Love this little spot! We stumbled upon it while on a walk and thoroughly enjoyed it. While we were waiting in line, a woman told us "we just discovered this place yesterday and we're already back. Everything is good!" She was right! We got smoothies, coffee and a sandwich and it was all phemomenal. Everyone was so friendly and the service was quick. For lunch today, I decided to try 600 East Cafe. So many of their items sounded amazing, it was very difficult to chose what I wanted! I place my order online using their website, which was very easy to do. They offer extensive options for extra protein/veggies/cheese/etc for what seemed like nearly every menu item. The cafe is located on the northwest corner of Wisconsin and Jackson and easy to find. The dining room is closed (due to Covid restrictions) but they have a walkup window that faces Jackson. I rang the bell and a very nice employee appeared almost immediately. From what I could see, it looked really welcoming and cozy inside. If it wasn't for COVID-19, I'm sure this cafe would be very busy from open (9am) to close (2pm) with employees of all of the large office buildings nearby. I decided to go with the Apple Spinach Salad: granny smith apples, pecans, dried cranberries, spinach, I nixed the blue cheese and opted for feta, and balsamic vinaigrette. The presentation of the salad - despite it being to go and driving it home - was superb! After I took my last bite I realized I should have taken a photo. All of the ingredients were so tasteful and fresh, and it was a fairly large portion that has kept me full all day. I got a "Build Your Own Breakfast Sandwich" for my husband. There were so many options for breads (different types of bagels, various tortillas, English muffin, gluten free bread), cheese, and unlimited veggies for you to create your own epic breakfast sandwich. You can even chose if you would prefer egg whites. My husband said it was "amazing!" I would definitely like to order again, maybe trying a "build your own" option. Other than breakfast sandwiches, you can build your own sandwich, salad, and wrap. I want to try other menu items before I say "5 stars" but I would say 4.5 for my visit experience :) It was an easy, quick drive from Shorewood and I definitely recommend if you are looking to try a new place for breakfast/brunch/lunch. read more

A couple of order mishaps on my two visits this year, but the food is still solid. I had the Roast Beef Mushroom Melt on my first visit this year. A friend doesn't eat pork so she gave me the bacon from her Chipotle Chicken (which I also really like) and I added it to my sandwich. I should always do that! It was so good, but still would have been good without the bacon. It's normally served on Rye, but I asked for a hoagie roll instead. I didn't take a pic since what I ate is not how it is normally served. On my second visit, they forgot to make and bring my friend's sandwich. There were only two sandwiches on the order. They brought it to her, and it wasn't what she expected based on the name and description of the Chicken Caprese special. It was heavy on the pesto. The sandwich description mentioned pesto, but if Caprese is the name, we expected balsamic to play a role and the pesto to be barely noticeable (although pesto does not belong on Caprese anything). It was also served open faced with equal portions on each side of the ciabatta. She didn't even know how to begin eating it. It needed a knife and fork. She went back and explained her concerns, and they were kind enough to offer her another sandwich and not charge for it. So, customer service gets 5 stars for addressing multiple issues to try and make the customer happy. My Hot Ham and Cheese sandwich was good, but does not compare to the other delicious sandwiches I've had in the past so I'll skip it going forward. We also ordered the chicken and dumpling soup, which we both loved. Besides the Signature sandwiches, wraps, and salads, you can also build your own sandwich or salad, and they have breakfast sandwiches too. Everything on the lunch menu is under $10. Good food, right price! I got the breakfast sandwich (build your own) for $5.25 and a black coffee. Delicious! Atmosphere is very nice. Soft music, not too loud, perfect for studying and chatting. The staff is sooo nice! Very friendly and great to talk to. Try and find street parking instead of parking in the lot because it's much cheaper. read more

I'm going to give 3 stars since my experience with this place has been pretty middle of the road. It's convenient during work since it's extremely close and has a decent array to choose from. However, their breakfast selection could be better and, overall, their prices are high for the quality of food you get. The reg coffee selection rotates between local roasters Anodyne, Colectivo, and Stone Creek. Decently priced. They'll fill your travel cup. I've had the Roast Beef Italiano which was good. I'd order it again. The turkey pesto was also good. The cranberry turkey wrap was kind of a let down. I did try and enjoy the pecan chopped chicken salad though. The staff has been very friendly every time I've come in here. I ordered a mocha once and it tasted burnt so I never ordered another one. The place is really cool on the inside and could totally be even better if they revamped the menu. read more

I got the Chipotle Chicken sandwich and the turtle mocha for a nice side refreshment to my food. The customer service is magnificent. Everyone was so nice, had a smile the whole entire time and honestly seemed like they were happy to help you with your order. They don't have a huge menu but the things they do have so far seem great. After you place your order they come to your table to bring out the order. So far an absolute great experience and since I work nearby I'll definitely be back for future lunch occasions. read more

This place is terrible. The coffee is bad, the food is bad and is way overpriced. I was in a hurry one day, and waited TWENTY FIVE minutes for a grilled cheese they charged me $6.79 for. This grilled cheese was awful. The cheese wasn't even melted (see photo) and it was cold with dry crust (how does one mess up a grilled cheese??!!) I also ordered a latte, which the "barista" couldn't even make correctly. Very disappointed & won't be back. They get two stars for being clean and a nice design of the store. read more

I have never had a bad experience here. The salads are may favorite - large and packed with all types of goodies depending on which one you order. In particular, it is hard to keep myself from ordering anything different from the Southwest Chicken Salad just because it is SO GOOD. I also enjoy the Roast Beef Italiano hot sandwich from time to time. The beef is tender, sandwich moist, and peppers crisp. It is a great combo of flavors, especially for the price. An exciting lunchtime addition to East Wisconsin Ave, the 600 Cafe serves salads, wraps, and sandwiches in a trendy, open, clean space. The drink machine is way cool offering a large selection of sodas (or pops) through a single dispenser with a touch screen. The food is fresh and well prepared. Pleasant place inside, looks like a great place to grab a coffee...However, I stopped there for lunch, and chose the Chipotle Chicken Sandwich. The sandwich was $8.49, and in order to get the combo I had to pay another $2.39 for chips and a ridiculously small soda... Staff was friendly and the food came out quickly, but the chicken breast was a little fatty and the food was definitely not worth almost $12...Hopefully they adjust their prices and expand their menu a bit and I'll be back. read more

I think 600 East Cafe would make a great place for a casual meeting or semi-quiet lunch because even though there were a lot of patrons in the dining room, the sound was just background murmuring and you could hear yourself think. Also, they have sidewalk seating available during nice weather. My first time in I had the Italian salad which was piled with toppings: ham, salami, fresh mozz, peppers, sundried tomatoes...the thin bacon didn't really live up to rest of toppings but with all the other ingredients it didn't really matter. On my next visit I ordered what I thought was a sandwich special, the cashew chicken salad, but upon ordering I was told that it was actually a salad. OK, I'm game. The salad again had tons of ingredients, all arranged in their own sections in the container, and while the cashews paired with seasoned chicken, red onions, greens, shredded white cheese, cucumbers, tomatoes and more paired with french dressing seemed like a somewhat random combination, it was very enjoyable to me. read more

I was in town on an overnight at the Pfister for work. After taking in the sights in and around Veterans Park, I was looking for a late lunch. Even though I didn't look at the times on the window and they at been closed for 45 mins, the folks at 600 EAST Cafe opened up their window and took my order. Stopped in a week or two after they opened and was very impressed with my Chipotle Chicken Sandwich. Great bread, fairly quick service and nice atmosphere. It's a great addition to the east side of downtown. I like that they have outdoor tables as well. read more

My Soy latte was absolutely horrible, I couldn't even drink it. So it went straight to the garbage, they need to work on their espresso pulls... because what I received was crap! Service is hit and miss, and they're randomly closed without warning or signage around holidays (like today, July 5th, for example). Their J'Mochas are quite tasty as are their baked goods, but I've had to return a drink more than once, and the fact that you have to pay for parking only to find it randomly closed makes me not want to chance it. When they're open, the basics are reliable, and they're usually decently friendly. read more

Food is overpriced for what you get (i.e., sandwich without a side for $9). My meatball sub was luke warm on the outside and cold on the inside. My mom's grilled BLT was also under done, with the outside of the bread not crispy at all. I've been meaning to update my review for quite sometime, but was encouraged to do so by the feed back I got from my coworkers when we met after work for drinks today. I've personally stopped coming here because the baristas they have don't know how to make a proper espresso drink (and in my opinion don't qualify for the title), so I switched to just plain black coffee but half the time it's burnt tasting & cold by the time I get it to my desk. I know it's not the roaster because I'm a regular at both Anodyne and Colectivo in Milwaukee. So I make it a point to stop at Anodyne before I get to work, or brew my own Anodyne coffee in the morning. They have no idea what they're doing here. It's been an on going joke on our floor "what's 600 East out of today". More then 75% of the time someone's order in our office is botched up or pathetic looking. Anything you can think of, our office has experienced; horrible cappuccinos & lattes, cold soup, the wrong order, overcharged transactions, lopsided sandwiches, missing ingredients, rude service... And being told what their payment method will be?!?!! Are you serious, how can you even keep a business running this way. If my floor of 36 ppl has experienced ALL of these deficiencies I can't imagine how many people in the Downtown Milwaukee business district have come across such dreadful service. In all honesty 1 star is being nice. I don't believe in giving bad reviews like this, but after the conversations I had with my coworkers this evening I was disgusted! Cafe 600 has a indoor mall Orange Julius feel which is very counter to other coffee shops in the area. As a cafe, I expected the coffee to be good. The Barista claimed it was Colectivo mild roast. Coffee was old and burnt and weak. I had a carrot raisin muffin of unknown origin but was bitter and slimy. I leave it at two stars since this cafe has not much other competition and I appreciated it being within walking distance if the art museum. I think there are a lot of better options a few more blocks west, though. Probably ok if you have the kids in the stroller and need a restroom. read more

The folks at 600 East Café catered the perfect brunch for the day after our daughter's wedding. The café is normally open only during the M - F work week, but it opened just for our weekend party - so we had the entire café to ourselves. Working with manager Jill Ruffing was great. She was very helpful during the planning, and then was on-site during the event to make sure everything ran smoothly. We received many compliments on the delicious food. Some thoughtful touches: to-go containers were provided so that guests who had to catch morning flights could take food with them, and the platters were labeled so that people with food preferences could select what they wished. The atmosphere was comfortable and fun. 600 East Café is an easy walk from the downtown hotels. Compared with the hotels, the cost was more reasonable and the menu options were better. read more

We recently had a buffet brunch at the end of our son's wedding weekend at 600East. We were very pleased with both the service and food. Jill was extremely accommodating and easy to work with. The sandwiches, breakfast burritos and baked goods were all very good and the space is very pleasing with big windows looking out at gorgeous historic buildings. It was definitely more reasonable than a brunch at the nearby hotels. Our experience was great! read more
