This was my 2nd time having them test my car. If all you're looking for is a place to get a smog check without the frills, then this is it. If you need your hand held through the process, then this isn't the place for you. The guys are great, there is a little room to sit in while waiting for your car, and it isn't a hassle to check out. Never been so happy to get my smog checked. I was honestly apprehensive about smog checks in general; you pay money for them to tell you to spend more money, and you have to find somewhere to go while you wait. The people at 7 Days A Week Smog are awesome. My appointment was for 4pm but it was rainy and the 580 to Berkeley was (typically) slow. I called to say I would be late and they told me "no worries, just take your time and drive safe". Wow...I don't know when I last heard something so nice from a business. I got there and they warmly greeted me and led me to the waiting room, which has internet, magazines, snacks and drinks. They told me it would only take 20 minutes, which I really appreciate; I hate not knowing how long I'll be there. Sure enough, 20 minutes later they returned with a copy of my results (I passed), faxed them to the DMV, and wished me a nice day. Caring, quick, professional. Came here for smog check during lunch hours and I was in and out within 45 minutes (could had been 30 minutes if I was one car ahead :p). I had used this smog shop a few times within the month as I was having issues passing smog with my Rav4. Damien was very kind and helpful. He gave me a brochure on how to get my model to be ready for smog, and with some small repairs I was able to pass smog with flying colors. They not only have a really cute outdoor waiting area if you want to read magazines in the sun, the indoor area is really cute and they even provide free snacks, cocoa and cider. Not only that, but all ladies should note, they have an ample supply of magazines you actually want to read, which is a total bonus when waiting in any automotive place of business. I drove all over looking to get my 92 previa van smoged yesterday and it was a hassle. The lowest quote I got was $129!!! I just found this place and came based on their positive yelp reviews. They quoted me $94 and I got a $20 discount. Found a coupon online and decided to give it a shot. 2 things really stuck out to me. 1. The waiting room was very nice. Free drinks, snacks, and wi-fi. Also, it was super clean. There is also an outdoor patio if you care to wait outside. Sure, it's not strictly required of a smog test place, but having a well maintained area to wait is definitely a plus. 2. The price was very fair. I had another car tested about a month ago and paid nearly twice what I paid here, even with $30 off. So many places offer cheap tests for 2000 and newer vehicles but they jack up the prices for those of us driving 95s and older models. Granted, they require more stringent tests, but paying around $80 for just the test seems high. I paid 49 and definitely felt like I got a deal. Even better, they take credit cards, so I don't have to go to the bank to grab extra cash. Scott was very friendly and definitely took care of me. I've been going to 7 Days a Week Smog Test for the past 6 years and like many fellow Yelpers have said, they are fast, efficient and have great customer service. They have a cozy reception room with snacks, computer with internet, hot tea and coffee (ok, the coffee is terrible), outdoor seating with nicely landscaped potted plants and a weight room and punching bag, in case you want to workout while your vehicle gets smogged. But to top it off, they even have treats for their dog customers. As for price, you receive $20 off when you are a repeat customer or mention Yelp. With the discount the cost is about $60.
