Very standard hotel bar and grill that gets the job done, especially when you're done being out and about for the night but want a night cap before totally calling it. I came here a couple times during my work trip to end the evening with my go-to glass of bubbly. It's very typical in terms of menu offerings, atmosphere, etc. Service was friendly and I did end up chatting with some other patrons both times. I sat at the bar but there did appear to be ample seating as well as some spots that looked conducive to relaxing more/coworking, etc.

The 720 South Bar & Grill is located inside the Hilton Chicago Hotel. I visited three times during my stay at the Hotel. I ate breakfast here two mornings in a row. They have a breakfast buffet - which includes a custom omelette station where you pick up a bowl, load it with ingredients, then hand it to the chef to prepare. Both mornings I selected Asparagus, onions, mushrooms, spinach, and fresh jalapeños, plus cheddar and bacon (the second day - cheddar and Chorizo). Instead of an omelette - I had the chef prepare it as a scramble. I added some bacon and sausage on the side - along with some strawberries. I also had a glass of V-8 juice and a cup of coffee. Everything was very good and service was excellent. What is not excellent - is the prices - breakfast both mornings was around $30.00. I also stopped into the bar one evening and had a 22 oz. pint of Anti-Hero IPA (Revolution Brewing Co.). Excellent Ale - not an excellent price. My bill with tip for one beer was around $16.00. Expect extravagant prices for food and drink while staying at this hotel. #720SouthBarandGrill

So neither me or my ex wife got re-married after 4 years so we decided, what the heck, let's do a little get together in the Windy City. Drinks, great. Appetizer, fantastic. Service, out of this world. 5/5 would recommend.

Wonderful area and fantastic bourbon. If you enjoy bourbon, do the J Henry Flight. So good. Didn't do any food on my visit, but the bourbon was amazing.

As 720 Grill & Bar isn't the most assuming venue on an ordinary afternoon, it is definitely a quieter environment to carry out good conversations. Highly recommend the fried duck wings dressed in sweet chili sauce (my favorite sauce) sprinkled with sesame seeds and green onions. The brown meat is very tender and outer skin lightly crisp. The crème brûlée is also wonderfully made in a thicker cream. The brûlée layer is done perfectly, just lightly blowtorched.

This is the latest "Bistro Steak" as of 10/09/17 - what a ripoff. Small portions at large prices! $27.00 steak ended up being two pieces of poorly cut meat. Would definitely pass on this place.

Ordinary food and ingredients with high price. Edible for convenience and desperation. BURGER -- the only decent food to price selection. So so. Thick fries. Thick tomatoes. SERVICE -- typical hotel restaurant...VERY SLOW.

The ambience was relaxed and chill. Perfect after a long day of traveling. The service was excellent which made up for average tasting food.

My group was made to feel like an inconvenience - we felt rushed even though we didn't take long to order, or linger after paying, and we were polite while ordering plenty of dishes and drinks. A number of people in our party also work in the service industry, so we try to be mindful of all of these factors. We didn't receive one of the ordered sides, and this was obviously not the server's fault, but a number of items we attempted to order were unavailable (oysters, saturn cocktail, milk & cookies dessert) and it wasn't really acknowledged. Again, this was a birthday reservation and we were brought the check without being asked if we would like to order dessert. Then, when we did order dessert, there was no candle. I understand some restaurants don't provide candles...but a table next to us was given a candle. A disappointing experience - I had been looking forward to trying Oliver's since they opened.

We got there around 8am on 06/18/26 and the place was kind of empty. We stood for awhile waiting to be seated. Finally a lady said she would take us to a table but that they were all dirty. We kind of looked at each other puzzled. She kept mentioning that they were dirty and weren't cleaned yet but seated us at a high top that hadn't been cleaned and tried to clean it herself. We wanted a window seat so we accepted it. It seemed fine after she cleaned it. It was just a strange way to bring us into the restaurant before the tables were cleaned. We could have stood by the door and waited some more. But the service and food were very good! Our server was Jose, who was excellent while checking on us several times to make sure everything was good. The vanilla latte that he recommended was delicious! I ordered the 3 Egg Ham 'n Cheese Omelet with mushrooms and my daughter had the Eggs Benedict. Both were cooked perfectly and seasoned correctly. Yummy! For dessert, we shared the delicious Cinnamon Roll Waffle, made perfectly, of course. We were surprised when we received our check, which was $92 for breakfast plus 20% tip. Anywhere else It would be around $65 but we were here on vacation. We were in Chicago for another 5 days but we did not come back here. There were many other breakfast places on the Riverfront that were equally good and much less expensive. My rating was 3.5 stars rounded up to 4 stars.

We happened to already be in the city that day and somehow got lucky finding a reservation close to the time we were already nearby, so we knew we had to take our chance! The staff was also super friendly and really helpful with recommendations throughout the night. We started with the warm Parker House rolls, which were so soft, fluffy, buttery, and delicious. Then we shared the vodka rigatoni, and the portion was definitely big enough for two people to split. So creamy, comforting, and really good. None of this was a great surprise. No cocktails, by the way. The tasting menu was photocopies with two menus per sheet of paper and a very sloppy cut for a non-rectangular menu. The problem was the service. I like a paced meal but 2 hr-55 min is absolutely ridiculous. The restaurant was not able to get food onto the table, either because of the quantity of quality of the staff, and the room certainly wasn't very crowded, perhaps 35 customers in sight. I think there were 4 cooks, 2 servers, 2-3 runners/busboys, and a hostess who hustled around doing a lot of odd jobs. Every item served was delicious. The plating was nice as well. The wines were not so successful. Of the four wines on the menu, two differed from the descriptions and the pairings ran from OK to Combative. I have lots of details about the food and wine, but that's not the issue. The poor service was inexcusable. I only get to Chicago one every 2-3 years and there are so many good restaurants that this one has been crossed of the list with a permanent Sharpie.
