Another Verve Coffee location in the books! I'm always tempted to grab some Verve when I'm in Santa Cruz. I was surprised, however, that when I came in this day they were out of a lot of ingredients for their menu items. We had to order alternative items to the main ones we wanted to try due to these shortages, but the food we got was still yummy. While there isn't necessarily a big wow factor for this cafe, I appreciate that they do simplicity with high quality. Tue morning was not too bad of a traffic. We found parking easily and had to pay using coins (card reader does not work). Staff was kind enough to change my dollar for coins for parking. Found this coffee spot, happened to be during a little market day and the streets were blocked off with vendors. Luckily I parked about a 5 minute walk away. Seems to be a popular spot Sunday mornings with a long line but it went pretty fast. For people both dining in or ordering out. I got an almond croissant, one of my friends wanted a matcha latte, others iced vanilla latte, iced mocha, and I got a hot latte. I think the small sizes only come with 1 shot of espresso and whole milk. After you order the drinks come out really quickly! This coffee is so yummy We went there all three days of our stay and I have to admit I am going to miss this coffee. The first day I had a Gibraltar made with pistachio milk, and my husband had a honey cappuccino. We shared a hazelnut chocolate cake. The second day I had a cinnamon whiskey cappuccino and my husband had a honey cappuccino again Then in day three I had to have a pour over of their wilder blend experimental coffee- I can't even explain how amazing this coffee is! Had a great time at this roastery! I absolutely love Verve, as I've tried their Palo Alto location, and I always get the missile. It's a sweet cold brew that's served immediately since they have it as a huge gallon of it. Extremely overpriced. $16+ for a breakfast sandwich that is a store bought English muffin with reheated egg patties. Everyone in my party got one and none of us could eat more than half. Coffee is good enough but not worth the long lines and high prices, there are a million other places in Santa Cruz with equal quality drinks with no lines and no inflated prices - $11 for a medium mocha with almond milk? Seriously? Even Starbucks is cheaper. I've only been to the location in pleasure point and my friend and I discovered they had another opening here in downtown Santa Cruz! Goodness this one is freaking huge. I love this aesthetic and wooden panels makes me feel very clean and earthy and the lighting was not too bright for my sensitive eyes. It was rather warm this particular day, so my friend and I sat by the window or the entrance to enjoy the breeze. There were beautiful plants above our heads and we wish we could've taken a better picture of them, but there was no way to get everything into the shot. I had a Matcha latte with pistachio milk and my friend had an iced vanilla latte with pistachio milk as well! She loves sugar in her drinks and really liked her vanilla latte. Stopped by Verve Coffee for a quick drink while visiting downtown and it was a good experience. Luckily when I went the line was short and I didn't have to wait too long to order. I ended up getting an iced vanilla latte, and it was the perfect balance of flavors and quite refreshing. I did have to wait a while for my drink, so be prepared, since it takes the staff a bit longer to prepare drinks. This location was airy, spacious and had plenty of seating. Customer service was friendly and helpful. They tend to overfill the iced drinks, so there's a likelihood that you may spill a little bit. Overall, a solid coffee spot that is conveniently located and has a pleasant ambiance. Definitely recommend visiting Verve Coffee if you're in the area. read more

The jam on the biscuit is seasonal so it's different almost every time you go. (Very good!) the biscuit itself is so flakey and buttery as well. Avacado toast is ... an avacado toast. They don't skimp on the 'cado which is much appreciated. They also throw some pickled veggies on there as well but overall very tasty. Can't leave without talking about the coffee! I came here this morning and ordered a chocolate raspberry mocha, light sweet with oat milk. It tasted way too sweet. I asked the barista that handed me my drink if it was made light sweet and she said "if you asked for it light sweet, then it was made light sweet." I asked if she could please confirm because it didn't taste that way. She sighed and asked someone else if it was light sweet. The other barista said "I think so." Very disappointing experience. I waited over 25 minutes for a simple breakfast order, only to find out they couldn't even locate my order. There was very little communication, and I had to ask multiple times just to figure out what was going on. A basic breakfast shouldn't take this long, especially when the order gets lost. A lot of my friends living or visiting Santa Cruz would always hype up Verve. I'd never been so I was excited when my companion was down to go. I will say that it fits well with the vibe of Santa Cruz, no wonder it's adored by so many. This is one of the many locations in Santa Cruz. The cafe is open and well-lit, clean and courteous, and has minimalistic decor with plants sprawled around. A hot spot for hangouts, study dates, and a nice fix of caffeine. You'll be surprised with how much seating there is from booth tables, communal tables, and bar seating. We enjoyed waiting at the bar counter while the fun baristas efficiently made our drinks. As a tea lover, I was allured by their Bowl of Soul. It was a warm soothing cup, light on the chamomile and forward on the soy milk! My companion had a summer specialty, a Citrus Cream Iced Latte with Oat Milk. It was delightful, sweet, and a nice hint of citrus. They offer lots of teas, coffees, and seasonal drinks with dairy alternatives. There are Verve Coffee Roasters all over California, but their downtown location is chic and charming.
