables are well placed to give customers more personal space compared to other Thai restaurants where the tables are packed so tightly. read more

We have come here a few times now for lunch and dinner. As well as many orders to go. Everything is cooked fresh and it's nice and hot when you get it. The jasmine rice is very good, cooked perfectly. I usually get the yellow curry with shrimp. Sometimes with chicken. We have not yet tried the soup as an entrée. Which is hard to believe. But, the next time I go there, that's what I'm going to try. M got the sweet and sour Thai style chicken. Very good ,also fresh. Huge portions of vegetables in it. We've gotten food to go and they wrap it up nicely. We did get the Crab wontons as well. Lots of cream cheese in them or something similar to it . The lunches are quick and easy with the lower price. Then it comes with rice and egg rolls and soup . Still a lot on the menu we haven't tried yet. But, you know how it is you get wrapped up in your favourite. Went to this restaurant on Sunday march 6th 2022. Had the pineapple fried rice with chicken and was throwing up all night and the whole next day. I have never had food poisoning before then but yeah not a good time. I'd hope that in the future you provide fully cooked food and keep it clean, because that was a rough time. This is decent Thai food. I get takeout from this restaurant every so often and normally get the pad Thai with tofu, pad see ew with shrimp, and the spring rolls with shrimp. The pad Thai with tofu is very good when you get it with mild spice. However, the pad see ew lacks some flavor. The spring rolls are not good. They are bland and lack flavor. Definitely recommend pad Thai with tofu, pad see ew with shrimp is decent, and will not be getting the spring rolls again. I like this place for takeout as the dine in experience is not my favorite. Ambience/service is not great in the restaurant. Pretty expensive for the quality of food but a decent and reliable take out option for Thai food in Arizona. read more

Delicious!!! I've been driving past this restaurant for 2 years and finally tried it for dinner this week. It is clean and spacious. There was a nice crowd for a weeknight. Service was excellent and the server was very kind to help me decide on the level of spicy heat I wanted. I had yellow curry and Tom Kha with chicken. I crave that soup! I will be returning often! Next came the entrees....beef pad Thai and 5-R Cha eggplant. We had no desire for desserts since the members in our party were all satisfied...We had to take back the left-overs. As I write this review, please keep in mind I'm by no means a Thai food expert... This nice little Thai place is on the corner of Mckellips and Recker Rd. At first glance, it may not seem much, but the gem is truly inside.... Decor: I personally love little restaurants that have simple decor. This place has nice booths, couple of tables. They have a little fountain with fake flowers in it. I personally loved it. Food: we ordered the original pad Thai with chicken, orange chicken special, and egg rolls. The food was delicious, and I was beyond surprised on how good it was. The sauce did seem a little bland, but overall really good. Customer Service: Not too much to write about here, she was welcoming at first. Had trouble with English, and trying to work their POS system. Drinks were filled, they were polite. I was satisfied. Overall: I am glad I didn't read and believe some of the reviews here. I throughly enjoyed my dinner at this restaurant and will continue to recommend, and return here another time. read more

I'm the biggest fan of spice there is! From Ghost peppers to the Carolina Reaper, I love the stuff. I have been trying to find the spiciest pad thai in AZ, and was excited to learn they put tofu in theirs. I ordered the spiciest pad thai they have on two separate occasions, and both times I came back home to realize they didn't add ANY spice at all. I asked for the crazy thai hot whatever (Even wrote a note the second time), and came back with noodles that tasted milder than plain rice. Never going here again. read more

I've enjoyed lunch here a couple of times...the yellow curry is quite tasty. I've gotten the "medium" spicy and there is just a slight hint of a burn...I haven't tried it "hot", but I'm sure that would be manageable. The first time I came was with a friend who had never eaten Thai yellow curry...he was really blown away by the taste. Lunch comes with an egg roll, which is pretty standard fare - although I don't remember having one when I have visited Thailand? Maybe we did, I just don't remember. The main dish is plenty for a good lunch without forcing you into an after lunch coma. The building is easy to find, clean and well attended. All in all a very good Thai restaurant. read more
