They promptly evaluated the transmission and charged around $250 (refundable if I did the work there) for the diagnostic. Their recommendation was a rebuilt transmission. No problem. I shopped around and had it done for $1500 less than the All Cities quote. I didn't do an online aftermarket purchase. The business I went to installed a Chevrolet certified reman transmission with a 3 year warranty (same as All City) that was direct from Chevy.

I was not told about the fee until after they were done with my car. I told them I was not expecting this because I didn't ask for it & they didn't show any care or seem apologetic about it. Poor customer service & unethical business practices. I've been here multiple times, but will not be coming back. A $250 charge is a lot of money to not inform your customer of until after the fact. While the more extensive check was good, I did not need it nor did I ask for it. I would've gone somewhere else if I had known about the hefty charge.

This problem had already been diagnosed by a technician that wasn't comfortable doing the work so we took it to aamco. Aamco said, it wasn't actually the transmission, that the problem was that we needed a new battery & alternator, that those two things would fix the problems we were having. $1,300 later with a new battery and alternator-guess what! the problems were still there. we brought it back to Aamco where they then diagnosed it with the original problem we knew it had. they wanted 5k plus to fix it and didn't offer to reimburse us the $1,300 spent just a week prior. Totally unprofessional and unacceptable.

It took a couple of weeks for me to get my car back from when I first took it to State Transmissions. I was moving to Seattle and was waiting for my car to be fixed. Then the transmission blew.... it was supposed to have been rebuilt with new parts and be just like new! No..... not the case. I called State Transmissions to tell them the problem and the fight began. They wanted to take no responsibility, luckily my dad does know about cars and they towed it back in to fix it again..... This went on a couple of times before I finally went to AAMCO for a second opinion. They took a look at my car and found nothing but problems. They saved everything and showed us the parts that State Transmission had used. They were old parts that had been cut or shaved to fit back into my car. They had been telling us they were putting in new parts and I was sure paying for new parts! My car never ended up running the same again, it broke down so I finally had to get rid of it. I basically had to junk it. When I tried to get my money back all the owner did was lie lie lie!!!!! I turned him in to the better business bureau and he lied to them!!!! This car I had never ever had problems until the owner of State Transmissions worked on it. I have heard this from many other people, that they have had the same dealings with him. I just wish I would have heard it sooner! So please do not waste your money or time....... or chance of ruining your car!!!!!

There are several reasons you should go here: 1) They are inexpensive compared to the other auto repair services around. 2) The job is done right. 3) They have options for you. They don't just insist on one kind of brake rotor, but let you decide how much you want to spend. 4) You can make an appointment online. While you are at their website be sure to read the reviews that are posted there. A couple of quick stories. We were on our way out of town to go camping when my Land Cruiser started acting up. I took it in. 1 1/2 hours later they called us to tell us my car was ready. It needed an ignition coil. They saved our trip! I take it in they then said my front rotors were warped and my steering wheel was shaking... they charged me $1517 for 4 brake pads and rotors. Didn't list OEM parts or anything. This place is a gouge worse than dealership prices. Stay far away. They straight up robbed me. I'll be reporting them to the attorney general and BBB.
