This was the second time we have been to 618 and it was fabulous as always. We didn't have a reservation on a busy Friday nite and we came at prime time 7:30 ish. The hostess Kate informed us it would be around 30 - 45 min wait, but we could wait at the bar for an outdoor table which we wanted. I wasn't to keen on waiting indoors, but she showed us the bar and it exceeded our expectations! Approx 30 minutes later Emily came to inform us that they had a table available, but it was indoors and if we would like to see the table first. It was very social distanced and cozy. I just want to say Thank you for taking the time and patience to open our eyes to " Indoor Dining" . It gives us hope that there is light at the end of the tunnel! Pablo was our server and amazing. He was very knowledgeable about the menu and gave very good options. The Shrimp & Grits as an appetizer was out of this world! My hubby & I both had the Skirt Steak which melted in your mouth! Everything about this place is great. The menu changes regularly with creative and fun dishes. The cocktails are tasty and they have a solid wine list. The supplier of their beef is the same supplier as Peter Luger's in Manhattan so you can't go wrong with their cuts here. read more

Stopped here on a whim. They said they were fully booked but I'm not one for taking a " no" for an answer. I asked to sit at the bar and eat. It was a crowded Saturday night with a 40's-50's crowd. There is plenty to choose from on the menu. Drinks and food. Both my husband and I enjoyed our meals. The burger which was cooked to perfection was delicious. The food came out quickly. I am always very specific when ordering how I like a meat cooked. The waitress even made a special note. I even saw the chef come out to ask her about it. You would think ordering "medium" would be easy but I've had meat come out well done, then raw in the one of the best steak houses in NYC. Every time I come here, I have a delightful meal. The ambiance, food and waitstaff are phenomenal!! The more I go eat at other restaurants, the more problems I have... I'm about to go strictly to 618 for all my meals. Even getting take out was great, the fried chicken sandwich and fries held up so well.. not soggy at all. The braised short rib ravioli is to die for!! I don't like mushrooms or peas and I ate them in this dish. Everything and everyone is outstanding! Back Again!!! I wrote my first review for 618 shortly after they opened. Nothing has changed. The food and service are consistently top notch. This time they had a new selection of apps for Happy Hour!!! Tried all of them. The Cajun shrimp and grits are the best in NJ. The place is always hosting events on the weekends but you would never know how busy they are because of their attention to detail. I had the salmon and it was cooked perfectly, crisp on both sides, moist in the middle, squash puree, a wonderful rice and green beans. Tried the chocolate chip ice cream sandwiches for dessert. We visited 618 for a birthday dinner after a recommended and they did not disappoint! The server Nicole was an absolute joy and so helpful. She knew everything and anything on the menu and did not miss a beat. Her drink recommendations were on point as well! We had a such a wonderful time. We all highly recommend this fine establishment. The food was out of this world. Everyone got something a little different but the birthday boy got the cowboy steak and he was beyond happy with it. Everything cooked perfectly! With outdoor dining being new to most places the service was still great. Nicole was as quick as she could be with the obvious distance of our table to the inside. Had dinner here for the first time last night. We asked to be seated outside (they have a nice patio in the rear). Our server was John and he was great. We had some questions about the menu, which he appeared to answer honestly. We ordered the Bibb salad and the greens salad for appy's. Both were very good and had unique things going in in them. Entrees we're the Pork chop for me and lobster ravioli for my wife. Both were very good. Desert was a fantastic toffee cake for me and she had the flourless chocolate cake. Excellent. Went for our 4 year anniversary. Couldn't have had a better time. The food was awesome and Rick our server was as good as they come. Not just an order taker. An energetic, genuine, knowledgeable pro who you could tell loves what he does. We asked a few questions, he answered on point. He even suggested what order we might want our dishes to be served. We visited 618 for the first time last night after multiple recommendations and I have to say that it was a wonderful evening! We celebrated 2 birthday's and had a party of 6 people - it could not have been better. The food was excellent, service was attentive but never intrusive and we left knowing we would return! We had various selections from the menu (starters, mains and dessert) and not a single person was disappointed. Also - the cocktail and wine selection was excellent! Great restaurant. Was undergoing some renovations but you'd never know. Beautiful newly renovated bar space to grab a tasty beverage from their creative menu while you wait for your table. Inside decor was a mix of old school and steampunk in a way. Chairs were a little uncomfortable but that is the only negative. Service was amazing. Our server, Rick Keller, was knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and his presentation and advice made us want to eat everything on the menu. And had we, I doubt we would have been disappointed. Everything was delicious. We started with the stuffed mushrooms, grandmas meatballs, and the short rib raviolis, all excellent. We tried Three different entrees, salmon (thai influenced in flavor but not overpowering), shrimp and grits (flavors were great, grits were a little too fine for a true grit aficionado), and the braised short rib entree (very well prepared and great flavors and presentation). We were too full for dessert but they all looked delicious. If you can get Rick as your server, he made the experience so much more enjoyable and I'm sure he can do the same for any guest. read more

Because of the reviews I decided to take my wife out to 618 for our 15 year Anniversary. I am basing my rating in this review mostly on the service and nice ambiance. Unfortunately I wasn't too impressed with my meal. We ordered a pork belly sliders, skate tempura app, Braised short ribs, miso codfish with edamame dumplings in lemon grass broth. The pork belly sliders were ok. Not bad. Not great. We were told the skate was not fresh enough and wound up with shrimp tempura as an appetizer. I thought that it was good. The shrimp were large and I liked the batter. There was an aioli dip which helped with the flavor. I tried my wife's short ribs and I thought it was very dry. Not so dry where it was tough, but dry where it was not breaking apart easily. The flavor did not really make the dish any better. You had to eat it along with the whipped potatoes to make it go down easier. My wife was trying not to look unhappy. I was very disappointed with my Miso cod. It was very dry. When done right it should be soft and flakey. This is a different experience than that of another reviewer. The miso flavor was lacking and so was the lemon grass broth. The dumplings were ok. My daughter ate that instead of her chicken. The kids pizza was good. My daughter didn't eat much of it, but thats just her. My other daughter had the chicken breast kids dinner and you know what she did. The kids liked the green beans and fingerling potatoes. We agreed they were good. The kids meal was the best value on the menu! only $6. Our favorite part of the meal was the dessert! Order the Chocolate hazelnut crunch bar and Tiramisu! They were delicious! The Tiramisu was the best I've had. This was a dessert my wife and I first shared together while dating. My kids scarfed down the dessert that looks like a large kit kat and they gave it an "8!" I really wanted to love 618. The service was very good and very attentive. Our waitress, Nikki, was wonderful! She was were interactive to us and our children. Only one mishap, was when one of the waiters poured tap water into our glasses when it was clear as day we were drinking Pelligrino! It's an honest mistake and no big deal. That should not tarnish the excellent service. This place has so much potential. The banquet hall is on the second level. The first level is very spacious and modern but dimly lit. They can accomodate very large parties. The music playing was Sinatra/ jazz. They have a nice bar on the other side of the restaurant and they are also expanding the side of the restaurant to include a outdoor patio! Unfortunately my Anniversary dinner was not a success. I'm not sure what happened to our meal. We ate dinner early and there were only 2 other parties in the restaurant. I'm willing to give 618 a benefit of the doubt and give it another try in the future. I hope the food is better next time, because you can't win customers over by service alone or charge a lot for entrees and appetizers if they are just average. Don't be fooled by the unsuspecting location, this American fare restaurant is serving up some of the tastiest and artful dishes in all of New Jersey. Pleasant atmosphere, great service, and thoughtfully plated dishes. I love that this place is a mile away from my house! My fiance and I love to sit at a bar and eat, so that's where we headed. The first thing I noticed were the light fixtures; Edison bulbs . The decor is rustic and cozy, yet modern. The bar also has USB ports so you can charge your phone without annoying your bartender, genius! The menu is really nice as well as the beer selection, so those craft lovers are well taken care of. The bartenders are friendly and attentive. Never had a bad experience. The last time we were there, the bartender took a moment to show us the upstairs party space. We only took a quick peak, but I was wowed. There is also a dining space on the first floor that can be closed off by barn doors for privacy . On to the food... Fantastic! my goal is to try everything at least once, especially the roasted chicken. The food is flavorful, well plated and most of all, cooked to the right temp. I can't tell you how many times I've ordered my meat mid rare and get mid well/well. Gross! The prices are not cheap, so we come when we can and it's always worth it. We were celebrating my best friends birthday. She picked 618. We had a party of 11 with a 7pm reservation time. We were seated within 5 minutes. The waitress I believe her name was Jenna was fantastic. She was very attentive to us for the 2 hours we enjoyed everything. The restaurant was packed. We arrived for our dinner reservation at 5 pm and ordered Pellegrino sparkling water and apps. The waitress came to pour our water and the whole bottle slipped out of her hand and crash onto the table breaking a dish and spilling on us. More than half the bottle spilled out on the table and floor. We ordered dinner it took a little longer than expected to arrive. After dinner we receive the check and they charged us for the full bottle of sparkling water. I was very surprised that they didn't bring out a brand new bottle of water or at least take it off the bill. Really enjoyed this place, came here with the wife on a Friday night. Probably deserves a 4.5, but I'm going to round up. We started with the pork bell in sticky buns, which were really delicious. You get two small/medium stick buns with delicious pork belly in it. For dinner I got the grass fed burger and the lady got the short rib ravioli. Both excellent, burger was cooked perfectly and fries were great. The ravioli was a tad heavy on the cream, but really good flavors. The one thing that really peeved me was when I ordered a cappuccino, it came out - I kid you not - 25 seconds later. Now anyone who has ever had a decent cappuccino in their life knows that one cannot be made that fast. I knew I should have been skeptical once they asked me what flavor I wanted. I took a sip and it just tasted artificial. The waitress took it back and brought us the bill, without asking me if I wanted anything else instead...A place like this needs a strong coffee selection to top off a great meal. Everything about our experience at 618 was absolutely EXCEPTIONAL! The dinner menu has something for everyone with several unique dishes and specials. Our appetizer and meals were unbelievably flavorful and delicious. The cocktail menu is SO much fun... it really was an experience! Our server Matt was wonderful... he made great recommendations, was very knowledgeable about the menus, and had us smiling with his awesome personality! The restaurant is decorated beautifully, so clean, and even the bathrooms are stunning. They also have banquet rooms which make a great venue for private parties and weddings.
