The first time we ate at Tucked Away It was a regular full-time restaurant. We enjoyed the food with its New Mexican twist. If I remember correctly, the chef studied with Bobby Flay. Much to our dismay, the restaurant was closed to focus on catering. Luckily, though, It reopens for pop-ups. This morning I saw an Instagram post announcing that there would be a brunch pop up today, so we got up and got ready to go. It really is tucked away in the corner of plaza and goodbye Safeway. Inside is a small dining room with a bar, and through the rolling doors is a patio with outdoor seating. You can see the kitchen through the plexiglass divider, and there is bar seating along the divider so you can watch the cooking. There's a great, colorful mural on one wall and some fun lighting fixtures and art. Today's pop up was packed when we arrived. We grabbed the last two chairs which were on the bar overlooking the kitchen. The menu had seven choices. Of course we ordered two different things so we could share, but we skipped cocktails. We ordered: *Steak chilaquiles Christmas style (both red and green chile) served with a side of beans and talked with an egg *Green chili pork hash served with a side of beans talked with an egg Both were delicious! We both ordered scrambled eggs, and I'm pretty sure it was more than an egg. I'm not sure how they cook those eggs but they were the best ever. The pinto beans had green chili in it and was so good. I'm from New Mexico, and these tasted like the beans that you rarely find outside of New Mexico. The steak on my chilaquiles was really good - - thin sliced and tender. I was able to easily cut it with just a butter knife. The pork in the hash was so yummy. What are scrumptious brunch! It was nice to sit overlooking the kitchen, as it was quite a show to watch the chef. I was amazed at how over easy eggs were tossed and caught in the pan without the yolks breaking. Heck, I can't even flip eggs with a spatula without breaking the yolk! Anytime I've overlooked a chef cooking, I'm totally in awe of their amazing skills, and this was no different. Absolutely fabulous food! Was seeking a place to eat while traveling through Mesa back to Scottsdale and luckily we found this place online. The owners and manager were working and treated us like royalty. It's a little hide away you ought not miss. The green chili brisket and salsa was delicious and memorable. Don't scooping out this Tucked Away magical eatery . You really will enjoy the food the ambience and the people. Came here for the first time with some friends and I will be back! Small space, so you can probably expect to have a little wait if you're coming on a popular day/time. Started off with the Desert Flower drink. It might be too sweet for some people's taste, but I liked it. It was slightly effervescent, bright, and fruity. I ended up getting the El Cubano Sandwich and I was happy with my choice! Honestly, the sandwich doesn't look like anything special, but the flavor was great. I'm actually not a very big fan of ham, but I liked the ham in the Cubano. The soft bread with the salty ham, soft pulled pork, freshness from the pickles, and slight nuttiness from the Swiss cheese balanced each other so well. We also got the Asian Sticky Ribs. They were sticky as described! Sweet and flavorful. I also wanted to try the Green Chili Mac and Cheese because the description said it was award winning. It was alright. We came here because of the menus posted on Yelp. The food looked great and we figured it would be a good place for lunch. My heart was set on the Cuban but they didn't have it on the lunch menu :(. The fried Korean chicken looked good though and we got that, eggs Benedict, and a side of Mac n cheese. The restaurant was busy so our food took a while to get to us, when it did, it wasn't hot or warm. We didn't complain though. The food was good and flavorful despite the temperature. The fried chicken sandwich was breaded and seasoned nicely with the Korean sauce. I thought the chicken was well cooked and the slaw had a nice texture with the chicken. The brisket Benedict was tasty as well. I didn't have any issues with the Benedict itself. The breakfast potatoes were good yet soft and not crispy. The fries with the chicken were mostly hard and over fried. The mac I was most excited about since it was noted as award winning. While I thought the flavor and cheesiness was pleasant, I didn't think it was the best Mac I've ever had. Had an awesome experience with our first visit to TACK&B. Given COVID, it was quite empty for a Saturday evening with only a few patrons sitting at the bar. Our party was immediately seated and we quickly had service. Employees were very kind and helpful and good at offering advice regarding the menu. Our group tried the enchiladas with pork, chimichanga with brisket, and the Korean fried chicken sandwiches. Everything was excellent. The brisket in the chimichanga was particularly good with the green chilis. I would definitely say that the red sauce was moderately spicy and may be too spicy for some who can't take the heat . The green sauce was awesome. The Korean chicken sandwiches were as good as they look in the pics. The enchiladas as a large portion and smothered with meat and sauce. Fantastic. I can't resist! What the Tuck?' How have I never been here?! First, I love open air kitchens where you can see your food being made. Truly this is a Kraft kitchen. The place is packed. We ordered the croquettes. Tonight's was mushroom, creamed corn and magic. No clue what was in it but I had to really control myself because I was seriously going to lick the bowl clean. I figured how small the place is and the small kitchen and how packed it was, it would take some time for dinner to arrive. I ordered a side of mac. It had a bunch of chilis in it. Not for the kiddo palate! This is a creamy stove top mac not baked. It was delish. It held us over till entrees arrived. Meanwhile I kept leaning closer to our neighbors...their tacos looked awesome! We ordered enchilada stack with fried eggs and shrimp and grits. Enchilada were sloppy and saucy. Yum! Shrimp and grits were a risk. Who orders seafood in Phx when you've never been to the place before! The shrimp were cooked perfectly. Just the right doneness. The grits tasted awesome. They were slightly thick for my taste but perfect for my wife. Yet I licked the bowl clean. Delish! Summary of Tucked Away? What a little place that put out dishes with such huge flavor. It really is tucked away in a corner. Cute Resto! Small but just right for the area. I felt the food was delish and can't wait to try the other dishes. Prices aren't too bad, about $11-18 a plate. This can be a date or bring the kids place. Good selection of drinks. My husband just had the house lager $5, he said that was good. We will come back again to try more dishes! What an amazing find this amazing restaurant! My fiancée and I decided to give this place a try one weekend and we were so blown away with the food and service from Saad that we went back the following weekend with some family that was in town visiting. Saad remembered us and took such great care of us and our family, the food was fantastic, the ambiance is great but Saad's service is what really elevated the experience for us. We tweaked the enchilada plate with gluten-free options, and what we did to it, we don't have the heart to ever allow the chef to repeat it! The fried rice definitely missed the mark as well. It could've been the type of rice that they used, but it didn't have much flavor and was soggy. What an incredible dining experience! We stopped by this spot the night before our flight out of Phoenix and if anything could convince me to move to AZ it'd be this place. The vibe is funky and fun, the food is delicious and the staff is kind, friendly, funny and engaging. While we had one waitress who was excellent, what I loved most was how the entire staff worked together like a well oiled machine. Someone was constantly stopping by to fill our water, ask how our meal was and chat us up. What a hard working and efficient group of people! When we made a compliment to Sean the manager his first response was "I'll let my team know. They're incredible and I could not do one single thing without them." The noodles were cold which meshed well with the fresh zucchini, peppers, and peanuts but still felt like something was missing. My bf's tuna sandwich was delicious (minus the wasabi sauce...yuck!). It was super easy to place an order on the phone, I even asked a couple quick questions on the call which they were happy to answer. Their menu is interesting .. a number of items with Asian flavors like Asian Sticky Ribs, Bao, Korean Fried Chicken sandwich, etc. and then also some Mexican choices like the Tucked Taco Salad, Chimichanga, and Stacked Enchiladas. Nice to see a diverse menu where everyone can probably find something that they like! We ended up ordering the following two items: Korean Fried Chicken sandwich (fried chicken thigh tossed in gochujang sauce, topped with sweet chile aioli & sweet cabbage slaw on a brioche bun) which came with a side of fries. New Mexico Enchiladas (stacked enchiladas layered with cheddar cheese and smothered in your choice of red or green chile or xmas sauce ... I ordered xmas sauce) which came with rice & beans. The sandwich was tasty, the flavors were spot on ... it did get quite soggy with the slaw on the way home though. So if I got that again for takeout, I would ask them specifically to put the slaw in a separate container, otherwise this might have to be one that's good for dine in. The enchiladas were good as well, also tasty, spot on with on flavors. I was a little surprised by the presentation; I guess it makes sense based on the description, I just haven't seen them this way. There were 2 tortillas filled with cheese, and then topped with chicken and rice and beans. There was a little kick of heat (maybe from the green chile sauce). Overall, yummy and would get again. My husband picked up our order so not much to comment on as far as the restaurant itself. I did notice there were a number of cocktails listed on their menu online so I'd definitely consider dining here one day .. I just prefer takeout for convenience with a little one at home! Came here on a Saturday for lunch. No wait for a table for two. Interesting vibe inside, psychedelic mid century modern decor with reggae music playing in the background. There's table and bar seating inside with patio seating on the way. If you sit at the back bar you can watch them prepare your food in the kitchen. Good service! We got our food in a timely manner and our server was attentive. My Big TaHuna sandwich was delicious! Though I couldn't say the same for my gf's Soba Noodle salad. Whiskey Smash...Oh Boy! So good! Whipped Goat Cheese appetizer, delicious, the toast crispy & the taste...Yum! Ok, I was hungry; so don't judge me, we ordered a lot for the 2 of us. My sister ordered the Fried Chicken and I had a taste. You know how you get chicken that claims to have honey as part of its batter, you get it and you're like, "Honey," nope! This did NOT have that problem. The taste was spot on, you could taste the honey with just the right amount of heat. The potatoes with it, just overall this dish was delicious. I'm going to get it next time I go because it was that good and a taste, was not enough. Xmas Shrimp & Grits. Comes out in a bowl as you can see from the picture and and the taste is just amazing. I think the Cojita cheese melted before I got out there but I couldn't tell either way. It had a nice kick to it from the chili glaze but not so much that it would be uncomfortable for somebody that doesn't like spicy. Great dish and when I would order again.. No complaints on this one either. For obvious reasons I brought half of this home, boy I actually think it was better tasting the following day. Finally, we ordered the Veggie Fried Rice with Sweet Sour Chicken. I have to say the chicken had a little bit more breading than I wanted on it, but it was still very good. Just like the previous dish, it actually tasted better than next day too. Not that it wasn't great the night before; I was so full, I had to bring some home. I had to make myself stop eating it because it was that good.I knew if I kept shoving it in my mouth I was going to be extremely full, to the point of being uncomfortable. I like the big chunky vegetables in it and next time I'm going to order the egg with it; I don't know why I forgot. Overall, this is probably my favorite restaurant that I've been to in probably a year. The food was just delicious, the atmosphere was great, this service was spot on and I just can't tell you how much I appreciated all the food. Cool interior and the food was excellent, better than we anticipated. We were told that it would be a 45 minute wait, so we wandered over to the nearby grocery store, picked up a couple of things and came back to let them know that we decided we didn't want to wait that long. It turned out a LOT of people had finished their meals and we were able to get right in. Our waiter was pleasant and refilled our teas regularly. We ordered an appetizer and a meal for each of us. Good news, the appetizer was fairly prompt and delicious! We only ate a little bit so we would have room for the main dish. The unfortunate part was it took them at least 45 minutes after our appetizer to get our meal. We were going to cancel it when the food came out. I think our food actually came after the restaurant was closed, or very close to it. We each ate a couple of bites, then got a box to take it home. By this point we had been in the restaurant for 1.5 hours, before we received the meal, plus the restaurant was closed. I'm giving it a 5 for the food. After looking at the reviews we had to come check out Tucked Away Craft Kitchen. The restaurant true to its name was tucked in a cozy corner and the vibes inside was very chill. I thought the decor was great and the service staff was wonderful. We ordered two drinks, the Asian bao w/ pork, the cubano, and the Korean fried chicken sandwich. All 3 items were delicious. Though there was a bit of a wait we did not mind it. The drinks are also well worth it! The Asian Bao with Pork has a nice fusion of Mexican/ Asian. The cubano was delicious and meat was extremely tender. The Korean Fried Chicken sandwich was great though we did think it was heavy on the gochuchang marinate it was still delicious. We also had a side order of the Mac and cheese and thought the awards were well deserved! read more

Busy tucked away restaurant in the corner of a strip mall. Food and service were great!

We hit this place because of the Yelp reviews and we where not disappointed. The owner Sean is so personable and made us feel like we were family. He is blessed to have fantastic staff as well Angie was just a delightful girl and Saad was always checking in on us even though it wasn't his table. Ok let's get to the food and drinks OMG. Chef Gabe knows his stuff. Chimichanga was perfect, the rice and beans where fantastic. I paired it with a jalapeño mango margarita. I that I'd died and gone to heaven. Wife had the Mac and cheese with brisket meat, all I hear was mmm in between each bit she took. She loved it! But of course after that incredible meal we had to have dessert wasn't sure it could get better but it did! Love this local spot. We just moved across the street. Vibe is cool, awesome mural on the inside and love the industrial modern vibe. We tried the green Chile Mac 'n cheese (award winning) with chicken. They brought out our mac bowls with some chicken, and told us they'd bring out more they wanted us to not have our food get cold. The manager brought us out a plate of fresh, hot chicken bites for our mac and it was so delicious. We did not even have to ask. Very attentive staff and bartender, we will definitely be back! We went to Tucked Away Craft Kitchen and Bar for dinner. I had checked them out online a couple of times and had them on my list of places to go and eat. I love going to local places and this one is local but also has a New Mexico flair to it..they describe themselves as a fusion of Asian Spanish and New Mexican flavors. They hit that. Service - As we walked in we were greeted and told we could sit anywhere inside or outside. It turns out we were greeted by owner/bartender/collaborator Sean. He came over and took our drink orders and an appetizer order. He was very friendly and outgoing. I asked a couple of questions of him about some of the craft drinks and he had some good suggestions. Throughout the service he stopped to check on things and at the end of the meal he stopped and talked with us for a bit to see how things were. While talking with him we found out he and his co-horts are originally from New Mexico. He gave us a quick background on things and told us they had been open for about 5 months thus far. He was a great guy to talk with and provided wonderful service. Atmosphere - As you walk up you notice that the location fits the name- the restaurant is "tucked away" in the corner of the mall they are in. When you enter you are greeted by an eclectic atmosphere that feels fun and welcoming. I am not sure exactly how to describe it, feels a bit local bar a bit tiki style and a bit cool hangout spot. The best word to me is comfortable. They have both inside and outdoor seating. I like their approach. Value - we each had drinks - I had the Pick Yo Pepper margarita- chipotle style. It was wonderful- a smoky spicy taste along with sweetness of pineapple. I also looked at the Old Bloody Fashioned and will likely try that another visit. We also ordered tucked chips. These are homemade to order and served with horseradish parmesan dijon & roasted red pepper aioli dipping sauces. They were very good and the horseradish was my favorite. I had the stacked enchiladas with chicken and Christmas style sauce and the traditional fried egg on top. The sides are beans and fried rice. Wow, chicken was great. The sauce was spicy but not and it had great flavor. The beans were tasty. I didn't leave anything left on my plate. My wife had the Korean BBQ chicken sandwich. It looked awesome. It was made with fried chicken thigh tossed in gochujang sauce, topped with sweet chile aioli & sweet/spicy cabbage slaw & served on a brioche bun. She left me a little bit to try. I thought the combination of the sauce and slaw was very good. The value is here in spades. The flavors are spot on but also unique. These guys are doing out of the box thinking and cooking. Sean notes they shop daily so everything is fresh - you can taste that in the flavors they are developing. Location - located in the tucked away NE corner of Val Vista & Southern in the Stonebridge Plaza. They are open every day but Monday. Don't go on Monday or you will be disappointed Rating - I will rate Tucked Way on a scale of 1 to 5 chips based on the Tucked Chips we had. I'm going to give them 5 chips. This is a "tucked away" gem in Mesa. I would highly recommend checking them out. read more

After hearing how good this restaurant is we decided to give it a try. The place is super cute and clean, and the staff are very professional. We ordered the green chili brisket enchiladas with rice, beans and egg, fried chicken w/au gratins and a side of mac n cheese. Everything was prepared fresh by chef and served on grandma's china. The mac n cheese had a really nice, spicy flavor and the brisket was fabulous. I much preferred the green sauce over the red (which presented an overpowering taste of mole). It was a little surprising the rice and beans (which were bland) didn't automatically come with the dish. The chicken dish was an interesting combination of flavors - most powerful the sweet from the honey - and the au gratins were pretty tasty but a bit skimpy. It got pretty busy towards the end of our meal and they really could've used another waiter or bartender, although the staff really hustled. Overall, we were actually more impressed with the atmosphere and staff than the food. However, we think we selected menu options that probably weren't exactly right for us so we'll go back and try different dishes next time. read more

It doesn't get any better! FOOD: The food here is amazing. I've been here twice and tried a few different dishes, all of them were 5 star. The one that stands out is their Green Chili Mac & Cheese. Every restaurant these days claims they have the best Mac & cheese, well this place actually does. It's the perfect amount of cheese and spice with perfect pasta. They really nailed it. DRINKS: Also 5 star (especially when Sean the owner makes them) I tried the Beachy Bum which is a rum drink with ginger beer, kind of a Moscow Mule feel to it but better. I also had the Gingered Cuke a vodka drink that's very refreshing with a nice kick to it. SERVICE: The best part about this place! Everyone working there is so friendly and attentive. The owner Sean is awesome and you can tell he's really trying (and succeeding) to make a great little place where everyone feels like family. I've seen some people complaining about it being too small but even when it's full it feels bigger than it is. They're very creative with the seating and soon they will be opening a deck area which is going to be amazing. Honestly I love this place and it's going to become a regular spot for me. Only come here if you want great service and outstanding food & drinks. If you like mediocre food- you will be SO disappointed- they don't have that here. We had some locally brewed beer & a few signature cocktails (Desert Martini was my favorite) then we got The El Cubano & The Korean Fried Chicken plus a side of Green Chili Mac-N-Cheese. I gave chef a round of applause. New favorite place. Can't wait to come back and have another drink served in retro/vintage drink-ware and try the Christmas Enchiladas and the Las Cruces burger! The worst thing about this place is that it's too small and always busy! We were able to get seats within a few minutes on a Friday around 6pm but if we were any later we wouldn't have. It's pretty loud in there so fair warning. We ordered small plates and drinks. The whipped goat cheese was marvelous and light, the Asian sticky ribs were delicious. The tucked chicken bites were a little dry, and the sauces were mediocre, especially the gochuang glaze. I would order everything again except for the bites and anything with that glaze on it. The mac and cheese was great! I like the green chile additions. I want to go back and just eat that. I don't know if it's the best mac and cheese I've ever had but it was up there. Our server was super nice and helpful, he did mention brunch and happy hour which they don't have info on their website about - so definitely a missing marketing opportunity. I highly recommended this location! The prices are very reasonable and the food was delicious. They take there time in food preparation which I love because it's not pre cooked. It's cooked to order! Wow blown away at this place! I may have found a favorite place to eat! Yeah hats off to Tucked Away!! Nice atmosphere and great comfort food! Lots of happy faces on the other customers.
