Great Demand, But Poor Convenience for Working Customers…read more I've had The Nook's mushroom coffee before. My best friend took me here on a weekend afternoon, and even then there was a line, although it was manageable and mostly stayed inside the shop. Because of that experience, I knew The Nook was popular, but I wasn't prepared for what I encountered on a weekday morning. I wanted to pick up a coffee before work, so I actually planned ahead. Before leaving home, I checked the mobile website expecting that, given the obvious demand, there might be an order-ahead option. Unfortunately, there isn't one. So I gave myself an additional 30 minutes specifically for parking, waiting in line, ordering, and waiting for the drink to be prepared. I figured that should be more than enough for a morning coffee pickup. I arrived around 7:30 AM, and as I walked toward The Nook from the south side of The Enclave, I could already see the line stretching out of the door and into the courtyard. I was honestly shocked. There were easily 15-20 people ahead of me. I decided to give it a fair chance and got in line. After 10 minutes, the line had barely moved. At that point, I walked out. I understand that popular businesses get busy, especially in the morning. But there is a difference between being busy and having a customer wait in a line of 15-20 people with virtually no movement at 7:30 AM, particularly when there is no mobile ordering or order-ahead option. For a coffee shop with this level of demand, I find the lack of an ordering system especially frustrating. If you're going to consistently have lines extending outside the business during the morning rush, there should be some way for customers who are trying to grab a drink on their way to work to order ahead. And that's really my issue: the customer experience doesn't seem designed for people who need coffee efficiently. If you're coming here on a weekend, have nowhere to be, or are willing to dedicate an unpredictable amount of time to waiting, you may have a completely different experience. But if you're trying to get coffee before work, I would strongly recommend accounting for significantly more time than you think you'll need -- or having a backup plan. I no longer work as close to The Nook, and I don't drink coffee after noon, so I don't have much reason to make a special trip. Unless I'm conveniently nearby and see little to no line, I won't be making another attempt anytime soon. The Nook clearly has a loyal following, but popularity shouldn't come at the expense of basic convenience. If the demand is consistently this high, the ordering process needs to catch up with it.

They use high-quality Vietnamese coffee that were strong and bold but not extremely bitter. It was milky and perfectly sweet. I loved the biscoff crumbs and the caramel after taste of the biscoff coffee. The sesame coffee tasted like a mix of oreos in a coffee drink. The mochi mango highlighted the fresh mangoes very well and the subtle chewiness of the mochi paired perfectly in the drink. This will be a new go-to in Gardena. The selection here is incredible, starting with their top tier matcha, both the matcha latte and the matcha with mochi toppings feature a rich, earthy, and beautifully grassy profile that isn't overly sweet. On the tea front, the black milk tea with unique barley burst boba is fantastic, while the white peach oolong iced tea offers the crispest, most refreshing pick me up. Their Vietnamese coffee is equally phenomenal whether ordered straight up or topped with their velvety banana or sesame creams! To top it all off, their baked goods are unbelievable!! The freshly baked croissants are to die for, with the chocolate and guava flavors standing out as absolute must tries. Parking is super easy bc they're located in a big plaza! They also have a reward system for frequent customers.

I don't like sugary drinks, so the friendly crew member recommended replacing their usual sweetened tonic water with unsweetened, and reducing the yuzu to 75%. He said the yuzu flavoring is sweet too, but reducing it lessens the flavor as well as the sweetness. He mentioned they could add more yuzu later if I wanted. I appreciate the options presented clearly with the flexibility built in. And the original 75% recommendation turned out to be the perfect balance! The private shared parking lot had multiple empty spaces on a Wednesday afternoon. There is some seating but not a lot, and I was getting it to go anyway. While I stood around for my order, it looked like a comfortable, welcoming atmosphere. My drink came out very quickly and I was on my way. I plan to be back!

The parking is a bit off putting as there are limited spaces and the lot itself is small. I was almost hit by a larger car suddenly pulling out of their spot, so be careful! My sister got a small Strawberry Vanilla Latte ($~7, looks about 16 oz) and service was efficient. I had a few sips of her drink, and it instantly made me think of Nesquik strawberry milk mixed with espresso. I thought the sweetness was at a good level, but I could see it being borderline too sweet if you have a whole drink to yourself. I really liked the unexpected nostalgia factor, and the drink itself was very pretty. The interior is intricately decorated, with little signs and knick knacks everywhere you look. My favorite part was the community resource wall! It was completely filled with flyers (some bilingual) and there was a shelf with stacks of business cards from professionals of all industries. I also spotted a "Know your rights" poster on one of the counters. In a time where new coffee shops seem to be popping up every other day, it's heartwarming to see one that is actively giving back to the community. There's abundant seating and this could be a cozy place to hang out with a friend. TikTok: @qtrinthejukebox Instagram: @qtrinthejukebox

I especially love their matcha selection they offer so many unique flavors to choose from. On my most recent visit, they were unfortunately out of the banana cream matcha even though it was still listed on the menu . I also ended up going about 10 minutes before closing, which I normally try to avoid, but I didn't realize they closed at 9 PM. Ordering was super easy thanks to the self-service kiosk, and my drink was ready in less than two minutes. I ordered the crème brûlée brown sugar boba latte, and the crème brûlée topping was thick, creamy, and absolutely delicious. The brown sugar milk latte itself was definitely on the sweeter side. I think I would've preferred it if it had been made with milk tea instead of just milk, since the tea would've helped balance out the richness and sweetness from both the brown sugar and the crème brûlée. Even so, it was still a tasty drink. The inside of the shop is really cute and very clean. I noticed a few people working on their laptops while I was there, and it seemed like a nice place to hang out for a while. They also don't blast music in the background, so it's easy to have a conversation or get some work done. I'd definitely come back to try some of their other drinks because several of them looked really good.

I told him I wanted to mix matcha with thai, and he was honest enough to tell me that it probably wouldn't taste the way I was expecting because they use powder, and it doesn't always blend well. I appreciated him so much for that because if I had spent money on a nasty drink, I would've been upset. So my backup plan became the Fruity Booty, and it was SO good. I don't remember everything that was in it, but I know it had mango and strawberries. The only downside was that it melted super fast. By the time we got back to the car, there was already juice collecting at the bottom of the cup. Even with that, it was delicious. I've ordered twice now, the most recent time left me with the "yeah I'm not coming back" feeling. I place the uber eats order: 2 shrimp fried rice 2 garlic noodles with filet mignon, peppers & onion 2 popcorn chicken The issue was the service. There were 2 very young girls working the front end. They took forever to acknowledge me waiting at the counter for my pick up order. When one of them finally approached me I showed her my phone and said that I had a pick up order via uber eats. She disappears for 10 minutes. Comes back out and started doing other stuff, gives me no update or anything. I waited an extra 25 minutes after my "promised time" on uber eats. I understand that the younger gen doesn't talk to people but that's just crazy, like at least update the customer ?? If I was a delivery person for someone an extra 25 min wait is insane They even forgot about another lady that was also waiting... The shrimp fried rice is pretty good, of course there's only like 4 shrimps in the entire container. The noodles are okay, obviously they're garlic noodles so you'll have the heavy garlic breath. Very oily and slippery, feels like it'll break my skin out. Popcorn chicken is not traditional to what I am personally used to. One of the pieces had a bone in it and I'm glad it was me and not someone else in my family that got it. There's flavor, the breading is weird and doesn't entirely cover it? Either way, I haven't been here in years and I think this solidified that I don't need to come back. The outside says Veo cafe now. They only use the door on the side for entrance. Still same ambiance and hiccups light up signage inside. Restrooms inside. Street parking or in a free plaza behind it.
