Last Friday we had a very enjoyable girls night out happy hour at 618. Our server Matt couldn't have been more helpful, accommodating and friendly. He really helped make our evening an enjoyable one. He always made sure our drinks were filled and we had everything we needed/wanted. The only thing we all would say that was a negative, is that the selection of happy hour appetizers should have been more robust. The selection was a little skimpy. I visited here last Saturday with my sister and cousin to celebrate my cousin's birthday. We had such an amazing time! The food and drinks were DELICIOUS!!! And we had such a wonderful server, he gave us recommendations on what to order and was really knowledgeable about the food and drinks. We had the short rib ravioli as the appetizer, my sister also had it for her main course while my cousin and I had the Angry Shrimp and Pasta. For drinks, I had the "Figgy smalls", my sister had the white peach sangria and my cousin had the blood orange jalapeño Margarita. For dessert, he had the homemade ice cream cookie sandwiches and I had the chocolate decadence (which was chocolate mousse). Mediocre food nice setting inside. The Burrata is more mozzarella. The short rib pasta (I heard about before coming) heavy and way too large and stick too ur ribs. The branzino was ok but the fish was too small and way too thin. Need a bigger branzino to serve.. The crowd was very upscale with a nice setting but if you take that away ur left with a mediocre restaurant. I did not have desert. I would return for setting. The bar scene was fun. She made our first experience here truly wonderful! The ambiance was beautiful, and although we felt like the tables were a little close, we had no other complaints. Didn't take any picture of the food because it was all too good and we couldn't wait. Phone did not eat first here !!! We got the butternut squash ravioli app, the stuffed poblano, and shishito peppers as our apps (all 10/10 but I liked the ravioli the best). For our entrees we got the angry shrimp and pasta, and I got the halibut but added the red curry from the salmon and YUM!!! Drinks, food, service... everything was superb. 618 is always 5 stars. Been here multiple times and it gets better and better. Got the crab cakes as an app 5/5 all fresh crab meat and perfectly cooked. For dinner my go to has always been the shrimp and grits but recently I started trying the specials and have been hooked. This is my second time having the halibut and just like the theme it's gotten better and better :) fresh, light, flavorful.. portion size was perfect. For dessert I had the waffles and ice cream.. no explanation needed. There's a reason this is the #1 rated restaurant in freehold. Keep it up 618. read more

I was first confused because this restaurant is listed as a venue but upon arriving I found a full fledged dining area with a venue out of site. The food was well balanced and delicious. My only complaint is I wish that it never ran out. Definitely try the shrimp and grits. Don't pass up on the short rib ravioli. You will be mad at yourself for not trying the pork belly. And finally, bring at least 5 people so you can sample almost all of the entrees because everything is delicious. I definitely recommend getting dessert as well because they are a perfect ending. Had reservations at 715 on a Saturday and they seemed backed up however super accommodating. We didn't get seated until 8 however they offered complimentary gin spritzers which were so good and the first cocktail once seated was on the house. The manager came over and was super apologetic for the wait which was real nice. Overall food is always consistently good and drinks are some of the best you'll find in the area. Great atmosphere and experience overall. If you're coming in on a weekend, make reservations in advance or be prepared to wait 1.5-2 hours. Will return for sure! read more

Four of us went here to celebrate my birthday. I have only been here once before for a catered event upstairs. Nicely decorated, caring, professional staff including an excellent waitress, and a host and hostesses who often checked in on us were all very accommodating. Food quality was quite good. I ordered the stuffed mushroom appetizer with fennel sausage, Pecorino Romano cheese, and San Marzano tomato sauce that was even better than I had hoped. Delicious and very satisfying. My entree was skirt steak with home cut fries. Skirt steak is often tough and chewy, this was not tough at all and it cut like prime NY cut sirloin. Plenty of crispy hand-cut fries, also served with a chimmichuri sauce. Paired with a Zodiac Caymus Cabernet, and my dinner was almost symphonic. Others ordered; chorizo mac and cheese which was topped with crispy breadcrumbs, buttermilk fried chicken sandwich, a properly cooked burger, angry shrimp with bucatini pasta. We shared a bit of each other's starters and entrees and I was equally impressed with all of the food I tried. Extensive varieties of wines on a well thought out list nicely complimented the food. Service was thorough, and mostly quite professional. Although the constant upselling of additional bottles of costly mineral water, extra toppings; cheese, bacon, extra portions is not something I enjoy. "People love to buy, but don't like to be sold" comes to mind. The sticky toffee cake for $13 is the identical product sold at Whole Foods for $4.99. I had it at 618 and I've bought it at Whole Foods - identical, served with whipped creme and a baked (inedible) orange slice. Kind of surprised that a restaurant selling $65 portions of steak or $130 steak for two doesn't make their own desserts. The truth is important. The other diners were a pleasant surprise. No loud drunken tables, no out of control bratty children running around, everybody around the restaurant were very pleasant, and that just made the experience even better. For the adventurous they have craft cocktails, served with smoke or bubbles, and Zodiac themed drinks. Highly recommended for family dinners, date night, special occasions, or just a night out. Located almost in the middle of nowhere in Freehold, walking into 618 the atmosphere was comfortable and inviting with soft rustic woods and hints of its identity as a banquet hall as well (like chandeliers from the ceiling and flowers on the brick walls like a trellis). We were seated right away, 15 minutes prior to our Saturday evening reservation, and the place got full and busy really fast. Our server, Alex, was great, very friendly and attentive with nice recommendations. We started with some Pellegrino and I had an excellent Manhattan. For apps we had a pretty standard (in a good way) burratta with arugala, and some of the best shrimp and grits I've had. I had the tilefish special. The tilefish itself was ok, cooked perfectly and with a nice flaky texture but lacking a little bit in flavor. However the risotto it was served on was excellent, and it was topped with a touch of a flavorful green dollop of something which I wish I asked what it was!! My wife had a pretty good branzino but there were a few bones and scales in it that she had to pick out. And Ommegang Hennepin accompanied my meal which was fine, although I had to ask for a glass. The dessert menu featured something that won on Chopped, but we opted for the black cherry ricotta cheesecake (I also had a Taylor 10 port with it). We were expecting more of the ricotta that we get from authentic NYC ricotta cheesecakes, but this was perfectly fine. Overall I shouldn't be nitpicky, this was a great meal in a great setting with great service! read more

My wife and I shared a 618 salad appetizer and the $45 scallops special. Four scallops with basmati rice, purple broccoli, and a sauce. It was good and with the wonderful bread and whipped butter they provided was sufficient to sate us both. I had a nice tap IPA and a bottle of really good micro brew in a Belgian style. My had two glasses of a New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc. The total bill was just over $100. Which wasn't bad considering the drinks. My husband and I had incredible evening at 618 earlier this month. The ambiance in the bar area is beautiful and truly sets a positive mode. We enjoyed delicious tacos, perfectly grilled branzino and amazing steak with chimichurri. BUT it was our server who really put our night over the top. Danielle N, was amongst the most friendly, knowledgable, and kind people we have had the pleasure of interacting with.
