A quick phone reservation later, we were counting down the days like kids waiting for summer vacation. Dressed to impress, we made our way to Freehold. The moment you step foot inside 618, the restaurant's magic begins its quiet work. Their winter atrium was nothing short of cinematic, glittering ornaments and shimmering icicles looked as if they had been borrowed directly from the set of a high-budget holiday film. 618's commitment to beauty also continues seamlessly through the bar and dining rooms. Everywhere you look, the décor whispers the same message: stagnation not welcome here. The attention to detail was lovingly and meticulously executed. At our table awaited a handwritten card (yes, actually handwritten!) congratulating us on our anniversary alongside a red napkin folded into a romantic rose. It was a simple gesture, yet it spoke volumes about 618's philosophy of hospitality. We instantly felt seen, celebrated, and just a little bit spoiled. Our first server, John, welcomed us warmly and guided us through the specials before his shift ended. Then we met Austin our enthusiastic and knowledgeable server who guided us through the drink menu. If Mezcal's cocktails had raised our expectations, Austin ensured that 618 matched them. Drink one: Between the Lines, a butterfly-pea-infused Patrón creation presented in a hollow glass book nestled among actual books the owner has read and been inspired by. As someone who doesn't judge a book by its cover, I appreciated this clever storytelling touch. The cocktail itself had deep, evolving flavors that woke up our palates. It was clear the magic of 618's and Mezcal's philosophy was going to be ever present throughout our dining experience. Our first appetizer arancini from the evening's specials was crisp, creamy, and beautifully balanced. Dipping our bread into the leftover sauce as to not leave anything to waste felt so very right. Then came drink number two. My fiancée ordered Crows Before Bros, a sweet, fall-themed alcoholic cider served in an adorable scarecrow mug. I followed Austin's recommendation: an old fashioned dramatically smoked with a skull apparatus that looked straight off the set of an edgy magic show. I would have overlooked it on the menu had Austin not recommended it. Next up: the Crispy Pork Belly, which became my runaway favorite of the night. I almost didn't order it and I'm not ashamed to admit that would have been a HUGE mistake. It was perfection. If I could write the word perfectly in italics, bold, AND fireworks, I would. Crispy. Tender. Decadent. Order this dish. Our final round of drinks did not disappoint. My fiancée's Aperol Spritz...But Make It Fall tasted like autumn wrapped in a scarf. I ordered the Fig-getaboutit, a brandy-based cocktail served with a honey stick coated in fig honey. You adjust the sweetness by swirling the stick, like turning up the volume on a song you love. It was interactive, clever, and genuinely delicious. One of the most creative cocktails I've ever had. Onto the main act. My Braised Short Rib was so tender it practically filed for emancipation from the fork. Every component from the silky mashed potatoes to the perfectly cooked green beans was absolute comfort-food luxury. My fiancée ordered the Grilled Island Salmon. While I am not typically a salmon guy, even I enjoyed the purple cauliflower accompaniment and she said the fish was delicious. 618 clearly understands the art of pairing vegetables with proteins not an art every restaurant respects these days. Dessert time. We missed dessert at Mezcal and promised ourselves we wouldn't make that mistake twice. Torn between the Pistachio Olive Oil Cake and Warm Sticky Toffee Cake, we went with the latter partly because Gordon Ramsay famously says it takes years to master. I've attempted to make it myself and failed so hard it should be illegal. But 618? They nailed it. Warm, rich, perfectly balanced and it arrived with a sparkler and "Happy Anniversary!" message, creating a moment that truly felt magical. Overall our experience at 618 was extraordinary! It completely lived up to the experience we had at Mezcal. Between the food which was excellent, the atmosphere which was awe inspiring, and the staff that made us feel welcomed and celebrated our anniversary, we had a top notch experience at 618. I have visited 618 three times now for corporate events. The staff every year has always been fantastic! The bar tenders are always fun and share good recommendations. The waiters and staff made sure everyone was accommodated, ensuring all allergies and dietary restrictions were met. The food buffet spreads are always outstanding, I always try one of everything and I have never been disappointed. And I could never forget the chocolate truffle desserts - to die for! The seasonal drinks are always so yummy and garnished beautifully. The party rooms both upstairs and downstairs are beautiful! Both rooms are spacious, tons of room for all of your activities so it's not just a sit down dinner event. We had a table of four and with reservations. the bar was packed and so was the dining hall. the place itself is pretty cool just don't know about all the decorations which made it look like a Hogwarts movie and but they had great music. Dim lights which made it hard to read the menu, it didn't help that the neighboring table was so close that every time someone passed by I kept getting bumped into which is pretty annoying. The food I must say was decent your typical American Italian food, Nothing really exciting to mention about it. In fact the server had to apologize for the delay. The steak ($48 each) was bad. Very bad. Dry, COLD, drowned by mashed potatoes in a teriyaki sauce that I swear I use to marinate chicken in. The crab cake was horrible. Again, cold, tasteless. A bit of highlight was the desert, but by then it was obvious; this is a restaurant that has lots of flare but no substance. It's always a great experience coming here. Service tonight was excellent! Our server, Celine, was super friendly, attentive, and kind. She made the experience even better, so much that we want to request her next time we dine here. The food was pretty decent. The shaved Brussels sprouts salad was delicious! The mocktail "mirage" was super yummy and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The scallops over risotto from the Chef's menu was tasty, but not as good as their scallop special usually is. My favorite was the fall scallops over butternut squash risotto. I wish they'd make that more often. The mushroom risotto was ok but not my favorite. The scallops as always are great quality and gigantic! The inside of th restaurant is immaculately decorated and very aesthetically pleasing. The noise level on Saturday night around 6-8pm is quite loud, but you can still hear your party talking at the table. The environment is a comfortable one in that you can enjoy your night out and not feel like you need to watch how loudly you speak or laugh which is nice. Many higher end cuisine restaurants you feel as though you must be "composed at all times" but I love that here my friends and I can laugh with joy and not think about it. Overall a great experience and I'll certainly be back. Edit: adding in that I ordered the skirt steak to go for a family member (40 minute drive home) and he said it was absolutely mouthwatering delicious and cooked to perfection. The drinks here are very creative and they put a lot of effort into presentation which I appreciate! The food is also all amazing. There wasn't a single thing that we ordered that I didn't love. We shared the Grilled Flatbread, Burrata Salad and a side of Roasted Brussels Sprouts to start. For my main course, I got the Angry Shrimp & Pasta. It had the perfect amount of flavor and a little bit of a kick. Super garlicky which I love! The buratta salad was our favorite of the apps with the shortrib ravioli as a close 2nd. I was not a fan of the meatballs - they were spongey. Entreés were outstanding. The scallops were meaty and seared to perfection. The steak was also a true medium-rare and WELL SEASONED!! Our dessert was a delectable pistachio cake. I'm a frosting girly, so I was extatic when I saw a thiCCC (with 3 C's) pile of frosting on top. To finish it off, we were given 2 pistachio mocktails on the house! First impression made before arrival...Carrin for the Win! She answered the phone win I called to inquire if they had any reservations left or if we could just walk in. I quickly told her I was about 3 miles away at another restaurant that'll shall not be named who overlooked our business...Carrin said no worries, we got penciled in for a 7:00pm and we're on route. Upon arrival, we were very pleased to see the Valet since it was a rainy night. We checked in and headed to the podium, where we were instantly walked to our high top table as promised. The ambiance was beautiful, they have rustic, modern charm with a warmth flowing through the dining area. We could see the mixologists moving through their orders, we could see the good times other patrons were having and the many impressive food plates being transported to tables. Our server, Mike P. Was so friendly and nice, never pushy or anything other than gracious and knowledgeable about the menu and cocktails.
