I rarely leave negative reviews, but this experience at AP Rooftop was disappointing enough to motivate me. The rooftop itself is beautiful. The views are fantastic, the atmosphere is great, and we were genuinely excited to spend the evening there. I arrived with two friends and my service dog. Unfortunately, the service was extremely slow. We waited quite a while just to place our food order, and after ordering, we waited approximately an hour for our food to arrive. During that time, my dog had not even been offered water. If you don't want animals in your establishment we were more than happy to move on. We later learned there was a shift change taking place, which may explain some of the delays, but it certainly did not improve the experience. We also ordered an Aperol Spritz that was being advertised downstairs. It arrived noticeably flat, but we chose not to complain because we were trying to enjoy the evening. To provide some context, our table ordered ceviche, sliders, and two pizzas. This was not a particularly large or complicated order, yet we still waited approximately an hour for the food to arrive. When it finally did, some of it was served less than hot. Despite the delays and quality issues, we remained patient and polite, we wanted to enjoy the evening and the beautiful setting and we were hungry after a ling day at the beach. The most frustrating part happened after we had already been seated for over an hour and our food had finally arrived. A manager approached to confirm that my dog was a service animal because he had been instructed to do so. We answered his questions and explained that we would be leaving soon anyway. A few minutes later, General Manager Connor Anderson came to our table and insisted that my dog either be placed on the floor immediately or that we move outside. What made the situation so unreasonable was the timing. We had already been seated for over an hour, our drinks had been served, our order had been taken, and our food had finally arrived. I had literally just taken my first bite of pizza when this issue was suddenly raised. Had management addressed this concern when we were first seated, I would have respected their position and made a decision then. Instead, they waited until after we had spent over an hour at the restaurant and had finally begun eating before forcing the issue. My friends and I were actually considering moving outside, but the manner in which the conversation was handled felt unnecessarily confrontational and hostile. Rather than continue an uncomfortable interaction, we asked for our food to be packed to go and left. To their credit, the staff ultimately removed the flat Aperol Spritz from our bill and also removed a beer that we never had the opportunity to drink because the situation had already escalated and we were leaving. While I appreciate that gesture, it did not make up for the overall experience or the way the situation was handled. Several employees appeared visibly uncomfortable during the interaction and seemed frustrated by the way the situation was being handled. While the service staff had been polite throughout the evening, the management approach completely changed the tone of the experience. Instead of resolving the issue professionally, it felt as though customer experience, common sense, and the efforts of the staff were being disregarded. We left feeling that the situation had been unnecessarily escalated when a calm conversation could have easily resolved it. AP Rooftop has an incredible location and beautiful views, but hospitality is about more than scenery. What should have been an enjoyable evening ended with us feeling unwelcome and rushed out after already investing significant time and money into the experience. The view earns five stars. Unfortunately, the service, timing, and management of this situation did not. read more

Absolutely loved my visit here. The food was outstanding! The skirt steak with orzo noodles and homemade ricotta was out of this world good. The green goddess mocktail is super yummy. The view by the window is great! we weren't at a high top so the view is slightly blocked but it's still gorgeous. We had the corner table by the door so got more views. Temperature was great inside. Service was good and she was super friendly but I think they are understaffed so a few times we waited longer than expected for her to come back to us or for the dessert menu. Adding that parking is on the street around several blocks and not for the specific restaurant. We got lucky with a spot out front but you might have to walk far. I started top of the boardwalk and AP had a massive patio. There are stadium style seats with bright orange pillows and cushioned seats for informal lounging. At the bottom of this area is a stage and table seating. The bar tender was super nice and fixed me a spritz with rosemary. Very refreshing. Let me start by saying the service was amazing. The food was awful. Bland, unseasoned, uninspired, overpriced. The cocktails weren't great either, the best part of the tomato tomahto was the zaatar salt rim. We ordered the AP meatball, Whipped Feta Dip, Sliders, and Charred Pineapple salad. We had to add salt and pepper to all of our food. The herbed butter completely saved the sliders. The Charred pineapple salad seemed to come with a different dressing than advertised, and upon ordering the correct dressing, was still terrible. One of my favorite things to do is accidentally stumble upon beautiful places. I walked into AP Rooftop on a Sunday afternoon not knowing quite what to expect. I took the elevator to the third floor and was greeted by a darkly lit dining room and floor-to-ceiling views of the ocean. Outside, there are orange pillows lining the steps, an outdoor bar (there's an indoor one too for those of us who lose every battle against New Jersey mosquitoes), and one of the prettiest views of Asbury I've seen. I ordered a glass of Prosecco, grabbed a seat overlooking the beach, and spent an hour or two wondering why I don't do things like this more often. I didn't order any food, so I can't comment on the menu. What I can tell you is that I left wishing I had stayed longer. Five stars for reminding me that summer afternoons don't have to be any more complicated than a good view and a glass of something bubbly. read more

I'm not sure where to start, an absolutely stunning restaurant with full bar, windows all around with ocean views, and historic downtown waterfront Asbury Park! The drinks are top-notch, the food is fantastic! We've come here for dinner and brunch. This time I was here for brunch and the selections are unique and incredibly delicious! I had eggs with tomatoes, onions, and peppers and sourdough toast. Others in our group had steak and eggs, other side, chicken, and waffles. The food is just great! They have a wonderful bar. It makes terrific drinks. I had a craft beer that was wonderful! There's parking on the street outside, you have to pay for parking in Asbury PARK but we never have trouble getting a spot. I've been wanting to hit a rooftop this summer, so I'm glad I got to check out AP Rooftop. I visited on a Sunday with a group of ladies from a social club. We ended up with a pretty large group and when more people showed up than what was expected, they were accommodating and created space for the extra people. Once you enter this space, the views and vibe are lovely. This restaurant sits on the beach, so depending on where you are, you get a nice ocean view. The bar area of the restaurant is nice as well. I ordered the Sunsets in Valencia drink. It's a spritz cocktail that was very refreshing. For food, I went with the naan tacos and a side salad. I loved both. The tacos were filled with chicken tikka masala. They were yummy. I just wish they had a little more chicken in them. Overall, I could see myself returning, even if it's just to sit at the bar. However, I would advise against going here early in the day during the weekend in summer, unless you live in the area. If you're from or visited the Jersey Shore during the summer, you know the deal. Parking can be a challenge, as it was for myself and a few others in my group. It took me 45 minutes to find a spot. I absolutely refused to pay $50 for the nearby parking garage. It can be a pain battling it out for parking with the beach goers in summer, so be prepared for that. read more

Omg! Friday night and the bar was hopping! We managed to score two seats! Bamm! On top of that- Connor- best bartender on the Jersey Shore! We ordered two martinis which were awesome! We made a reservation for lunch on a Saturday right when it opened (this was last month) but there were still plenty of tables/bar seats available. The smoked pepperoni pizza was definitely the hit, packed with flavor and plenty of crispy pepperoni and peppers. The lobster roll was delicious and very filling as well. Our only complaint was that the fries were listed as truffle fries on the menu, but we just received regular fries. Not sure if that was a mix up in the kitchen or they changed their recipe without updating the menu. Also, the fries needed more salt. Still, we'll certainly dine here again and look forward to trying the dinner menu. read more

Last night was our fifth time at AP Rooftop, and all five visits were great! The place is very nice, the staff courteous and helpful, and the food was delicious. (Once, a steak was a bit too rare, but my companion didn't want to send it back- I would have) This time, we had some oysters, octopus, and shrimp to start (all very yummy), Branzino and two of the double pork chops (one 'medium-well', one 'well', and they were right on the money). The sides were good, and the wine- while a little pricey- was excellent! Our waitress- Destiny - was very nice, but if you're lucky enough to have Alison, you've hit the top of the charts as far as professionalism goes. We'll be back! read more

We did NOT try to sit outside where everybody wants to be on one of the busiest weekends of the year 4th of July (though it is a beautiful view.) We sat where we were put (because hostesses have a rotation they need to follow,) next to the windows and it was still beautiful! They did accommodate us because the AC was dripping on the table given the humidity outside. Not the restaurant's fault, that's nature, and they were happy to scoot us to a table not under the system. Our server was perfectly attentive, had a great personality joking around with us, food and drinks came out quick (we were trying to get to a show at the Lanes,) and the drinks were perfectly strong. I got a normal margarita ($14) first that was balanced well, then opted for the fun Lost In Translation ($17) but I wish I could've taken that glass home! (See video) The food was INCREDIBLE!! We got the chef housemade bread (YES. GET IT! $6) I got the naan tacos (almost shredded chicken and yes the flavor is great without it being too spicy. $14) He got the oven roasted spiced wings that came with a cheese sauce below it that was so delicious we mopped it up with the bread. $18 The ONLY downfall is the fact the sandwiches and paninis are only available until 4pm. We wanted to try the chicken one. We will 10000% be back and I can't wait!
