I had been wanting oxtails for about two weeks or more so I googled the nearest place to me not realizing this place was less then 10 minutes from me. I place an order of oxtails collard greens mac n cheese and candy yams. The oxtails was absolutely delicious very tender melt in your mouth, the collard greens was flavorful and seasoned to perfection, yams was delicious as well, the mac n cheese was good but could've been more cheesier. But overall the platter was delicious this will not be my last visit. The customer service was pleasant and they were nice but nothing over the top. The macaroni was like I had the scraps of the pan. The oxtail portion was inconsistent in the plates one had a little more than the other plate. I will not be returning. My wife and I went around 5ish on a Thursday evening. No wait but several pick up orders were handled during our visit. I ordered the large Jerk chicken with cabbage and greens (Rice and peas included) and my wife had a medium Stew chicken with greens and candied yams. This was hands down the most amazing Jamaican food we've had in our lives including Scotchies in Montego Bay, Jamaica! Chicken was tender, juicy and perfectly seasoned in every bite. The oxtails were a bit fatty but were seasoned and cooked well, the Mac n cheese was dry and the collard greens weren't cooked down enough and were a bit tough but adding hot sauce saved them. This is the WORST "jerk" chicken o have ever had in my life. I've had jerk chicken in Jamaica, New York, Pennsylvania, Georgia and Florida and this place doesn't even deserve to call this jerk chicken. The side options don't include plantains, what Jamaican restaurant doesn't offer plantains? I requested extra gravy which is described as "extra gravy on your dish", extra implying more of what you ordered. It stands to reason that since I ordered jerk chicken, it would be extra jerk gravy. NOPE, it's beef gravy for like a pot roast or something. Not to mention, the portion sizes are shameful. I ordered a small because all the aforementioned places I've gotten jerk chicken from tend to be very very generous, but this was an insult to be that small and for damn near $20. I ate 2 bites just so I could say I tried it and make sure my review is thorough, but, I'm super excited to have immediately thrown it away. The initial pulling into the parking lot to me gives dirty vibes. but I was so hungry I went ahead and tried it even tho my instinct was telling me to just leave, (side note , I should have listened go my instincts) the glass door upon entering was filthy full of fingerprints , smears, etc as if it hadn't been cleaned for weeks/ months. red flag number 2 . the entry way after you open front door was dirty & smelled dirty ( I should have left at that moment) then the actual restaurant inside had a very very very dirty funky smell , I was ok maybe it's the oxtails they cook i have no clue because I don't eat them but I was just trying to make myself feel better to eat there. again once inside dirty vibes again. tables sticky. no a/c so just muggy and warm plus the foul smell even worse. used the bathroom, it was also hot inside there , super cheap falling apart toilet paper , dirty floor , stink in the whole dam building. omg I should have just left. but again I was so hungry so I ordered. they are so slow , Chinese restaurants and Mexican restaurants would never have you waiting that dang long for 1 meal. then i got my meal , of course it was nasty, and wrong ,mac and cheese barely any flavor , rice had hard crunchy spots in it . just ridiculous. and not fresh at all. I will NEVER GO BACK . I ordered food today from 7 Spices Caribbean Soul Food - 5511 Faris Street, Norfolk, VA. Paid for it via Doordash Store Front PIckup. The order was supposed to be ready at 4pm; it was not. The lady w/ the PINK hair found my order and put together my meal. On my way out the door she made a comment stating that she is "blocking" me??? I was baffled... However, she proceeded to yell at me stating that I am stealing from a Small Business...as well as stating that my order was OLD... She was Very RUDE and condescending...
