If I could give negative stars for this restaurant I would. NEVER go here with a larger party or if you don't want to wait 3-5 business days for your meal. First, we started off with a 7 pm reservation, and did not sit down until 7:30, on a MONDAY night. Then, it took another hour to even get our drinks (which were majority just sodas). We thought our waiter was afraid of us because he never came to the table to check on us. Our food then arrived but not all at one time, so majority of our party finished their meals before the last three entrees were delivered. Two of those entrees were surf and turf, the lobster was undercooked and rubbery, and the steak was so raw we had to send it back. For the most expensive meal on the menu, this is ridiculous. My sister, whose birthday we were celebrating, was so upset she was crying. And after all that, they comped only a round of drinks and brought out dessert, that we were not even going to order because the service was so bad. We had to ask for more off our bill because our experience was truly ridiculous. The staff is run by children, the kitchen and bar clearly get overwhelmed, and the food is not up to the price. Came here on a Saturday night at 6pm. We waited 22 minutes for water. Our waitress kept saying the dishwasher is broken. She seemed very disorganized. Her hair was in a "slept on it for 3 days" messy bun. She was also cursing at our table about the water glasses. "If the glasses don't come out I'll go back there myself and god damn cleam them". Every table around us were complaining too. They forgot half my meal. By accident they brought me the wrong salad and the waitress made fun of the food runner for not speaking English. We will never come back. Aside from running out of water glasses I guess they ran out of chairs too because some lucky winners sat in fold up chairs. Looking around the dining room everyone was either waiting on something, rolling their eyes, wanting to talk to management. If you really had your heart set on being beaten up in high school the easiest thing to do (back in the day) was tell your buddies how much you were looking forward to catching REO Speedwagon on their next tour. So, it was with more than a little amusement that our appetizer at Fair Haven's Nauvoo Grill consisted of a very tight rotation (four songs and counting) of those not so badass arena rock afterthoughts and... a few select cuts from Rod 'The Mod' Stewart, pulled directly from his Do Ya Think I'm Sexy disco period all courteously piped in via the restaurant's sound system. Nauvoo must know their crowd but at least it wasn't Jimmy Buffett. But back to the meal. Sitting in front of a huge fireplace in their tranquil sunroom was perfect. The room is clean and modern with on-trend appointments rustling every palm frond in the place. Halibut and Salmon were the main courses and both were visually appealing and looked amazing but both, despite eye candy curb appeal were remarkably bland - flaky and moist to be sure but with no explosion on the tongue whatsoever. A $37.95 eucharist wafer of Halibut deserved better. On a more optimistic note, my Caesar was excellent and their Burrata salad special hit every mark. Service was especially attentive and despite being underwhelmed by the fish, the space is spectacular and I'm certainly in the mood to give it another go and hope the chef has a better night. We decided to come in during Jersey Shore Restaurant Week because they offered an awesome $22 3-course meal, with weekends included! (Most restaurants make you sit before 7pm and some exclude Friday/Saturday). Our server was Dakota who was outstanding. I ordered one of the local IPA's - definitely a bit pricey at $8 but it was very good. A Blue Moon was $6 and a glass of house wine was $8, so drinks aren't cheap. I went with the Meatball Crostini appetizer, the meatball was very good, the crostini was kind of non existent which was fine for me. I also got a chance to try the eggplant and it was delicious, nice and crispy. For my meal I got the Bolognese pasta. The Bolognese was pretty good, not great but definitely tasty and I enjoyed it. For dessert I got the mango sorbet which was delicious. My girlfriend got the Italian Ricotta Cheesecake with a raspberry sauce and she loved it. It's been a good 4 yrs since I've been here. It's very tastefully laid out with its wooden decor. You know it's the local's local watering hole. This is set up in 3 different areas, cozy dining area, cocktail bar with a nite live atmosphere, and an upstairs banquet room. I was in the cocktail area the whole evening listening to the live musical act of Sherri and Karlee. Entertaining it was. A baby shower with over 60 people... mostly Italian Americans... shower from 12-3 and we had to be in the PARKING LOT by 3:05! When I arrived there was no one around to tell us which room to go to... When when I left I had to find my coat by myself... Luckily I knew where the coat room was! Definitely short staffed. The next party delivered their balloons while we were having coffee. Came here for two separate work events. The first time, we were served a three course meal. Both the salmon and the steak dishes were excellent. But my favorite was by far the dessert--a cheesecake mousse dish that melted in your mouth. The second time was a larger event, so was a buffet style. With respect to aesthetics, the Nauvoo Grill cannot be beat. This is probably one of the most beautifully designed restaurants in our area. Simply gorgeous. I do feel the menu could use some variety however. You have your soups (the onion soup was excellent), pastas, seafood and steak selections (i had the filet mignon which was also excellent). Don't get me wrong - the food is good, I just wish they had more choices to choose from the normal steak house would. The aesthetics alone demand a bit more from this place. To be clear - I would definitely return to Nauvoo Grill. I liked the atmosphere. Just hope next time they have some true specials on the menu. It would make things all the more exciting! read more

In these times of fear and loathing, one of the bad by-products falls on the restaurant business. Therefore this review is bittersweet. Protecting the remaining servers but informing the establishment what they can do differently. We were seated quite quickly. The restaurant was very nice. Clean and airy. Out of the corner of my eye, I noticed a blur of a server. Moving at hummingbird speed, he came over to the table and took our drink order and just like that was gone. Coming back with our drinks, he was ready to take our order. When asked if there were any specials, he said no and waited for us to tell him what we wanted. We ordered two (2) appetizers Spring rolls and Tuna Tartare. Again, at the speed of light, he was gone. In all fairness, he was waiting on us, another table of two (2) and a table of eight (8). Quite honestly, I was running out of breath just watching him. Here's where it all goes to hell. Speedy comes back to the table with the tartare only (uh oh) and says sorry we're out of spring rolls. Proceeds to tell us the chef walked out that night leaving the assistant chefs to tend to the food order. So we order something different to replace the spring rolls and as soon as he leaves, out comes our entrees. UH OH! Needless to say we are not happy now. Again, this not entirely the fault of the server. CLEARLY he is overwhelmed. However, so times you need to keep tabs on what is going on regardless. The food was quite delicious, but because of the issues we had, I don't think we will be going back to the Nauvoo any time soon. read more

This was my 3rd time dining here, 1st review. I like this place. Each visit was here a different dining experience. All pleasant. Good quality food. Never had a bad service experience and I like the atmosphere. Arrived a little after 6pm on a Wednesday with my wife and 2 toddler children. Not crowded at all. Restaurant has 2 parking lots and I think across the street is an overflow. I was able to park in the main lot. Exterior is fitting to the area. Great rustic architecture. You pass by and you are immediately intrigued. You want to eat here or at least have a glimpse at the interior. As you walk in, the bar area is to the left, a 2nd dining area mixed with booths and a couple of tables is to the right. Stay straight down some steps and there is a 3rd dining area with all tables, high ceilings and a huge rustic fireplace. At this hour, all areas are equally lit with dim lighting. Dim enough to be called "Romantic", but still appropriate/friendly enough for kids. Although I have never seen it, there is a 2nd floor which I think is used as banquet space. Taylor was our server. She was friendly and service was good. Seeing as though there was no crowd in the restaurant, I feel like some things could have come quicker (drinks, condiments), but she was still attentive. Passed on appetizers this time around and got right to entrees. Special was "surf & turf" but we've been cutting back on meat. Wife requested 2 lobster tails (6 oz each) instead of filet and a tail. (Pic) They granted the request with no issue and honored the same price. ($23.95) Big plus in my opinion. Love it when restaurants are flexible and accommodating. I ordered the lobster ravioli and I have had lobster ravioli had several restaurants, their rendition was perfect. (pic) Sauce was creamy, not too thick also not runny. Succulent lobster meat topped and filled the ravioli. Kids both had chicken fingers. Very generous portion for a kids meal and comes with a dessert. I did not time how long it took to receive our food, but when my wife and kids don't look around and ask "Where is the food?", that's a good sign. It seemed like appropriate timing for what we ordered. It definitely was not a long wait, but also was not "super quick". If food comes out too quick, I personally question how fresh it is. 4 entrees (2 being seafood), 2 desserts, 1 alcoholic drink. Bill was $80 before tax & tip. Really not bad for a family of 4. I have eaten here with a large group, I have done "date night" here and also been with my family. This restaurant has versatility. I've been mid week and also at their busiest times on the weekend. Very warm, comfortable interior and a super nice staff. That's the only reason I'm giving two instead on one stars. I've never been to a restaurant where the entrées came out before the appetizers or the salads! Poor kitchen management. Three of our party of eight ordered the turkey and they all said it was very good. If the rest of us had known, we'd have opted for the turkey as well. It's always baffling to me when a, "steak house" doesn't know how to properly cook a steak. My daughter ordered a fillet mignon, "medium well" and it came out medium rare. Much closer to plain rare. Another ordered a strip steak rare and it was well done to the point of a hockey puck! I had the pork chop which while nicely seasoned was dry and overcooked even though I asked for medium. It was almost as if the kitchen didn't even care to look at the desired level of doneness. My pork chop came with a piece of corn bread that was like having a mouthful of sand. As I stated, the appetizers and salads came out after the entrées that we had already started. Some of us had ice cream and pie for dessert along with coffee and tea. Whomever made the coffee needs lessons because it was as weak as a cup of tea. The apple pie was painfully average. Our server and waiter were very apologetic the whole time and being that it was Thanksgiving we light heartedly let it all slide. Especially after we were comped the salads, appetizers and desserts without even asking. They desperately need some quality control here in the kitchen. Was in tonight for dinner and tried the Louisiana Strip special with Blackened shrimps..let me tell you I'm a picky, steak person and this thing was cooked to perfect medium rare...the shrimp were blackened but still plump and juicy...the mashed potatoes were garlicky and smooth and the broccolini was fresh and crispy. My better half had the salmon which was ehhh. She enjoyed it but after having a bite of my meal she knew she effed up. I don't know what has happened to Nauvoo but tonight's experience was not a good one. We went as a group of 7. First Course - a soup had to be sent back because it was cold. Second Course - a dinner landed upside down on the floor (it flipped off the server's tray.) No one from the young staff apologized or said anything except "we'll bring you another one". Twenty minutes later and still no dinner - I got up to speak with the hostess/manager. She had no idea what had happened but said she would take care of it ...... Another 10 minutes and finally the missing dinner was delivered AFTER we all had finished our meals. They did take the missing dinner off the bill but the night was spoiled. Nauvoo has always been reliable and good, but not tonight. It will be a long time before we come back. Sorry. read more

Our party of 6 had a reservation for 6:15 and we were seated promptly. Our server was Mike. He started greeting our table by screaming "Excuse me." Then introducing himself and took our party's drink order. As part of our party went to the bar prior, we just had waters. He then left the table didn't speak about any of the specials or the restaurant week specials and walked away. 15 minutes passed between this interaction and our second interaction with Mike. We had to flag him down to put in our order. The restaurant week menu this year was lacking. The addition of pot stickers but the subtraction of everything else beyond salad or soup. The Caesar salad was good but service was awful. We had to ask for a bread basket. The waiter forgot our appetizer orders of calamari. When we asked another waitress about the status of the order, she asked our server who proceeded to ignore us for another 14 minutes. We know this because we started a timer. 7:03pm calamari arrives. The sauce served with the calamari was tasty. 7:07 our dinner arrives. I ordered a medium rare flatiron steak. What I received was a medium well steak and cold potatoes. Waiter did not come back to ask us how our meals were. By 7:19 our party was done with dinner. Water glasses were empty throughout dinner. 7:31 waiter returns with dessert. No offer for coffee. Dessert was okay. I had the cheesecake. The other half of the party ordered pumpkin ice cream. The kitchen ran out of pumpkin ice cream so they offered vanilla without offering the other members of the party other desserts. Again, water cups were still empty. Overall the service was a 1 Star and the calamari boosted the experience up to a 2 star dining experience. Definitely not worth the price for a poor experience. read more

Decided to come here for Mother's Day, I was quickly running out of places to reserve, came across this place on google with 4 stars and saw the building and interior looked quite pretty. We came in and the inside had a nice ambience so I had high hopes up until our food arrived. We waited about 30 minutes to get 4 appetizers and another 20 for 2 entrees. All of our apps were too salty and we couldn't even touch our lobster bisque after having a spoonful. The entrees were all bland, no seasoning on the halibut and our pasta was watery and tasteless. Our family attended a bridal shower here on Saturday, 7/17. It could not have been more perfect! The banquet manager and servers went out of their way to make this a very special event. The food at the brunch buffet was fresh, hot & tasty. While many restaurants only keep the buffet open for a short time, this buffet was refreshed and kept oven for our guests to have 2nds and even 3rds. All of the foods were delicious but the eggplant rollatini, the omelet station, the waffles with fresh whipped cream and fresh fruit, the penne pasta, and the fresh baked rolls and pastries were amazing). In addition, we have a physically challenged elderly family member who was treated with patience, dignity, respect & good humor as she was assisted on the chairlift to and from the second floor banquet room. One word pretty much sums it up: amazing. Our party of five with seated at a nice comfortable large table in a beautiful setting right in front of the fireplace surrounded by glass windows and beautiful decorations. The ambience is a blend that has just enough casual to be comfortable paired with sophistication and elegance that turns the experience up a notch. The food was fantastic, and everybody was more than satisfied from appetizers and salads to entrées. It would be safe to say that we would all recommend the French onion soup, the pear and blue cheese salad, shrimp cocktail, prime rib special, chicken francaise, and the Cajun chicken in vodka sauce. The portions are large! The staff was super friendly, and accommodating when we had questions. They were attentive and refilled water glasses when needed. The beer selection was OK, but won't satisfy a craft beer lover, but don't let that stop you. A solid 3. In terms of service and food everything was a-ok. Overall space reminded me of a living room from the late 90's... carpeted, with wood and geometric shapes. Also, super dark with main light coming from candles placed on tables etc. We sat outside on the patio, it was nice and surrounded by greenery... which resulted in some bug bites on our legs as the sun set. There are essentially 3 menus going on here- 1. the specials 2. the regular menu 3. the steakhouse menu. Some of the options on the regular menu were also featured on the steakhouse menu. We started with calamari and a half order of the lobster mac n cheese. Both were ok. The lobster mac n cheese was disappointing. It had a lot of lobster, but was lacking flavor, and was very watery. Was expecting something much more decadent. Could've used salt, but there was no salt and pepper set up on any of the patio tables. We were there for half price burger night so we tried the seared tuna sandwich along with the Nauvoo burger. Both came with fries (also needed salt). The Nauvoo burger was huge and cooked perfectly. Super loaded burger (bacon, bbq sauce, onions). Seared tuna sandwich was tasty and had raw ginger on it, which was refreshing. So we had a reservation here, and still had to wait for a table because it was outside and no one had bussed the patio in a while. Our server was friendly, but also had tables inside so was busy going back and forth. Requested a spoon for mac n cheese, never got one. Just some little improvements to be made. read more

My wife and I have been here many times during the past year and they have always done very well keeping everyone safe. Now that restaurants have reopened fully, they are hitting the ground running. We had dinner tonight with our dear friends and everyone and everything was terrific. Lauren and Mike both went out of their way to accommodate our party and the bartenders and servers were great as always. We had the rigatoni bolognese as a shared appetizer, two had filet mignon, one had the mahi mahi and I had the pork Milanese special. (Absolutely delicious!)
