I came to this store to buy a money order. A scary old man held the door for me the entire time I walked across the parking lot, staring at me. When I crossed the threshold, he followed me in, letting the door close behind him in front of two other customers. They came in behind him and he ushered them ahead of him so that he could stare at me while I got my money order. The cashier could tell I was frazzled and he asked me if I was okay. I explained that the man was making me uncomfortable. He said, "Oh I know him. You're all good." "I'm clearly not all good. If you know him, tell him to stop." "I don't know him like that." "But he is making a customer feel uncomfortable." "Then say something to him." So, I turn to him and say, "You need to leave me alone, dude." He snaps back, "Oh what, don't hold the door for you?" "No! Don't hold the fucking door open for me and don't stare at my tits for a half mile either!" Keep in mind, this man was only holding the door while I walked across the whole parking lot because he saw me coming, and then let it close in front of TWO other customers. He was not being polite. He was being predatory. I am a grown ass adult. I can open my own fucking door. I turn to the cashier with tears in my eyes and say, "I shouldn't have to do that, man, I'm the customer." He says, "Look, I just got outta prison. I'm not trying to go back." "I can appreciate that man. I get it." He shook my hand and I left crying and shaking. I want to be very clear here: THE CASHIER DID NOTHING WRONG, he just failed to do what was right. And that is not HIS problem, it is a problem with 7/11. It is a very important thing that 7/11 hires ex-cons. When those people have options to be productive members of the community, WE ALL BENEFIT. I am no fool. I understand the importance of this job not just for him, but for all of us. The problem is that the only way this man knows to solve a problem is through violence. That doesn't help any of us, and it doesn't provide him with a framework for how to effectively exercise his actual power in that situation. The 7/11 is not public space, it is private property. The appropriate action would have been to tell the old man, "Hey, dude, you gotta get out of here for now. Go where I can't see you and come back in five minutes. Leave the woman alone." If he doesn't leave, you have the right to refuse him service. "Listen, man, if you won't leave for a little while, I gotta ban you for the day." And if he still won't leave, now he is trespassing because you already refused to serve him. At that point, you can involve the police if necessary. 7/11 should be training its employees to do this. What if ICE showed up? Trespassing is the one thing people at their workplaces can do to help keep the community safe from ALL predators. Know your privileges and use them wisely and for the benefit of the people. read more

I don't smoke, but I was buying a pack for a friend. I asked for American Spirit Menthols, I don't know there are lights and regular! I noticed the box was the wrong color and asked for the lime green ones. This lazy eyed jerk at the register got all pissed off and told me to google what I want and proceeded to chew me out! I told him I'm sorry, but you don't need to be a dick about it. Then, some lady comes out. Tells me to watch my language and hands me the pack I asked for! I have been overcharged at this store, before or had points used I did not want used-on my 7/11app. This is the final straw. Never coming in this store again, as other Yelpers have stated. read more

I came to the store today and the cashier was outside smoking marijuana, he walked in after he was done smoking and when I asked him if I could pay for my items he ignored me, I asked him again and he told me "I could just wait a minute" and I told him that I didn't think he heard me because he didn't acknowledge me the first time. At that point I told him I changed my mind and no longer wanted to buy the items and I left. The cashier was extremely rude and should not be working in customer service and getting high in the job. This 7-eleven doesn't follow any COVID safety measures and by the other reviews that have been left lately, I say this with confidence. I've come in several times at night- the same 30-40yo guy is always working inside without a mask. The other night, he doesn't bother to put it on for the guest in front of me, (with their mask not on properly, just dangling below her chin)- but he says nothing. He sees me, looking alittle wideeyed and shocked at what's going on, takes his mask out if his pocket and puts it on.. Never, ever, evvvver.. will I give this business my money. read more

I went in tonight, October 2nd around 6:30pm to pick up a tobacco product (please no judgements.) I walk in, and am the only customer in the store. I'm on the phone with my spouse asking specifically what he wants. The male worker, maybe early 30's with a beard comes up to the register wearing his face mask on his chin, mouth and nose fully exposed. I ask for the product. He responds, "We don't sell that anymore. We never should have." Then, I kid you not... he turns his back to me and walks away to the other side of the store. At least 20 feet away without saying another word. I was so shocked and upset, when I left, I asked my spouse to call and see what his name was. His manager should know who is representing their business. He calls. The worker answers "7 Eleven Scott's Valley." My husband asks his name. The worker responds, " Scott's Valley" and then hung up the phone. read more

during the week days, around the lunch hour 11:30 to 12:30, the female employee is the best. BUT the male employee how ever during this same time, when it comes to his shift. Is the worst employee in history, hot food is never ready during the busiest time of the day. A guy with a very bad mood was pissed at me because he had to put my ten receipts with 65 Powerball tickets through the machine (1 minute?) With each one that didn't have a prize he would slam the ticket in the counter in front of me and yell that I didn't check that ticket. He paid me $16 but I was expecting $23. I wanted to purchase $240 plus the earnings (for my group of friends) but when he realized I was going to buy more he asked "and you are going to buy more?" so pissed at me! I just say "yes, but not here". I went home and checked the pictures of the 3 receipts that he kept, and there it was, a 3-numbers prize that he did not pay me. Went back to the store asked for the unpaid prize and he said he paid all I won. I asked the guy to show me the tickets he kept from me and he refused. I told him that I have the picture and that I will report him for fraud and he yelled at me to do whatever I want and to have a great day very sarcastically. I am new to the area. Today was my second visit. I need to say this has been the best customer service I have received in all of Santa Cruz county. The first visit was to pick up a few items and cash out lottery tickets. The person that was ringing us up provided a great experience. He would announce our winnings with great enthusiasm. It made a fun moment for us. Unfortunately we didn't get his name, had an accent if that helps. The second visit was just as fantastic. This time I got the name of the person. Gustavo was friendly when we walked in and went out of his way to take care of my need. I am not sure who reads these reviews for the company or if they have any weight when assessing an employee; I hope they do. Gustavo and the other gentleman represent superb customer service. I went to the store to check my group lottery tickets and buy new tickets... this is for a group of people so it's always around $100.00. I greeted him and handed the tickets (only 4 ) to the older gentlemen. He checked them with the machine and said, no winner and crumbled the tickets up ready to throw them away. I ask to give me the checked tickets back and he told me in a rude voice that I don't need them anymore (well I do, in case any of the players questions if we won anything) I never had a store refuse to give me the tickets back and I been playing for 20 years. I purchased the new tickets, wished him a nice day and left. I will never return to this store, so when we win big...this store is not worth getting a penny of it. The guy working here was very rude to me for no reason... first, he won't acknowledge the customer in front of me and is reading some paper, then he's super slow, next he short changes me $5, I tell him, he looks at me like I'm stupid, but then realizes I'm right. He doesn't even use cash register for change- he has all these random piles of bills on back counter that he uses.. I went in there the day after the covid mask law came into effect, I had no mask on and the cashier who I knew was the manager yelled at me with arms flailing and cussing. I understand I should have been wearing a mask but that is not how you treat customers, or anyone for that mater. This is the WORST 7-11 I've ever been to! The owner, Singh, refused to honor the free Slurpee day even though it was advertised on the front window and all around the store. It's an annual, nation-wide promotion. This store advertised as participating in the promotion but said we were too late (about 5PM.) I was an ALL day promotion nowhere stating 'while supplies last' - like they'd even run out of that iced sugar water. Four disappointed kids - well, I brought them to Jamba Juice to dispel their upset. Free Slurpees cost me $16 but I was NOT BUYING from THAT 7-11! The owner was rude and wrong. I advise everyone to take their business elsewhere or at least a different 7-11. read more
