The company is responsible for the worst customer service experience of my life. I hired them for a simple pool opening service. The expectation was that they would remove the cover and winterization, install the ladder and add chemicals to get the pool ready for use. I work from home and they arrived without notifying me or even knocking on the door so I never even got to meet the technicians. Then after less than an hour of work they disappeared. No notice or even a text that they would be back to finish the job. The pool cover was removed and in a pile next to my pool and many of the bolt fasters were left up as a tripping hazard despite the bag for the cover being left out. The ladder wasn't installed and it didn't look like any chemicals were added to the pool. Later that evening they charged my credit card the full amount for the service, $380 and then I get an email from them saying that our pool pump is busted and needs to be replaced and they gave a quote of over $2000 to fix it. I replied that I thought that was very expensive and that while it's understandable they did not complete the service that I hired them for, that I should not have been charged the full amount. By their own estimates for a service call and labor for the time there were here I offered to pay them $165 for their time and asked to be refunded the difference. They came back and said that they went into the next 15 min. increment and that the best they could do was $215. At this point they are wanting to $215 for ~30 minutes of work and the only thing done is they removed the cover. Due to them ignoring my very reasonable offer to pay them $165 for very little work, I contacted my credit card and had them reverse the charges. Now that got their attention! I got a very nasty email about how they were going to sue me and will need to pay $1000s for their lawyers and that I was being ridiculous because they didn't fold up my pool cover nice enough. It was condescending, mean, and extremely unprofessional. Honestly, the guy seems unhinged and could have done so many things to resolve this situation. But now he's accusing me of trying to get services for free and threating legal action. The "service" that was done was actually a disservice because now I had an open pool without an operable pump which caused a nasty algae problem in my pool and I had to screw down the bolts they left up, put away the cover, install the ladder and figure out how to get this thing fixed. I ended up buying the same or possibly better pump than they recommended and did most of the install myself and then had a licensed plumber and electrician come out and inspect the work which ended up costing ~$1300 all in. So I finally got my pool up and running but no thanks to 614 Pools. Also, they ended up whining and lying to the credit card company saying they did the work and had the full charges reinstated on my account. This company is the WORST pool company I've ever encountered and by far the worst customer service I've had in my life. I've never been threatened to be sued or treated this way by any other company for what should have been a straightforward service call. DO NOT HIRE THEM! Other random details: They claim they didn't install the ladder because a rubber stopper was missing. But they didn't even knock on the door and ask me or look in the pool shed where it had fallen off. While the quote for the replacement pump was high, but really upset me about it was that they implied that I would need to have them do it for them to come out and complete the original service. This could have all been prevented if anyone would have reached out to me and treated me with respect. Prices are high in these "troubling times" I get it, but they could have offered me options instead of bullying me into paying them more money. They acted like there was only one pump option and I had to have them do it. At no point did anyone call me or talk to me in person from this company. They only sent emails and made no effort to offer even a bare minimum level of customer service. read more

I gave this place a fair shot and they can't get it together. I had them come out and open my pool. Initially, I felt really good about them and their service. I had asked that they return every 2 weeks to check and balance chemicals. I would take care of all the cleaning, vacuuming, brushing, etc. They sent me a quote for $55. I signed the quote and this is where the problems began. I had a pool party on Saturday, 6/6/20. The pool water became cloudy and the pool appeared to have sand or dirt at the bottom. I called 614 pools and asked that they come out to take a look. On 6/10/20, they come out and added chemicals to it. I asked if the tech if he thought the sand in the filter needed changed as I just bought the house and I don't know when it was last changed. Plus, all my research has shown that if there's sand in the bottom of the pool, it needs changed. The tech told me no, it doesn't need changed (without evening checking the sand). He said it hardly needs changed so that's likely not the problem. Fast forward to a few days later and the pool looks worse. On 6/17/20, I call and tell them it's not any better and inquire AGAIN if it could be the sand. I'm told they can send a tech out that day and that they will check chemicals and actually open the filter to see if the sand needs changed. They told me I will not be charged a service call since whatever they did on the 10th clearly didn't work. On the 17th, they tell me to add clarifier and wait 48 hours. If that doesn't work, the sand *may* need changed. Meanwhile, the pool is looking worse and worse. I decide to change the sand myself since they quoted me $450 to change it. I was also told one lateral is $100. I get on amazon and order a completely new lateral assembly for $75. Sand is $45 total for what I need. Obviously, they're incredibly overpriced. I change the sand on 6/25/20. On 6/26/20, they come out to balance chemicals again. Before they arrived, the pool had already cleared up just from the sand change. Yesterday, I receive a bill for $247.51. They immediately withdraw it from my checking account. They combined both trips from the 17th and the 26th into one bill. On top of that, they charge me a $75 service call on the 17th (which I was told I wouldn't be charged). I was quoted $55 for the service but was charged $75 for some reason. On TOP of that, they charge a $45 service call fee that's snuck into fine print if you don't have repeated service scheduled. So even though I was quoted $55 for the service, it actually ends up being $100 PLUS the extremely overpriced chemicals. This place is real sneaky with their pricing and requires you have a credit card on file to book an appt. After they complete the appt, they charge your card whatever they feel is appropriate and whenever they want. I was charged 3 different amounts for 3 different appointments I've had with them (even though I was quoted $55). I'm cancelling all further appointments. This has been a terrible headache. I've attached screenshots of the different charges I've incurred for the same services on 3 different occasions. Update: I did speak with them and was refunded $20. I was a customer for over 3 years. I had a problem with the heater of my pool for over 3 years. They send you someone who suggest new heater exchanger and you pay over $2000 and then one week later you realize that the problem is not solved. Then they suggest it's something else then you say ok fix it and they charge you another $1000 and then a week later it's something else then it's another $1000 and then the thing they replaced is damaged because the second thing was suppose to be done before the first thing. Then they charge you again not only for the thing that did not last a week but also the labor again to replace it again. The worst service company I ever experienced in my life. No respect for themselves as craftsmen or for their customers. The time I spent on the service is more than the time I was able to use the pool. Stay away. read more

As Christy said before, they seem to be vastly overcharging. $45 for a call out for about 10 minutes and then crazy prices for the chemicals. Also, very disappointed with the service. We paid to clean the gunk off the walls and it's still there. Apparently this is 'tough stains' so it's a whole different thing/price. Total scammers!! read more

I am an old man with a leak...in my pool. As a previous, satisfied customer, I called 614 Pools for help. Six phone calls, one e-mail written request, hundreds of lost gallons of pool water and 10 days [TEN] later, I was informed they were too busy and I should call someone else. I have used Mike and his technicians for many years. They are extremely professional and knowledgeable. They have replaced my pump, installed my automatic chlorinator, an amazing winter cover etc etc! Having owned a pool for 36 years they certainly aren't the first pool company I've used but they are undoubtedly the best!! read more

Very unprofessional. I called to set up a time for them to repair my pool heater and The girl over the phone was new and hadn't been trained very well (which is understandable) so she asked me call back in the morning. Fine. I get the appointment set up for the following Tuesday and put my deposit down. Tuesday comes and goes and I don't hear anything and clearly nothings been done. There was some bad weather so I assume they got delayed. Fine. On Wednesday I get home from work at 4. STILL nothing. So I finally call them and Dolores, the "customer service" lady gives me a sob story about how their poor technicians work out of their van and that's why no one at the company is able to communicate to their customers that they are, in effect, unable to keep the appointments after readily accepting the deposit. They offered no apology and apparently think it is normal practice not to take 1 minute to make a phone call when they fail for consecutive days to do what you paid them for. Terrible. Negative Stars! UNETHICAL BUSINESS PRACTICES. Overcharged all of the time, tried to be sneaky about it. I was quoted $45 for a 20 min basic visit, and in contract said they would use my chemicals. They resisted every time and when they occasionally did, I was still charged for their chemicals. My pool was drained this year and in great shape. -One visit they charged me $110 in chemicals when 1/2 of what they used was mine. Charged for my 14 Chlorine tabs... for 1 visit , seriously! -Emptied my pool into our stocked pond instead of a ravine. Thank God I caught it in time. I had to explain that a pond is an ecosystem with living things in it and around it...DUGH!!! -They were replacing our sand to our filter and broke a part, didn't bother to call, just replaced it and overcharged us for the part. When I found it for 1/2 the price I talked to Mike and he lowered their overinflated retail price. Wondering if income -Just received a "padded" bill for July 2018, I wrote an email to Mike and instead of working with me, his email response was a bill increase and said he undercharged us for something so our bill was now $80 more. Plus our $45 dollar weekly service visit will now be $75. He couldn't explain any of the false charges and overcharges, no sorry, NOTHING! They want to charge near $1000 to open the pool!!!! When called to speak with them about bill and how they can't just come whenever they want then charge we were hung up on. This was a conversation with no foul language and valid points being made and their solution was "well we charged you" and then hung up! Will be taking further action! read more
