My craving of pho came to an end when I visited this spot.... It was AMAZING! The flavors were all there in both the 5 Spice Special Pho and Beef Pho. The broth had the perfect amount of flavor and went well with the addition of siracha, lime and mint added. I think overall you cannot go wrong in visiting this pho spot and grabbing soup on a cold day or when you are craving soup. For the price of the items, you get a great amount. Ordered shrimp spring rolls and the house pho. House pho comes with boneless spicy beef flank. The spring rolls were really good. Folded well, and their peanut sauce is thick and flavorful. They do a pickled veggie in there, I would have preferred a fresh veggie versus pickled. Beef flank pho was bomb. This is some of the best pho I've had. The broth is killer! The notes of Chinese five spice is so delicious. The chunks of brisket-like short rib is falling apart tender and super savory. Just melts in your mouth. There's so much on this affordable menu I'd like to try it's a shame I don't live in this neighborhood, I can promise you I'd be here all the time. Cute interior with plenty of seating, friendly waitresses and fresh mint sprigs in the water. The music is contemporary and a bit louder than your average pho spot (think Drake, Jhené Aiko, Chris Brown). The cups were very dirty and I needed to ask for another set repeatedly. Our food came out pretty quickly, much to our delight. We ordered the chicken dumplings, the rib pho, the chicken pho, and split a banh mi. The food was pretty average, nothing that was outstanding. The dumplings were flavorful and moist and came on a bed of lettuce. Their highly acclaimed rib pho broth wasn't as flavorful and rich as I expected it to be. The more subtle chicken pho was much tastier and savory. The banh mi was the most disappointing. There was a lack luster of equally distributed spicy mayo and the bread was very dry. It's a super small and cozy. When we sat down, I over heard the table next to me mention the service was bad. We experienced different. There was only three girls running the whole floor and they were very attentive. We ordered there spring rolls, banh xeo tacos (pork chop, and chopped pork with shrimp). WOW. You know a pho spot is good when you can smell the spices and aroma fill the air as you walk into the restaurant. I've eaten pho my whole life growing up so I know when a bowl of pho is good. The soup was rich and flavorful without being heavy. I could tell they did not use msg or a lot of sodium because my throat wasn't parched. The noodles were cooked perfectly, not under or over cooked. They also gave plenty of meat which was a pleasant surprise! I think you definitely get a bang for your buck and it was a nice Yelp find. I went here after a trip to the Barclays Center down the street. I liked the casual and relaxed aesthetic the place had. Seating was mostly stools, one wall was exposed brick and warm lighting came from lamps hanging overhead. I especially liked the hidden bathroom that was hidden behind a shelf. I wasn't as big a fan of the food. I had the banh mi and the shrimp summer rolls. The banh mi was good but I've had better. The bread had a satisfying crunch and the ingredients were tasty enough, but I didn't really taste the Marrow Mayo Pâté much. The smoked meats sounded like an interesting take on the classic banh mi but I found that I much prefer more traditional fillings. I wish there was just a bit more cilantro in my sandwich as well. I know it sounds like I hated the sandwich, but that's not the case. It was a solid sandwich, but not my favorite. The summer rolls were pretty standard. I'm not the best judge of them because I don't particularly care for shrimp. I split them with my cousin whom I was dining with. They seemed to be fresh though, I'll give them that. All in all a solid meal, but perhaps I ordered the wrong thing. Perhaps I'd come back before or after a Nets game. I'd try their pho or perhaps a different banh mi.
