I love the food and atmosphere of this restaurant. This is one of my go-to spots when a friend is visiting. I would rate 5 stars, however, the service I've had here is really hit or miss. I've had great service and I've had terrible service where our waitress only checked on us once and had disappeared into the back for almost the entirety of our dining. Also, one of the times I came in, the waiter was wearing flip flops, which really puts a bad taste in my mouth when it comes to food service. Okay it saddens me to update this review to be lower.... we haven't been to the new 5th and wine location so we decided it's been too long and to go check it out. Well we come in and it's a nice looking spot and much more spacious so we were impressed. We get a menu. A very unoriginal menu compared to what they used to serve during Saturday brunch. We order anyways, and out comes our food.... does not look as appetizing as before but whatever, this place used to taste amazing. I eat my food and I'm underwhelmed. Tastes like something I could have whipped up at home (biscuit and gravy) the biscuit was huge and semi dry, the gravy was nothing special nor had depth in flavor. The potatoes are even different from before. NOTHING like the quality of food we had when it was winesbywednesdays. Husband had the huevos rancheros, something he had before from here and it tasted like store bought chili on top of tortillas. A giant amount of chili. Do yourself a favor and don't order that. I'd still rather eat my biscuit and gravy. For the quality of food they now serve, it shouldn't be the same price as it was before. I was so disappointed and doubt we'll be going back unless they find a chef as good as their old one. We might give dinner a try in Hope's it's still good but brunch was not anywhere near where it used to be. Something is amiss here. Great location and atmosphere, but I found the prices somewhat too high for the quantity served. A $$$ priced restaurant really should offer a nice menu laminated and fancier, instead of a sheet of common paper, and the bill to be paid at the table should come in a folder (whatever they're called) and not a paper slip later on the table (which is etiquette to take it to the register on the way out). The $10 bread appetizer exceeds the price point x 2. The $21 "appetizer sized" meals seem priced about $6 over their value. The $27 bottle of wine.... well it shouldn't be sold for that. I'm always looking for good places to takes friends and family visiting from out of town. It will likely be elsewhere. On a good note, the recorded music selection was excellent, but even that won't bring me back. Meal quality was very tasty. read more

Definitely a hidden gem. Great food and atmosphere. The restaurant opened at 5pm and the wine list has limited options. We got a bottle of white from the wine shop, and with $10 opening fee, the lady chilled the wine for us and served it at the restaurant. We ordered tuna as starter, half pan roast chicken and pasta. We were surprised by the quality of the food, they were great, exceed expectation. I was impressed by the pasta, it was proper Italian, it was one of the best I've tried in the States. Wines let me host a surprise wedding celebration for my buddy who got married! They were extremely accomnodating and let us set up decorations and a cake. They even helped do the set up. Went there for the first time last night and it was excellent. Food was great and they have an excellent wine selection. Have to give it to the head chef because that Salmon was some of the best we've had. I would highly recommend coming here and trying it for yourself. When I read all the previous reviews I was very excited to visit this place! It's a restaurant inside of a wine shop! Boy was I disappointed! Do not visit this place if you're claustrophobic! It's pretty clear the restaurant is growing much faster than the owners anticipated because they have tables and chairs crammed into every available space possible. Upon walking in we were not greeted or even acknowledged. My husband and I stood there awkwardly for about 7 minutes before one of the waiters walked by and pushed a menu into our hands without so much as a word. Finally one of the ladies came over and asked if we would like a drink (we still hadn't been seated at this point or even told if/when a table would be available) she then went and started to clear a table for us. We order our food, get our water, no problem. Then we wait...and wait....and wait....Now, I can understand a wait if it's a large restaurant and packed full to the brim, but there couldn't have been more than 25 people in this place and over half already had their meals. 40 minutes later we get our food. My husband and I both ordered the "Chefs choice meat" steak. Basically that means whatever the heck the chef decided to buy that week is whatcha get. The steak itself was delicious; when I could finally get past the gristle and fat that is. Tasty, but not worth $30 bucks a piece. Halfway through our meal we ran out of water and never got a refill despite several attempts at grabbing any of the waitstaff's attention. Overall the atmosphere was a bit stuck up. My husband and I have never felt so unwelcome and uncomfortable during a dining experience. We will NOT be returning. read more

First time to Great Falls and a coworker took me out to eat here. This place is ON POINT! Had the most amazing chicken salad sandwich on the most delicious buttery croissant with a killer pasta salad to go with. Was fortunate enough to meet the owner (Mark) and could tell he's an owner that truly cares about his restaurant and the quality of the food they offer. We came here for our anniversary dinner and were not disappointed at all. We had fresh crab cakes, seafood pasta, and caramel bread pudding just to name a few. We came when an event was going so the service and food came out very slow BUT the waitress was apologetic and gave us two drinks on the house. Overall one of the best meals we've had in Great Falls. I am not one who usually leaves less than 5 star reviews, but our last visit to 5th and Wine was disappointing to say the least. At first they brought us luke warm coffee, which wasn't a big deal because the server offered to get us fresh cups (most likely it was from the day before) but then he charged us for the fresh cups as well as the cold cups. He forgot to bring cream and sugar along with the coffee so we had to go up to the bar and ask for them ourselves. The food took longer than usual to come, but we were happy to chill and talk while we waited (I think they had a new chef so it was understandable). But then our brunch came and we were less than thrilled. Our $14 pancakes were so tiny and thin (like, thinner than crepes) and were cold. They were supposed to be "huckleberry pancakes" but there were no actual huckleberries in them, just a side of what maybe was huckleberry jam? For $14 I would expect much bigger or at least for it to come with eggs or meat or something? Not just three tiny flat pancakes on a plate. Overall, weird experience and not consistent with our previous visits at all. It ended up being over $40 for a small breakfast sandwich, three little pancakes, and 2 (cold) coffees with one set of refills. We will still go back again because we are hopeful it was just a fluke day and that they were getting back on their feet after the pandemic, usually we love coming for brunch! read more

We recently had an open house catered by 5th and Wine that was so well done that we followed it by going to the restaurant for dinner the same evening. Mark, Tara and the team at 5th and Wine are wonderful. we were treated extremely well by every member of the team. The catering service they provided was a hit from the incredible food and wine to excellent customer service they provided. A wonderful experience all the way through. We then went to the restaurant for dinner where the wonderful experience continued. The building is steeped in local history and takes you back to simpler times the moment you enter. The cuisine is the best I can recall enjoying in Great Falls. The staff is polite, courteous, attentive and fun to be around. We have found our new home to enjoy great food, great company and just relax with an excellent glass of wine. Truly a hidden Gem in Great Falls that needs to be experienced to be fully appreciated. Discovered this cozy restaurant with a wine shop and deli attached. We sat outside enjoying the last bit of warm weather. The staff was attentive and knowledgeable. They have a very complete wine list and bottle prices seem reasonable. The wine shop has an excellent selection of modestly priced ($10-$30/bottle) wines from many different regions including a great selection. From Italy, Oregon and California. They also have expensive wines if you're up for it. We enjoyed a delicious late brunch of grilled shrimp salad and a sirloin Benedict that was fantastic. If you're looking for a nice dinner, their menu looked delicious and we were kind of sorry we didn't arrive for dinner. Highly recommend! read more

The wine was wonderful. Without a doubt. 2 thumbs up. Let me be clear on that. I came to this establishment looking for a few glasses of wine and tasty food to unwind after work. I've lived in NorCal, Denver, ATL and Phoenix. I have been to dozens of wine bars/restaurants across the country so I feel I am a fair judge of establishments in the US. The upstairs was packed with a party and was so loud I could barely think straight. I sat at a table and was greeted by a female hostess who was very friendly and gave me a menu. Minutes later the waiter came over and asked me to move seats. He said I was seated at a table for 4 and since I was alone I could not sit there. He directed me to a bar in the corner that faces a solid black wall. Felt very uncomfortable with my back to the entire place and nothing in-front of me except a black wall. I started looking at the wine list and instead of asking or offering suggestions he told me if I needed time he would be back. I picked a good wine off the list (very tasty) and ordered the bread with balsamic vinegar/olive oil and also the cheese board. The entire time over one hour, the table I originally picked sat empty. Why he forced me to move tables, I have no idea. He said they get busy on Tuesday's, well it's still empty an hour later. The cheese/meat board was decent and the same with the bread/balsamic/oil. The customer service was poor. Not sure I'd come back. As I pay my bill and leave, my original table is still sitting empty. Ruined my dining experience facing a solid black wall with my back to the room. Didn't feel comfortable at all. Waiter shuffling around in flip flops didn't help the atmosphere either. read more

This would be a five star restaurant in any city, and it is a true stand out amongst the other Great Falls offerings. I was tempted to have every meal of my weekend here once I discovered it. Their wine selection is also top notch. Very boutique and worldly. I'm not a member of their wine club as I don't live in town but I imagine they do an exceptional job presenting delicious and unique wines to their wine club customers. Had a fantastic meal here the other night- could have been eating in the finest Manhattan restaurant. The chef (Matt, I believe) is Cordon Bleu and CIA-trained and it shows. The food, the wine, the service and the atmosphere are a religious experience, that's how good it is. I have visited an additional ten times and am not going back because YOU CANT GET A TABLE. Ate there today for the first time, but it won't be the last. The "grilled cheese sandwich" was filled with a couple of different cheeses (none of which were Velveeta or American cheese) and the bread was crisp and buttery. The chips had a orangey oil drizzled over them which really set them apart from your average chip. The tomato soup was thick, delicious, and the balsamic vinegar drizzled over the top was a nice touch. The atmosphere was relaxed, the music was soothing, and the surroundings were pleasant.
