A charming coffee shop located in my favorite area of San Juan Capistrano!…read more The dirty chai was flavorful and a little on the sweeter side, but it was the perfect refreshing drink for a hot day. We also tried the bagel bomb, which was filled with cream cheese and so yummy, especially when heated up. The almond croissant was pretty standard, but the bagel bomb was by far the favorite. The barista was very friendly, and our orders came out quickly despite it being slightly crowded. They had plenty of indoor seating, I would definitely come back for another coffee run!

First of all the line is out the door and it takes about 30 minutes to order your coffee. There aren't any menus throughout along the way and it's really hard to determine what is actually on their menu until you get inside of the coffee shop because most of their drinks on Yelp and Instagram are seasonal. When I was finally able to order, I ordered two different coffees because I wasn't sure what I was going to like given the coffee shop states all of their syrups are made in house. I think that's why the coffee didn't have any flavor and I didn't like it. The staff was nice enough to remake my drink, but even the second drink tasted like it didn't have any syrup in it and tasted like a regular latte. There is very limited seating inside of the coffee shop, merch is $30+ and you should be prepared for long waits.

The house itself is over 140 years old, built in 1881, and it was originally a home for one of the early local families. While waiting for a table, we can walk through what used to be a real home, with sofas, desks, and even room-like spaces. Dining here feels like eating inside a historic house, almost like going back to life more than a hundred years ago. Besides the delicious food, what makes this place truly special is how much of the original character has been preserved. Even the restroom has a vintage style, and I've heard it's nearly 90 years old. Coming here is not just about eating -- it feels like living in a piece of history.

It's on me that I didn't realize it was pre-fixe at $48/person on the weekends. So our party of 5 was outrageously expensive considering the fact that we ended up with way too much food and most of it was meh. For course 1, we got the beet and burrata salad, hush puppies, "salmon lox," beignets, and coffee cake. We could have been done after and would have had 1/2 the food leftover. The salmon lox was mild in taste, but nice. The beet salad was delicious, but would have been better with goat cheese. Hush puppies were good, but SO HEAVY. My kids had the beignets and coffee cake, which were served with a lot of syrup/sauce. Neither dish was finished and they were also SO HEAVY. For 2nd plates, we had the beef stew, flannel hash, crab hash, and 2 orders of the mac and cheese with duck confit and truffles. The flannel hash was outstanding. Everything else was meh. The beef stew was good, but the potatoes were unnecessary and there were bites of blue cheese that were disproportionately strong. The crab hash was not good even after adding salt and pepper. The egg portion of the dish was bad. The sweet potato crispies were overwhelming and ridiculous. And the large crab cakes were just totally lacking in flavor. The mac and cheese was also meh although it did reheat better the next day. But the portion of duck confit was light and I ended up with a large bone in my mouth when I had it as leftovers. I do not believe there were any truffles or even truffle oil in this dish, just mushrooms. In short, I would never go again on the weekend and would not even seek this place out on the weekdays. I wonder if the chef changed because the food was just so mediocre compared to before. The portions are very large so if that is of interest, they have that in spades. And the flannel hash was outstanding. So if you find yourself here, definitely order that. I hope a revamp is done on the food. If so, I would come again as the patio is absolutely lovely.

All the ingredients are grown on the farm and also sourced from other local farms. You order in front and then find your spot. The set up has a rustic charm that makes one feel you are in a truly special place - a regenerative farm that is mission-driven and both for and by community. Now for the food... it was so fresh and delicious. I loved how there was just a glass water bottle on the table so you could serve your self. The subtle flavors of each dish allowed the ingredients to shine. So I had fresh-baked pastries that weren't too sweet (and some were even gluten-free!), a unique salad brassica and grains, a tasty tostada named Huevos Campesino Peace Bean Tostada, and a simple farm fruit and granola bowl. The whole experience was delightful and as they have a seasonal menu, I can't wait to go back and try new things. After lunch, I walked around to see people working on the farm, a Peace Dome where I've read they have events, retired chickens Luna and Henny Penny, and of course the farm stand.

I ordered the matcha latte hot and it reminded me of the matcha in Japan. It's not sweet at all. The milk options included almond and oat milk, but they did not have soy milk, which is what I normally order with matcha. They also had multiple persimmon flavored pastries. My husband and I ordered a cookie to share. I had never had tahini in a cookie before. It had a nutty, kinda peanut butter cookie vibe, but not as good. I'm glad I tried it though. Service is fast casual and we got our food pretty quick, and then our drinks came out a little after the food. We ended up walking around the farm grounds with our drinks after we finished our breakfast
