My husband heard great things about this restaurant from a friend. He drove about a half hour to pick up take out. Their menu is a fusion of Indian and Chinese dishes so we were excited to try them out. Their chicken corn soup was not what I was used to. The eggs were chunky instead of in velvety ribbons. The soup was a bit spicy and had carrots and pre-cooked chicken. The chicken fried rice also had spices we were not expecting. They also used cut up, breaded, fried chicken in it. It felt like rice mixed with the various cooked ingredients instead of a dish comprising of building flavors and frying the ingredients together. It did not feel like a cohesive dish. We had lamb samosas, yellow dal, butter chicken and goat masala. The dal was very watery and lacked the aromatic flavors I am accustomed to. I felt like i was eating runny yellow mashed potatoes. The butter chicken was creamy and sweet. The goat masala has more spice, and came with a rich sauce. I was ok with the level of spice with the mild options, but my husband thought it was too much for him. We ordered plain paratha, butter naan, and garlic naan. The breads were a great vehicle to enjoy the gravies and the tamarind sauce. Keep in mind that one order is just that - one flatbread cut in half. We will stick to our local spots.

We stopped in on our journey to find some new places. They had a lunch buffet with several Vegan options. Th Naan was so fresh and delicious. We also tried the Mango Lassie. Everything was really good and authentic. They have a full bar and swap out some of the buffet options weekly. The service was friendly and the staff were helpful. The restaurant was not too busy but had a steady flow of customers with plenty of tables for seating.

One of the best Indian buffets I had in the state of Florida. They offer multiple items in the buffet. I have never seen any place offer kulchha parotha, puri, warm gulab jamun, chicken 65, mango ice cream, and many more things. This place got it all. They have plenty of seatings. I would go back again. Price is reasonable compared to any other Indian restaurants in the area. Paid $21/ person.

Saw this place on Yelp getting good reviews, so I thought I would try it with my friend for dinner on Sunday. The menu was extensive and seems like they cook to order. I ordered the Malai Kofta, a vegetarian dumpling dish with an almond and cream sauce. I asked for mild spiciness. They gave me a generous portion with a bowl of rice. It was delicious, but had more of a medium amount of spiciness than mild. My friend ordered a goat dish, and although it tasted good, it was bone-in chunks of meat with excessive bones. She had to ask for another dish, which the restaurant graciously obliged and she got the lamb which was boneless. She enjoyed that. She ordered a garlic naan, and we shared it, it was very tasty and not overly garlicky. The service at the place was responsive and the atmosphere was casual but nice and roomy. I definitely would want to come her again and maybe try the lunch buffet to try the some dishes that I am not familiar with, but would like to get familiar with.

I have been craving Indian for a while, and I love buffets because you can sample foods that you may be hesitant to try as a whole entree. This place had the best variety I've ever encountered in an Indian buffet - pakora, dhal, biryani, tikka masala, paneer and more. A great selection of chutneys as well! The seating is comfy and vast. Bathrooms were pretty clean and well maintained. They have chai tea included with the buffet and also mango soft serve, which was a delicious end to our meal. Staff were great about clearing away used plates quickly. For approximately $21 per person this is a great place to sample different Indian fare. Be mindful, some of the dishes are spicy (and delicious) - my party enjoyed the chili chicken. I was also a fan of the chicken tikka masala! They play Bollywood music and play the station on television, which I found quite entertaining.

Masala Dosa

Ever since I started keeping a list of restaurants in Broward that I wanted to try, 5th Element has been at the top. I don't get to Broward often, so what a treat that it was my friend's birthday, she wanted Indian food, and we were going to a show in the area! The stars aligned to make this a special night for all of us! What I really like about 5th Element is that it was items that I haven't seen at other Indian restaurants. Even though we stuck to dishes that we know that we absolutely love, I am excited to return (for the buffet maybe?) to go deeper into the menu. The masala dosa came out first - humungous as it always is, with three distinct but delicious sauces. The dosa was crispy around the edges and soft and filled with potatoes in the middle. The malai kofta, one of my all-time favorite Indian dishes, married a creamy sauce (not too heavy though) and the kofta, dense balls, with spices that sung together and yet if you closed your eyes, you could taste each one on their own. I love when that happens in a dish. We also opted for saag paneer, garlic naan, and vegetable biriani. Each were excellent versions of dishes my friends and I enjoy a lot. For three people, this was a huge amount of food, but it was a special night, and we wouldn't have it any other way.

Kulfi dessert, we think? Looks more like...

I'm here right now trying to figure a way to escape the madness I'm witnessing. First of all, they don't use salt. That alone. Enough said. Very disappointing visit. First and last. But maybe they should open an ice cream truck. It's the only thing they got going for them that stands out.

Mostly consistent Indian food. The buffet doesn't vary as much but usually they deliver solid offerings that are tasty and spicy enough.

I requested for "hot" with my briyani, and they did not disappoint. If you like your food spicy, and can handle be heat, go for the HOT. The samosas were decent size, and packed with flavor and tender chunks of potato, and veg, the 2 chutney's that come with it are very delicious, but having the samosas without the sauces are just as great. What I love is they sent a single piece of gulab manoon, which is a sweet, "donut like" very soft and aromatic Indian dessert. It was delicious, and it was such a surprise. Definitely hands down one of the best paces I've experienced yet for Indian cuisine.

Service is always fast and friendly, and you can either dine in or take it to go. When you walk in, you order at the counter. They've got the hot food station right there with options displayed behind the counter so you can see exactly what you're getting (dangerous in the best way lol). Some items -- like the rotis and fry bakes -- are cooked fresh when you order. Then there's the fresh doubles station, where they assemble your doubles right in front of you. I've stopped in plenty of times before, but these past two weeks I was deep in my Trini breakfast cravings, so I went twice and tried two different classics. First visit: I got a fry bake with all the things -- baigan choka (grilled, mashed, seasoned/spiced eggplant), tomato choka (grilled, mashed, seasoned/spiced tomatoes, fried aloo (potatoes), buljol (shredded saltfish with tomatoes, onion, peppers done the Trini way), and smoked herring sautéed with Trini herbs. The breakfast usually comes with the fry bake or sada roti and 2-3 sides... but listen! Everything looked too good, so I ordered extra sides. And I'm glad I did. It was flavorful, comforting, and honestly reminded me of my mom's home cooking. A real-deal Trini breakfast. Second visit: I went back for the bake and shark -- because if it's on the menu, I'm ordering it. Another iconic Trini classic street food, cooked fresh when you order. The fry bake was soft and fluffy, stuffed with perfectly fried shark, and topped with a nicely seasoned lettuce/coleslaw-style mix. Great size, super satisfying, and absolutely hit the spot. And yes -- I always ask for their in-house hot pepper sauce. They make it fresh daily and it has a serious spicy kick (the kind Trinis appreciate). Even though I went for breakfast, everything in the hot food station looked so good that I couldn't leave without grabbing boneless curry chicken with paratha roti to take home for later. They also have a bone-in chicken option, because some of us Trinis need the bone for full flavor, okay lol but I got boneless. I've had their paratha before -- soft, fluffy, and perfect for soaking up curry. Their curries are always well-seasoned and full of flavor. By the register, they sell traditional Trini snacks and sweets -- things like kurma, chocolates, and fudge. I grabbed the fudge this time and whew... it was rich, creamy, and dangerously good. Like "why did I not buy two?" good. You do get 4 fudge squares in the pack. All in all, I honestly can't say enough good things about this place. I've never had a bad meal here, and I'll absolutely keep making the drive whenever my Trini cravings hit again. Tabanka stays delivering
