A decent Vietnamese restaurant in downtown Milwaukee. I've been to much better places and so if this is the only option then go and get a decent meal. It's a much better meal than McDonalds but if you can get to a place with a much larger Vietnamese population you will see the difference in quality. So if you got a hankering for Pho and can't elsewhere this will definitely scratch that itch.

This is the ONLY pho spot I have found in MKE so far that consistently has great pho. This was my second time here and the broth is so flavorful. They have to know it's amazing because they literally sell just the broth as a $5 add on to their meal. I had the pork vermicelli noodles and my fiancée had the beef and meatball pho. I was trying something different and while it was delicious, I kept wanting her pho but she made it so spicy I couldn't eat it. The vermicelli is great and both were more than enough portions. For the shrimp spring rolls, we loved the size and the dipping sauce. However, I almost wish the sauce was built into the rolls because it is really hard to dip them one they are open coz the noodles fall out. Did I mention their coffee (Vietnamese) is amazing? Definitely helped keep me awake after dinner for a bit. I love this place so much--I can't wait to go back!

As I'm half Vietnamese, I always geek out when I see there's a Vietnamese restaurant. We were in Milwaukee for the weekend and decided to grab food here the first night we stayed. We ordered 2 banh mi, one house special and the other the grilled pork. We also ordered 2 Thai iced tea and an order of spring rolls. When we ordered, we ordered online, and for some reason it was pushed to the next day. But we called and the staff quickly rectified it and we were able to pick up our food the same night. As far as the foods, I think my favorite was the Thai iced tea and the spring rolls. Unfortunately, my husband and I found the banh mis to be a bit hard, and rather sour in flavor which is not what we're used to. Overall the staff was great, it was not for me, but when in the area I may come by and try their pho in person. Also note that on the weekend, they do ID at night. The night we came they had a karaoke party going on.

Also good food, usually get it to go a lot and the meat is already in the pho and cooked. When you order online be cautious about the time, it usually takes a little longer than stated but it's always fresh and hot then. Inside is a nice place to sit and enjoy your meal. They have plenty of tables and a counter bar.

Came for the pho. Heard the broth was rich and flavorful. It was really good. Great portions. Inside decor is cute and it was fun that they had karaoke set up. Even the staff sang some songs and they were really good. Would come back for food for sure!

I came here for a party, for a build your own pho bar, plus egg rolls and banh mi sandwiches! We were a large party, service was excellent. I think our group mostly took over the restaurant. The food is authentic Vietnamese, and something for everyone. Great location and Vietnamese food. I'd like to go again and try more. :)

This restaurant is small but cute and clean! Came in on a Thursday night around 5pm, no wait and only customers. The banh mi was not anything special, too much bread and not enough fillings. The pho was decent, broth was pretty flavorful and good base, on the sweeter side. They definitely skimped out on the noodles and side veggies/toppings (was given approximately 3 individual leaves of basil). I do want to try their appetizers so I will be back but there is definitely better pho in the MKE area, but this does satisfy the initial craving. If it weren't a block away from me, I would skip it.

One of my favorite pho spots in the city!! A must especially when it's cold outside to get delicious food in your belly! I would also recommend the bbq pork spring rolls.

Update is that Xankia has BY A HUGE MARGIN the best Pho in the Milwaukee area. Everything else is also excellent: Egg rolls, pork buns, bahn mi, stir-fries. And zero complaints about service. Have now been there over a dozen times.

Amazing place. The first Vietnamese restaurant I tried while in Wisconsin and I'm a huge fan! It's so cute in here and the pho was so delicious. Service was excellent. I will definitely be coming back again.

The only crime here is that this place isn't a chain and it's miles away from me. Our waitress was amazing, the vibes were perfect, everything felt intentional in the best way. Most of those spots only open for dinner, so I was thrilled to find that Bavette La Boucherie now serves lunch. My friend, a local, told me the restaurant originally began as a butcher shop. While that's no longer the case, the space still pays tribute to its roots -- shelves lined with kitchen knick-knacks, butcher-block counters, and a display of local provisions that hint at its past. Chef-owner Karen Bell leads the way here, and you can feel her touch throughout -- from the creative menu to the casual-elegant vibe. The décor blends exposed brick and warm wood with soft light and a friendly hum from the open kitchen. Our server, Matthew R., had only been with Bavette a couple of weeks, but his background in restaurant management showed. He was knowledgeable, attentive, and offered great suggestions. Before our sandwiches arrived, we shared a cup of pork and tomatillo pozole topped with cabbage slaw and a dollop of sour cream. It was piping hot, bright, and deeply flavorful -- the kind of starter that makes you stop talking for a minute just to enjoy the next spoonful. Having read rave reviews of the Korean steak au jus, I nearly ordered it, but Matthew suggested the roast-beef with cheddar since I'm not a big lunch eater. Excellent call. The sandwich was divine -- tender, flavorful beef layered with melted cheddar on a crisp, perfectly toasted roll. The beef-fat fries had great depth of flavor, though I'd love them even more if they were twice-cooked for that extra crunch. Being more of a gin or vodka drinker, I couldn't resist the Gin Old Fashioned on the cocktail list. It was delicious -- smooth, aromatic, and balanced enough that I happily ordered a second. Great food, warm service, and a welcoming atmosphere. Bavette La Boucherie is a gem I can't wait to revisit.

We quite literally came here straight from the airport. To make matters worse, we had not eaten anything substantial all day and had actually looked this restaurant up weeks before our trip while researching places to eat the infamous Wisconsin fish fry, so we were really looking forward to the experience. The experience started off poorly when our party was essentially scolded by the hostess for sitting at a table that apparently needed to be cleaned for the wait list. To make matters worse, the busser laughed and joked that we were "in trouble," to which I could only respond, "Sounds like it." Not exactly the welcoming atmosphere you'd hope for as a first time visitor. The fish fry was decent our tab came out to $150 for 5 people, but the service was absolutely subpar and our tip reflected that. We also had to send back two drink glasses because they were dirty one still had lipstick on it, and another had food stuck to the inside of the glass. Overall, this was a very disappointing dining experience. Between the unprofessional treatment, lackluster service, and cleanliness issues, I would not recommend stopping here. There are plenty of other restaurants worth trying instead.

I ordered the LP Burger with bacon ($14 + $2.5 - double smash, sharp american cheese, shredded lettuce, fresh tomato, shaved red onion, LP sauce, potato roll) and my wife ordered the Potato Chip Crusted Chicken Sammy ($12 - honey mop glaze, mayo, shredded lettuce and pickles). The bar has a fair amount of good bourbons and at decent prices for being in the deer district, such as the double neat pour of Stagg I had. There was one bartender/server for the place, but she knew how to hustle while still being super friendly. The interior could use some art on the walls, but is bright and clean otherwise. The food was delicious and presented very well. That bacon I paid extra for? Oh my goodness. Thick cut, perfectly cooked, so dang good. Usually I regret adding bacon but here it is a must. My 8-year-old kiddo, who is practically a vegetarian at this point, devoured her grilled cheese and half of the big bowl of soup. I never even saw my wife's chicken sammy, so you know it was good when it goes down that fast. Thankfully as our food arrived the place started to fill, as they deserve to be filled!
