This place used to be the place to be when you wanted a drink with a great price and awesome music. I just paid $16 for 2 drinks that used to cost me about $10. I can understand charging $2 for an "energy mixer" if it was REAL RedBull or REAL Monster, but it's not. So I paid $7 for well vodka and fake RedBull. I used to pay about $4. This isn't okay. I get it, we all need to make a profit, but the next time I want to have a drink and pay $7 for it, I'll go somewhere that serves real RedBull and Absolut vodka. Sorry... The bar was dead empty but that is kimda to be expected on a monday night so we stayed to see what it was all about. The bartender really didn't greet us and was boderline undfriemdly in his demeanor. We ordered 2 bloody marys he gave us options which was nice but how he asked us what we wanted kinda made us feel dumb and like he really didn't seem confident. We stayed and played pool but only had 2 quarters. We attempted to get 2 more quarters with other change but they apparently do not accept change except quarters (which legally they can't refuse any form of cash payment) so another customer helped us out. I rated this 5 stars, b/c in Reno, in my opinion, this was as good as it could get. WE actually started here...a little bit about my group, 2 men (partners) from Minneapolis, MN, 1 femme from Los Angeles and myself, the last femme from Austin, TX. The drinks were fun, the people got even more fun and the music was mostly like some 80's, 90's, some hip hop and then a couple of top 40 thrown in here and there. We actually started here and then left thinking we could 'up the ante' by finding something more fun but you know what? We came back. It's quite sad that this establishment which would be quite nice if not for the rude trash that are the "bouncers". Firstly I would like to say that the bartenders were nice and being from Manhattan the bar was better than expected though certainly not of big city quality. Unfortunately things took a turn for the worst when my friend asked for a place to find "bud". Immediately without any clarification of what he was referring to was swept up in an unwarranted almost cinematic event which resulted in him being 86ed from the bar. As I was completely sober I approached the bouncer(s) inquiring about what was so wrong about using his first amendment right in a question. I was replied to in a matter similar to that of ill bread vulgar teenage response, complete with profanity and name calling. I did not retort in this matter rather maintaining an even tone and trying to understands the reasoning for this overreaction. When I made my first valid point I was told by the power hungry swine whom I believe Is called "Danielle" that she " doesn't give a fuck what my fucking stupid opinion is" immediately I was shocked as I did not realize that this young lady was not schooled in the subtle nuances of the differences between argument and debate. After I stated that my friend meant no harm however was shocked by the treatment he received I was told I too was no longer welcome and additionally "86ed" for having " a negative attitude". At this point the 10 young professionals and myself all left agreeing that this was not the type of establishment anyone gay or straight should be associated with due to an insatiable need for power amongst the " bouncers" or people who are not attractive or personable enough to be accrual bartenders. If you are from a big city like LA, NYC, or SF. I don't mind coming here. I'm not really huge into dancing, but I have friends who love to dance and this is a great place to go to dance and have a good time without really getting bothered by people who just want to hook up. I like the environment of the bar, it gives off a fun and chill vibe. I don't mind hanging out there and having a good time which I generally do. I just get frustrated by the service. The DJ's are awesome and play some great mixes. I am the type of person who likes to chill at the bar with a drink in hand which you are able to do here, but I am not sure if it is something about me or what but I have a hard time getting any bartenders' attention at this place every time I come. A bartender will go down the line to the person next to me and then back to the other end of the bar. They will acknowledge people who have just barely walked up but I tend to get ignored, I wonder if it helps to know the bartender? I was there the other night and waited for 10 or so minutes (but felt like more) before I was able to get my first (and only) drink and in all honesty she didn't take the order from me, she noticed my friend come up to the bar and went straight to her completely ignoring me and that's how I got my drink. I tried to pay, and she didn't even look my way, it took a few before she realized I was handing her a card. . I would have ordered more but I'd rather not sit and wait 10 minutes at a bar for drink when I could be having fun. Apparently, I am just not any of the bartenders' type... The only reason they get a 3 out of 5 is because of that. It is a bar and I expect to be able to drink. It's one thing if they are so slammed that they are slow getting to people in general, but when they are taking care of the front line fairly quickly and they keep just breezing by you....that's frustrating. If I was there just to dance and not care about drinking they would get a 4 rating from me. Please don't let my 3 stars discourage you from going here though. Never been to Reno. Made the mistake of coming here. The place is a dump. Looks like an old homeless bar with very cheap and worn decor. It was also way too bright in there. Friday night was more women then men, probably 3:1 ratio. The guy customers weren't bad looking but lots of smoking. Then they had a women dancer dancing on the bar. Not the place to go if you want to be surrounded by available men. $5 cover no big deal but they should put the money to good use. read more

We stopped in here Friday night on our own self designed pub crawl, based mostly on other yelper's reviews. We found it to be a laid back place to grab a couple of cold beers. While we're not of the same persuasion as the regular crowd, it was still an interesting visit, full of energy and people watching opportunities. I don't know about the one negative post below claiming that this wasn't a "real" gay bar. Now granted, I don't have much gay bar experience, but seeing the two dudes spooning one another while standing at the bar, was certainly gay enough for me. Not knocking them mind you, I knew what it was going in. The dress code for many seemed to be a combo funk/grunge, which they seemed to pull off. There were some fashion surprises, at least to me. Until that night, I had no clue that fuscia colored jeans were even available for men. Interesting as that was, if I were to give a gay fashion award, it would have to go to the guy wearing the "Tea Bag" tee-shirt. Across the top of his shirt read "I've been tea bagged", then running down his shirt was a list of ten or twelve locations. I simply had no idea that there were so many locations a young dude would choose to drink tea. Would we go back? I would always end up here every weekend I would go out. The party never seems to stop! It's kinda icky, so don't expect a classy joint! The people are usually cool, except the occasional crappy bouncer at the door who thinks it's her own personal hangout. The DJ refuses requests and is kinda scary actually. I'd say about 3.5 stars. This night had alot of walking around cause we initially started at Divine for the $4 you call it so we'd get nice and drunk before we hit up Würk. We showed up at Divine about... 10ish and it was dead. group of girls walked out and i exchanged words with one of the party and continued in to find out me and the 2 girls i'm with were the only ones left lol. But we got our drinks and I found out my new favorite "Sex on the Beach" after sipping from an adios motherfucker and a long island iced tea my night was picking up and Divine was starting to regulate to it's usual populace. We decided we'd go to Würk then and get to dancing the rest of the night. I think it was about 11, but Würk was dead. the guy at the door said something about people would get here soon as the superbowl crowds showed up (and he was true to his word, we swung by to get back to the car later that night around 2 am and the place was packed but the music wasn't as trance as the week before and more hip hop). So we were debating on whether going back to divine when I remembered a friend told me he passed up on tronix to go to five star and we had passed them along the way sooo what the hell why not? if i remember correctly we might have gone back to divine before we went to five star saloon cause i recall another sex on the beach... though that could have been later that night :D and somewhere we went by this place and i got a chocolate cake? i don't recall but it had a hint of a coffee aroma to it.. delicious. But back to five star, music was alright but nothing near to what Würk had us jamming to the week before and even Divine's music was more upbeat but Five had the crowd. Place was packed and they had it all. Easy to fall in love with the crowd here and some of the dancers definitely left an impression on us. There was one butch-bish hypocrite there that kind of put a rank on my night but otherwise the dancing was alright. Bathroom lines were astronomically long though, seemed to be normal to see 10+ people waiting to use the 2 bathrooms. Might be faster to run to another joint and come back lol. Side note there was a random middle aged woman who kept on stealing me away from my girlfriend so keep in mind that the atmosphere here is definitely on the fringe! There is a 5 dollar cover but its worth it. I'd give the place 4 stars but the place to me depends solely on the people that are there and for me to enjoy it it'll have to be pretty packed as well. i didn't get a drink there so if the other reviews are true that they lace you up right, that'll def boost my stars. After a short walk, my roommate and I arrived at the 5 Star Saloon. This was our first time there. We arrived very early and the place was empty. We chatted with staff and bartenders and also ordered a tiny bit of food from the small yet sufficent menu before it got very crowded. The staff, security & bartenders were all very professional. We sat, relaxed and enjoyed the music before the place got crowded. The music the staff played prior to the DJ arriving was spot-on and perfect for setting the mood, exactly the type of music we listen to. After the DJ arrived the music selection was appropriate and perfect for the setting. As the evening went on the place got more crowded, became very Lively and fun. We didn't really move around much, just sat and relaxed. We were able to meet and chat with several people that were very friendly. We got multiple friendly visits from staff to make sure things were going well and even several enjoyable visits with Todd the owner as the night went on. Overall we had a fantastic evening and a very fun time meeting people, The drinks we're also very fairly priced. Overall we had an excellent experience and plan on being regulars here. Thank you Todd and Eliza for providing and keeping up a safe, relaxing, and overall fun place to hang out and relax. Excellent bar to go into! Great energy anytime day or night. The bartenders are friendly and know how to make a good drink. Late nights on the weekends are lots of fun if you like to dance or just sit at the bar and make new friends.
