UPDATE: I returned to this 711 to express my frustration regarding the night before. After a very, very polite conversation with the gentleman who brushed me off the night before; and an explanation of what was happening that night prior to my return. This particular 711 went ABOVE AND BEYOND all expectations to insure that my issue was resolved. I applaud these fine employees and there EXTREME professionalism in making sure I was satisfied and the issue resolved. Thank you Nick, and the whole crew at the 711 on San Juan Capistrano !!!! Original Post: Worst attitudes. Unprofessional. Better off going to shell across the street if you can. A shame because I like 7eleven but this location is the one that makes the franchise look terrible.

It's a small shop with some counter seating and several tables outside the front door. They had around a dozen types on display. Sadly, they were out of old fashioned donuts (my favorite). But on the happy side of things, right when I walked in, they were putting out some brown butter donuts, fresh out of the fryer. I immediately pointed and asked for one of those. I also chose a maple raised and a maple bacon. The woman helping me was quite perky with a great smile. I'm certain the thought of why this guy was buying three huge donuts to eat all by himself never crossed her mind. I ate them throughout the afternoon...the warm brown butter one as soon as I got into the car. The cake of the donut was so soft and warm. If it were larger, I would have cuddled up next to it and taken a nap. The brown butter glaze was topped with a Maldon sea salt brittle. Sweet and salty. This was my favorite, probably because it was so darn fresh. The other two donuts had thick, soft cakes but not as soft as the fresh one. The maple donut was great. You could really tell they use quality maple syrup in the glaze. The maple bacon was similar with the addition of bacon on top. It was messy as some of the crumbled bacon fell off with each bite. They provide individual boxes for each donut so keep it under your chin to catch the crumbles! The bacon is seasoned with black pepper and cayenne. These are high-quality, delicious donuts. I think they're some of the best out there.

Otherwise, I rarely get to visit since it's quite a trek with my work and busy schedule. From my many prior reviews, you know I'm a fan. Great donuts, beautiful packaging, and friendly service is what you'll get here at JD Flannel!

It is located in the beautiful historic town of San Juan Capistrano founded in 1776. The two-story red brick and wood building that the Restaurant occupy was constructed in 1883 and served not only as the town's courthouse which was Then presided by Judge Richard Egan. But it also served as Judge Egan's private residence on the second floor. Following years of vacancy, this building has undergone near total interior and exterior restoration, preserving its 1880s structure while converting it for commercial use. It is known as "Egan House". Years ago, prior to its restoration, i had the privilege of walking onto the front porch and peeking through the windows of this old courthouse as it was still vacant and, in its original interior state. Today. As i walked up these wooden stairs once again and onto the front Porch, i was immediately transported back in time. There is lots of free parking around the restaurant. The exterior has 2 outdoor dining areas. One on the side of the building and one along the narrow front porch baluster. The doors and tall windows look very similar. So i almost missed the front door if it wasn't for a printed sign that said "Entrance" next to the entry door. I must not be the only one :) The interior is charming and bright, and maintains its 19th century vintage character blended with modern and vintage decor. The walls are covered with Historical photographs. The indoor dining area is known as "Harmony Hall" There is also a small private dining area on the second floor. Great for a group or a celebration. There are 3 separate restrooms. 1 on the first floor and 2 on the 2nd floor. Not bad for an old building. You order first. Grab your number and find a table. As you stand in line, you'll find a free standing menu rack. I don't see this too often and i think that it's a great idea as that gives you time to look at the menu while waiting in line. As you make your way to the register, you walk along their display case that showcases all the pastries, cold sandwiches and food bar. I really like their menu. So many good dishes. And It offers something for everyone. I love that you can order any of the menu items all day. So, today, I had my breakfast at 2pm :) The menu is too long to describe. So, Please see photos for the complete 6 page menu. I ordered the Spanish Omelette, a peach ice tea with green tea. And for dessert i had a mixed berry crostata. I got my food in less than 10 min. The service was great. I did not realize that there was a self serve utensil and condiments station. So, my server was kind to get me some utensil and showed me where the utensil station was. The Spanish omelette has shredded machaca beef, peppers and onions. Topped with House Salsa, Cotija cheese, Crema and cilantro. I opted to leave out the Crema as i am not a big fan of sour cream. This was one of the best omelettes i have ever had. It was warm. The eggs were light and airy. It was packed with tender and tasty shredded beef. All of these ingredients combined with the delicious mild salsa, fresh cilantro and Cotija cheese paired incredibly well. It is a must have. The Mixed berry crostata had a soft crust on the outside. Moist on the inside with tons of berries partly melted into a marmelade. (I had them warm it up) It was not overly sweet at all which was great. The whole thing was lightly coated with powdered sugar. It was excellent. As for the Peach ice tea. Well it was just a good peach ice tea with green tea and light peach flavored syrup. It was refreshing. Great food. Generous portions. very reasonable prices and great service. Can't beat it. I highly recommend trying Ellie's Table.

It's very homely and also service was fantastic. Everything that we ordered came out very fast and was extremely tasty. Most of the tables are outdoor so it's really nice to sit under the trees and hear the trains go by and just really enjoy a great brunch. They have a small and big plate option and you're supposed to order one from each category for just under $50. It's a lot of food so you will not leave hungry. For my breakfast, I started off with the Tomato Bisque and Grilled Cheese Sandwich, which was a great start to the meal. I'm a huge soup and sandwich fan and was probably the first time I've ever done that at brunch. For my big plate, I chose the Huevo Rancheros and really enjoyed it. I wish the meat would have been chorizo, but the sausage was also nice. I would highly recommend both dishes and this restaurant in general to anyone.
