From Chicago, first time at 54th Street with my daughter. Here are my thots: -I knew I was going to like this place when I walked in and saw their Blues Brothers statues. -Feels like a community hang out with well above average food options. 54th has a large menu--with just about anything you can imagine. -I opted for a burger. She had her back to one side of the bar, talking to a twosome of regulars, who had the tv changed to the channel they requested and who routinely shouted out about the refs of the game. 54th Street used to be a higher end Chili's. Now, I lowkey think Chili's has better food than 54th. We hadn't been here since they remodeled/re-named, and they've definitely gone downhill. The atmosphere was still charming, sure, and the service wasn't terrible. We weren't very happy with our waitress, she was friendly at first but she gave us the check only 5 minutes after she brought our food! We felt quite rushed. The food was bleh. My Chicken Finger Platter was way too salty, the fries were limp as well. The Baked Beans were the only decent side, they were surprisingly spicy. My Aunt enjoyed her Chicken Avocado Grille, though. My wife and I had late lunch and can compliment the restaurant for good quality and price. Our server must be new (every body is new at some point in life). Two of us only one menu? Ordered blacken chicken salad and didn't get blackened chicken salad but it was delicious just not what I ordered. After receiving our order he was no longer coming back to do refills. The food was very good but he forgot the order of union rings but we got his attention and he did a good job of getting them to us promptly. It's my own fault, I ordered a med rare steak at a non steak house, an hour after I ordered for take out I asked about my food and it had been sitting back there, I know that because my food was room temp. I got home and I got a few veggies, and over cooked steak. $30! I think the menu said I was supposed to get a salad, that was not included if it was supposed to be there. Haven't had 54th in a while so hubby and I decided to venture out and grab some nachos. We opted to grab our food to go and head back home. The process of ordering our food online was quick and easy. Once we arrived, there are several parking spot on the side of the building labeled with signs for Togo orders. When we pulled into the spot, there was a young man already outside delivering food to another vehicle. He immediately came over to get our name and retrieved our food. We were in and out in about 5 minutes. Te food itself was fine. Nothing spectacular about it. It's typical bar style food. The chips were crunchy, there were plenty of toppings and the serving size is enough to feed like 2-3 people. My only complaint is there's never enough queso. Pretty exceptional place. I can't say I have many complaints. Our table was greeted instantly, and our waitress was so down to earth. Or, down to serve. Whatever. Service was nice, but please do expect the long wait time. They do not have enough staff, so it is not their fault. Spacious room, lots of tables for everyone and a good amount of space for waiting. Cutlery still had food stains which wasn't good and table wasn't the cleanest. Like I said, they do not have enough staff. Good variety of items on the menu, and definietly tasty. I did also order the buffalo chicken salad and the rattlesnake pasta, but there's no photo. You know why? I ate it all. Boy was it delicous! Perfectly seasoned and sooo creamy. I showed up with 5 others. We did not have reservations before we arrived. They told us it would take them a few minutes to get the table together. There weren't many full tables when we got seated. It was about 15 minutes after arriving. The server came over about 5 minutes later to take our drink order. She came back 10 minutes later to take our food order and stated if our bar drinks weren't ready they would be in 5 minutes. I'm pretty sure it was more than 5 more minutes before she delivered them. I got mediocre wings, my brother didn't like his gyro, my son got chicken strips and said they weren't good, my mom got soup and a quesadilla and said it was good. My sister sent her quesadilla back and got soup but then didn't like that either. Our server wasn't very attentive and it looked like she was training someone. I won't be back because even though the food wasn't great and the service was mediocre the other patrons were kind of obnoxious. We had Sunday dinner after a movie at 54th Street. A convenient walk across the parking lot from Ronnie's Cinema. My husband and I chose the Meal for 2 which we thought was a great bargain for $39. For the appetizer we picked the fried pickles which were amazing (and very filling!). For the entrees, my husband picked the avocado chicken sandwich with loaded baked potato . I choose the veggie scratch burger with asparagus side. The food was delicious. For dessert we got the salted caramel brownie with ice cream. So rich and chocolaty. Atticus was our server and he was very polite and attentive. Kept the drinks coming and stopped by the table several times to make sure we were happy with our meal. The portion sizes match up to the menu options. MASSIVE. I almost always break and get the nachos, which could realistically feed 2-3 people but that hasn't stopped me. They're very customizable too. The best time to go is their happy hour. They have a huge variety of appetizers 50% off and a decent drink list to choose from. Honestly apps and drinks is a great way to go here. I recommend trying the Gringo dip at some point through your meal. My favorite way to eat it is with waffle fries and as my side dish, but go for it as an appetizer or as a dip on the side. It's delicious. Also go for the Tater Kegs (with gringo dip and sour cream on the side) They are little puffs of cheesy, potatoe-y goodness. The service is fine, nothing to rave about, but I've always had a decent experience. The bar is easier to get a table at, but be ready to wait for service because the bartenders are super slammed. It's a very casual space so feel free to come dressed up or dressed down. This is a decent spot to go for Happy hour, or dinner, or late night munchies. I mean, it was alright for our first time, it's what you'd expect from a chain bar and grill restaurant. Once you've seen one you've seen them all. There was nothing special or totally off the wall amazing about our experience. We went on a wednesday early evening and there was a 15 minute wait. They took down our phone information in order to text when a table was ready. The first thing I noticed was the sign that gratuity is automatically added for parties of four or more. That really boils my shit. I can understand a big group of eight or more but four people? I hope those people look closely at their bill before leaving additional gratuity, of which I'm sure there is a specific line for. We were seated shortly after and it wasn't too long before the server came to take drink orders. She had a trainee and both were very nice. We started with the calamari and we will not be getting it again. It was bland and just felt cheap. I got the steak and ribs which is a flat iron steak with a half rack of ribs with a side of mashed potato. The steak was ordered medium. My tablemate ordered the chicken fried chicken, mashed potatoes and roasted brussel sprouts. It wasn't too long of a wait especially considering most of the tables were filled. To quickly sum up the food, the ribs were nice and probably the best thing ordered in everything, the flat iron steak was somewhat dry and over cooked. The mashed potatoes were good, creamed and covered with gravy. The chicken was good but somewhat lacking in seasoning. The roasted brussel sprouts were.....well, look at the picture. They didn't scream "roasted" to me. Not much else of note. Like I said, typical chain bar and grill. Cover your eyes and get food from here, Applebee's, and Chili's, you won't be able to tell the difference. Will we go back? Possibly. Is it something not to be missed? Not really. Immediately my experience was put off since the host with bangs and glasses had an attitude. We were waiting for a while and we were supposed to get a text to tell us when our table was ready and not on deck. i have came here 3 times in the last 2 months. the first time i came here i ordered a smash burger with no cheese and a gf bun. It came out perfectly and no problems. but the last 2 other times i have came here i have had to send back the burger because it came with cheese on it. This is a restaurant chain so your experience can vary from location to location and year to year. All of my visits have been to this location in Ronnie's Plaza. I like both their Chicken fried steak and the chicken version. Today I wanted something I had not tried before so I ordered the Jambalaya. This was at 4:30 on a Saturday afternoon and customers were waiting for tables. I was surprised to be served after only a 20 minute wait. It was served in a large bowl with 2 pieces of Texas toast. It was hot from the kitchen. It is not the best Jambalaya I've ever eaten BUT it is pretty darned good! It had lots of Shrimp, chicken and chorizo in it. It was spicy but not to the point where you could not taste the different proteins. For an entree costing less than $20 the dish is very good. I will return. read more

I called and spoke with the general manager, Trav, who claimed that's how it's supposed to be and mentioned that he made it himself. He also said there was nothing he could do to fix the issue. The inconsistency in the Thai Noodle Salad last night brought it all home. We ordered one with beef and one with chicken. The salad was good with the exception of a substitution of limp spaghetti noodles in one and no noodles in the other! In the past, this salad had small crunchy oriental noodles that added to the quality of the dish. Inconsistency is never good, as evidenced by the crab cakes that were originally two (and delicious) to one medium sized, tepid, and at the two cakes price! The South County 54th Scratch Grill & Bar, located at 5310 Lindbergh Blvd., offers good, healthy food at attractive prices in a family-friendly venue. Nutrition and health are important to me; hence, I usually avoid eateries in which wholesome eating is not an option. Happily, the menu at this restaurant accommodates, with a variety of salads, green vegetables, and clean protein on offer. I had the chicken club salad, which includes grilled chicken, avocado, carrots, cucumbers, and a variety of greens. Tastes great, too. Like Three Kings Public House, 54th Street is located in Ronnie's Plaza. This might be a small detractor for some people, as the plaza looks a little long-in-the-tooth, with some inexpensive consignment shops and medical labs. Also, the parking lot could use a little work, with too many potholes. However, the restaurant itself is lively, with decor that includes a ceiling-mounted dragster (minus its engine), numerous model airplanes, and even an ornamental elephant (not real). Seating accommodations are casual and spacious, and the wait staff is efficient and friendly. One word of warning -- I need to reiterate that this place is *very family friendly*. For some folks, tables full of *loudly* exuberant children might be off putting. Still, this was lunch; evening might be different. Bottom line -- this is a good place for a healthy meal without spending too much. Feel free to bring the kids. read more
